LEGO Ninjago Ongoing Rumours and Discussion
Rolyat24 replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I don’t think there’s much of a question there. Dreamzzz is set to end next year, and its sets have gotten heavy discounts in recent waves. I don’t think that the theme is inherently worse, but I do think it’s selling worse due to a number of reasons (unknown to us). The summer wave looks great! The dragonians in this color scheme have really grown on me. They’re unique among an ever-growing list of Ninjago factions. The ninja designs are actually a weak point for me. I love the new armor, but the rest of the figs feel pretty generic. The Temple Bounty is beautiful and huge! I do wish the minifigure lineup were a bit more filled out. And it would have been awesome to get the rumored “dark bounty” to really set this apart. But I like the interior, the dragon, even the controversial sails. The Legends sets also look very cool. I’m still not sold on the dragon (why does it need to be a statue?) but it does look beautiful. The Fire Knight Mech at least can act as a regular mech, but (as always) I wish it were an official Titan mech. The Combat vehicle is interesting but not enough for a $100 purchase. Hoping Frak appears elsewhere, even without printed eyes. The mech rider dragon is a fun concept but looks a little wonky. Rontu is fine and if I end up buying Egalt this year I’ll probably pick up both. Overall, not the best wave, but there are enough standouts in here to keep me interested!- 768 replies

It seems strange that they wouldn’t prioritize adding joints that actually work. I’d assume most older Ninjago fans are used to having fully functional dragons that still look great on display. Why buy this and not last year’s source dragon? I think it looks great obviously (although the head feels too small) but it’s hard to get excited about such a static model. I’ll wait to see reviews before making a final call.- 768 replies

It is pretty wild that we’re seeing 2026 leaks already, even before the summer sets have been revealed. Do we know where these are from? Someone mentioned that one of the villain figs looks like Clouse. The other two are pretty monster-like. Maybe we’re getting a monster fighting season? Something like Ninjago x Scooby-Doo? I do love the dragon designs for the ninja, I hope all of the ninja get this treatment!- 768 replies

Frak’s head has leaked, and I must say I’m disappointed. Unless the eyes end up printed, the eyes and hood/mask being the same color doesn’t work. Lego used to print on specialized heads all the time, but now they seem so opposed to it. For something like the wolf masks or even generic army building serpentine I’d say it’s fine. But for a figure like Frak who is a major named character, this feels lazy. This bothered me with Aspheera and I thought a new piece would have resolved the issue. Maybe children in testing don’t care about characters with pupils?- 768 replies

I like the general look of these. Both Legends sets are super detailed and clearly designed to be a higher-quality product. The dragon is a little too humanoid for my liking, so I’m curious to see it from different angles. I also wonder if both are designed to be able to be removed from their stands or if they’re stuck in place. If they can’t be removed, then I definitely won’t consider the Fire Knight Mech to be Kai’s Titan mech. I’m still holding out some hope for one that matches the color scheme of the rest. The new bounty is also really cool. I like that it’s clearly still the same ship but is fairly unique among previous iterations. It is pricey though, so we’ll see if it ends up on my list. Lloyd’s jet/mech isn’t my cup of tea. The jet looks too much like it has two legs sticking out of it (because it does). I am a fan of the tiny skeleton dragon though. Maybe I’ll part out that model separately. Excited to see what else is in store, but looks like we’ve been spoiled already with some of the nicest/biggest sets leaking early.- 768 replies

We also got news about 71847 Guardian Dragon from fateful (1650 pieces, $149.99, releasing in June). It’s said to be “a diorama with a huge and detailed Lloyd’s dragon and a small temple on the rocks” and comes with two minifigures. I’m conflicted. I’m glad they’re acknowledging the older/adult audience with this, but I don’t like that it’s a dragon (speaking as someone who almost exclusively buys Ninjago dragons). Is this going to replace larger dragon playsets like the source dragon of motion? Will it be jointed and swooshable? I think I’d rather get a full playset with a ton of figures. I’m sure it’ll look great, and no doubt I’ll eat my words, but it makes me less excited. Interesting to see Twitchy Tim in the crossroads. Seems like TLG is still willing to make highly-desired figures from previous seasons, even if only from a few years back. Maybe there’s hope for more characters yet!- 768 replies

My order from October changed to “shipped” and I just saw a charge pending on my card, so I’m hopeful it’ll arrive soon. But I haven’t gotten any email communications about the delay or the change in status. Does anyone know if there’s a way to find the tracking number for a second shipment in an order? On my account page, it’s only showing the tracking number from the best sellers portion of my order. -

I forgot about the gimmicks. I feel like gimmick sets should either stick with entirely exclusive figures or reuse figures from the wave. The “same suit except an exclusive non-canon mask” ends up as the worst of both worlds; you can’t buy the gimmick as a cheap way to get the main suit, and there’s no reason to buy it for an exclusive minifigure. I wonder if product testing revealed that kids just don’t care about it? I think the Crossroads will be a standalone set, and the next modular will come in 2026 to commemorate 15 years of Ninjago. That way, this year’s set can focus more on DR and then next year could be more retrospective. I’m not sure if LEGO would do another anniversary minifig lineup so soon (Star Wars got one for both 20 and 25 years, but 25 is more of a milestone than 15). At the very least, a modular set could be marketed as a 15 year celebration without LEGO having to do too much differently than they otherwise would have for a modular.- 768 replies

I like both of the new dragons but neither is blowing me away. The color schemes are interesting and refreshing but I’m not sold on either’s shape yet. I don’t really understand how Thunderfang is able to stay upright as it seems really front-heavy. At $50, this would be a good set, but I can’t justify it at its current price. The Arc Dragon is much bulkier and feels more worthwhile, especially at a discount. I don’t really like the horns as I think they’ve been a bit overdone recently (in Zane’s ice dragon creature and Cole’s EVO dragon specifically). The Zarkt figure is really cool though. I’m glad we aren’t getting a full slate of new ninja minifigures in the March wave. 3 suits in one year was too much in 2024. I am puzzled about Arin having a different hood in this wave though. I like this version a lot more than the one in the jet, but why use two valuable element slots on this minor difference when Sora and Wyldfyre don’t get any updates? I don’t usually buy sets until well after they debut, so I’ll have some time to think about these (especially vs. the Zane combo mech). Too many good sets, not enough money/space/time!- 768 replies

Feels odd that they’re revisiting arctic sets so soon. They must be popular with kids, and honestly who can blame them? Neither of the sets sound particularly water-focused so I’m thinking any animals that are included are more likely to exist on land. Personally I’d love an arctic fox (that can be recolored later), a recolored snowshoe hare, and more wolves. At a stretch, maybe a musk ox, but I doubt they would be well-known enough by children. If we do see ocean animals, I’m hoping for a walrus or narwhal! Does anyone know what other city sets may be coming in 2HY? It sounds like no more jungle, which is sad.

Overall a very refreshing wave with some new concepts and well-designed minifigures. I’ll probably wait and see the spring/summer sets before deciding on any of these, but here are my initial thoughts: The only set I’m 100% sold on is the Forest Dragon. It’s a great follow-up to young Riyu and I love the baby yellow dragon. I also still like the jet, and if it’s really only $50 then I could see myself getting it at a discount. That new Arin is nice! The combo mech I’m less certain about. I have the previous one and this doesn’t look that much better. I also think the separated vehicles on this one are pretty weak (other than Buff Zane). Even Riyu is a lot worse than this years’ version. The “village” has some great figures but is a little too small of a build to interest me. Same with Zane’s mech, though at $10 I’ll probably end up with it at some point. It does feel like the designers made some bizarre choices with this wave. Why give Zane two new suits and Sora zero? Why include the weird S1/2 Lloyd mashup in the dragon? Why does the 4+ set not include each of the ninja’s hoods? Why does Kai once again get a gold mask in his spinner set? I’d much prefer that budget go to almost anything else. The minifigs that are new are fun, but I’m really not a fan of the new masks. They look too much like super hero helmets, like Ant-Man or something. I think they’d work better with bulkier shoulder armor. I like the F5 figs fine, but the real stars of the show are the Dragonians. It’s nice to see so many of them throughout the wave. Here’s hoping they’re available on PaB. Speaking of PaB, has anyone else noticed how bad it’s been for Ninjago parts this year specifically? Has there been any official reason given for why? I think only a handful of figures have been available in their entirety this year.- 768 replies

The Ras and Arin jet leaked on Instagram and wow! It’s such a fun color and shape! It looks like Ras is actually flying on a tiny dragon or creature of some sort that connects with the jet. The Arin minifigure looks new but it’s hard to make out any details behind the windshield.- 768 replies

I’m loving the slow drip of reveals, let’s keep them coming! The new spinner looks very cool, much better than the more recent gimmicks we’ve seen with DR. I’m excited to see what Sora’s looks like. The forest dragon is well-designed, but I can’t help but think it’s disappointing that it doesn’t have any real indicators of its “forest” title outside of the green and brown color scheme. It would have been interesting to see a dragon made of leaves and wood to really set this apart from other green dragons. Still, it’s excellent for its size, so I’m excited to see it in more detail. The storm rider is a fun idea, and it’s always great to see new vehicle designs when everything else feels so repetitive. I’m not sure I’ll buy it, but I’m interested to see what it looks like from other angles. The chaos dragon has an awesome color scheme and cool wings. It’s a little smaller than I was envisioning, but it’s kind of hard to get a sense of the scale with it rearing up like that. Personally I’m a little disappointed with the combo mech because it is very similar visually to the previous one. I’d prefer something a bit more visually distinctive, but having Riyu on top is a nice addition (and a creative way to put another Riyu model into a set without repeating this year’s model). I’m wondering if there’s a Zane minifigure under the “giant Zane” that you all have pointed out. It’s a bit too fuzzy for me to make sense of it. I’ll reserve further judgement on this one until we can see the individual vehicles and how they connect. The minifigures here really are a mixed bag - the dragonians are amazingly detailed, and the forbidden five promise to be very cool. I like the new ninja wraps, but I share others’ concerns about minifigures repeated from earlier waves. If this really is the case, it feels a little lazy and doesn’t do certain characters (read: Sora) justice. I have some hope that these renderings are incomplete, especially the chaos dragon one, but only time will tell. Either way, I’ll have to get a ton of those full dragonians! I wonder if they will change color schemes for the summer like the wolf masks did this year?- 768 replies

I’m not anticipating ninja in space anytime soon, but I am a little surprised we haven’t had an alien invasion storyline yet, a la Alien Conquest. That way the setting and hero vehicles could all feel very similar but the villains could have a new aesthetic and some ufo-type builds.- 768 replies

Major 2025 news from Fateful! Looks like in addition to the known 11 January sets, we’re getting 3 in March and 10 in June. I’m liking the sound of the “Arc Dragon of Focus” - I’m hoping a source dragon? The villains sound cool too, we’ve been talking about dragon villains for a long time around here! Plus the Forbidden Five. It’s shaping up to be another fun year!- 768 replies

What timely discussion we were just having about the combo mech! I also wouldn’t have been interested if it was just a Zane mech, but I really like the combination of characters they’ve put together. I’ll wait and see what it looks like, but I could definitely see myself wanting this. I wonder if Riyu will be very similar to the set from this year or not? I imagine it’ll use the same specialized head part,- 768 replies

We don’t know what the combo mech will entail yet. Some here have suggested maybe multiple Zane vehicles that combine into one, or a Zane mech with swappable limbs and accessories. I think it’s also possible that there are other pilots but the aesthetic is overall Zane’s. Shouldn’t be too long before we get some descriptions and/or pictures and see for ourselves!- 768 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
Rolyat24 replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great list! I also would love a Ninjago CMF, even if it would mostly be taken up by main characters. I imagine designers would feel pressured to include new variants of all six original ninja and now also Arin and Sora, if not also Wyldfyre. Plus with Wu, Pixal, and Garmadon, that’s already 12 characters without really leaving the main cast. I think it would be hard to justify including someone like Sorla or Faith, who definitely had major roles in their respective seasons but ultimately have been absent for years, over someone like Jay, who every kid knows and is many’s favorite character. That’s also the reason I was thinking about bonus anniversary figs over something like a CMF. Another option would be the best modular, which would be a great place for newer minor characters like Frohicky or Geo or even the occasional throwback. All this to say, I hope Ninjago sticks around a long while and we get even more cool characters! -

An interesting thought: say Ninjago’s next big anniversary (15? 20?) gets a wave of never-before-seen characters like in Star Wars this year. What characters from the last 14 years would you want to see as minifigures? I’m still waiting on Fugidove -
LEGO Ninjago Ongoing Rumours and Discussion

Interested in seeing a few of these, particularly the forest dragon and village. Zane’s mech could be cool, but it is a little odd that Zane is getting two mechs this wave, one of which is titan-sized even though there are other characters who would benefit more from a titan mech. Combo mech makes it sound like there are multiple smaller vehicles, so maybe Pixel will make her return here? I like that Sora is getting a spinjitzu set. Here’s hoping the minifigure is interesting and not like this year’s gimmicks. I’d like to see a powered up NRG-type Sora. Seeing the villains is definitely the highlight of most waves for me. Although there are occasionally interesting ninja variants, like the MotM armor or the Seabound scuba suits. I know I’ve said this before, but I for one would like to see a return to suits like Skybound with a consistent color (black or white) shared by all of the ninja. Do we think we’ll get a March wave again? This wave is looking pretty cheap otherwise!- 768 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
Rolyat24 replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I like all of your ideas, and I would love to get all seven source dragons eventually. I doubt LEGO would be willing to use the largest set of every summer wave as a source dragon for seven years though. We might have to settle for a variety of sizes of dragons, similar to how the Titan mechs make up a wide range of price points and sizes. I’m not opposed to a variety, but it would be a shame to have, say, a $50 source dragon that is completely overshadowed by ones the size of the Source Dragon of Motion. Is DR really expected to run for 7 years? I feel like, even assuming Ninjago in general gets renewed that long, 7 years is a long time to keep this plot line going! -

Count me in as a kid who grew up to be an adult fan of Ninjago! I didn’t have any fully dark ages, but I’ve gone through periods where I could spend more or less. I think LEGO has started to realize that this audience exists too, what with the increasing size and complexity of models they’re producing (beyond of the already-popular-with-older-fans Ninjago City sets). On that note, is it too early to start speculating about next year? We might be due for a Ninjago City expansion. I’m personally hoping for another titan mech (Kai or Nya?) and a dragon to at least rival the majesty of this year’s source dragon. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a large earth dragon. Actually, I suppose we’ve never really have had one. Alternatively, I could see a large dragon for one of the new ninja, or maybe it’ll already be time to cycle back to Lloyd or Nya. What else is everyone looking forward to? -
Exciting news out of the LEGO Ideas review - the Ideas team has stated that the upcoming “Minifigure prize machine” set will include a classic space minifigure in a new color. This will be decided via a fan vote in the coming weeks. This could be a fun opportunity to get a fun color, like teal or lime green. Or alternatively we could get light blue to finally complete the “Everyone is Awesome” lineup for spacemen. It’ll be interesting to see the options listed in the poll and what they ultimately decide!
