Updated with new dark blue shoulder armour to match the colour of the printed armour (which was better, this or the black?), along with a simple fix to one of the AT ST's Klatoonian marauders so they're not twins:
-
New custom figure of Cal Kestis from Fallen Order on FST: It's a decent likeness but Cal's so milk-toast, such an intergalactic Richie Cunningham and has terrible dress-sense so I'll pass on this one. If they'd made a Second Sister however, I'd have submitted my purchase already (even without a helmet!)!

Ah good to know she doesn't look awful, many thanks it's a little too pixie-cut from the other side for me to be completely satisfied, but at least she's got the dangling asymmetry with this style. Sometimes I put the little extras together and go "There it is! That's them!" with a eureka moment of capturing the character, but with Cara the hair's either too short or too long and didn't know what translates best best upon current hair style availability. So whilst I'm not entirely happy with her, at least you haven't said "Why have you made Cara Dune look like Brenda Lee?" Incidentally, I don't believe that hair piece is available officially in black... my part was actually bright yellow and I just coloured it in with a permanent black sharpie! All that said, I guess the more I look at the source material, the length isn't too different actually:
-
Now this is just me playing around to make a more accurate Cara Dune, the hair's too short and literally a pixie bob, yet really wanted to capture some of her hair's asymmetry so used the following hair piece: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=37823&name=Minifigure, Hair Female Short Tousled with Side Part&category=[Minifigure, Hair]#T=C Looked and looked for official and custom hair that's a better match, but can't find anything at present. So here's an updated Cara Dune that I'm undecided about. That said, short hair allows for her to wear shoulder armour (waiting on a dark blue alternative style to come down, see how that looks), also replaced the arms with half-sleeves and gave her a more accurate heavy blaster. Here's her alongside FST's Moff Gideon with his alternate face that's not shown on the website. Thoughts?

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Daddy_Stardust replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Totally agree. For a retail Lego set and all the limitations they must face for price points and part counts, the Razorcrest looks excellent, definitely going to be getting it. It's solid, it's large, it looks like what it's meant to be, effort has clearly gone into it. I'm sure Lego has been very reserved towards larger sets for non-film vehicles over the last few years, especially after the likes of Rebels and Freemakers (and the latter got way too many big vehicles) likely didn't perform to hopes, then Resistance has nothing but two TIE Fighters, then making sequel vehicles from concept art that either doesn't make the film or works differently on camera (FO Snow Speeder, FO Scout Heavy Walker, Kylo's first shuttle). Plus I don't know how popular the range was but I doubt the Solo range tore up the sales charts either due to the underperformance of the film itself. They likely expected Mando and its merch to be another underperforming entrance into the franchise, especially as a subscription-only show. Then it turns out to be awesome and beloved by the whole fanbase, has a mascot character that's gone viral and everyone going "why haven't they released his massive freighter as a ship yet? Stupid TLG!" It makes perfect business sense that the first thing they released was the most familiar vehicle outside of a New Republic X-Wing (especially as the TROS X-Wing was released at the same time) in the form of the Marauder AT-ST even if I myself was disappointed the only vehicle we got from the show is one that came out so recently with the Rogue One wave. I know there's tons of MOCs that are better, but compared to some other recent larger vehicles like the Sentinel Landing Craft, the Conveyex and the First Order AT-ST, all of which are literally hideous in their representation of their on-screen counterparts and had so many corners cut, the Razorcrest here feels more in line with the standards of the U-Wing, Slave 1, Tyderium, the numerous playset Falcons, the R1 and Mando AT-STs etc. in capturing the on-screen vehicle well without requiring many parts to modify and improve the set (yet that's always part of the fun anyway, especially in dressing up the cockpit interiors). Yes there's always a bit of a scale issue and the "real" vehicle isn't the prettiest thing anyway, but regardless I think it looks great and my son will be dead-excited for it. Looks like the whole side opens too, wonder if there's room to fit lots more Mandalorian warriors in there! -
If the pre-release images are anything to go by, it looks like Mando's sadly going to be the same figure. Shame, would have loved to have got him in his full silver garb. And here's Bard in action, think it's a fantastic match:

Bard from the Hobbit. Just pencil erase the side burns if you like.

Lego SW encyclopedia in April: is it worth it ?
Daddy_Stardust replied to macaron35's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well the last one went up to Rebels in 2015, so presumably this one includes additional Rebels figures released since that book was released along with Force Awakens, Freemakers, Last Jedi, Resistance, Solo, Rise of Skywalker, Mandalorian and any of the figures released for the prequels, Clone Wars, OT and expanded universe ever since too. So that should be a fairly largely amount of additional content, especially as it's a lot more than just a figure catalogue, it goes into trivia about the characters, the parts and prints used etc. Plus I'm really liking that Crimson Dawn Maul. About time we got another character from Solo and he'll go perfectly with my Crimson Dawn characters: Edit - My own post just justified my purchase, just pre-ordered it haha. -
[MOC] Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order - Exploring Zeffo
Daddy_Stardust replied to KevFett2011's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very cool, what parts have you made Cal from? -
I think the figure's fine for Moff Gideon, bought it and it actually has an alternate face of his little sadistic smirk that may arguably be a little bit more accurate to the actor's features. If anything the hair's the hardest part to match on a minifigure. Cara Dune only really needs better hair to be a more accurate match. Hoping a custom company releases one that'll match her more closely. Bought more black short sleeve arms to put on her figure though, think that'll look way better than the bare arms... and fingers crossed FST release a tattoo-accurate arm for her, just as they did for Griff Halloran.

Season 5, episode "The Lawless" -
Very nice indeed, what's the container crate built from though? I've seen that on other MOCs such as the one below and can't tell how it's been constructed?

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Daddy_Stardust replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wasn't originally going to, since we already own the wonderful Rogue One AT-ST, but bought the new Mandalorian Raider AT-ST though haven't built it yet. Bricklinked a red light brick to mod the cockpit, an alternate head for one of the raiders from an old ROTJ set and bought custom FST arms and rifle for Mando. My son expressed an interest in the set, so snatched it during a price drop on Amazon, but also because 'every little helps', wanted Lego Group to know there's demand for Mandalorian sets by buying it. Come on, we need a Razor's Crest, they surely can't be 'one and done' with such a recycled set? I know they probably figured they were playing it safe for maximum sales potential by issuing a classic vehicle to tie in with the show, but it actually put me off cos I didn't want a nearly identical AT-ST that's not even of Imperial alignment or colouring. -
[ MOC] Mandalorian Land-Speeder W/75267 minifigs

Neat little speeder, which funnily enough bares an uncanny resemblance to the actual Mandalorian Speeder released from the Clone Wars. Was the retail model an influence? -
The all new Moff Gideon from Firestar Toys:

Don't know about "soon", it took 7 months for the last restock after Katie advised me it would be in "a few weeks" back in May. The restock finally occurred in mid December, finally got my Jaldine Gerams one then to complete my collection thanks to my "notify me when this is back in stock" alert. So it may be another long wait, but if you need any, make sure you click the 'notify' email button on their site for each one you want. It works and avoids disappointment and constantly having to check the site.

Thank you for the different windscreen photos... still think it's a revolting looking half-finished ship, but the red TIE windscreen at least makes it look a bit more respectable. The windscreen it comes with, screen-accurate-regardless, just makes me think of the rear window of the First Order SF TIE Fighter and just looks wrong. With a red TIE windscreen and the whole body in black or dark bluish grey, with the central shaft of plates along the wings also in black, it could look quite decent... out of the box though, ugh, think it's hideous.
-
Dash Rendar disagrees! Since when did wearing more than one belt ever stop a Star Wars character haha?
-
To be honest I find the model utterly hideous looking, certainly not one for my shopping list, but enjoyed your review and certainly appreciate its introduction of more pointy triangular pieces. Although not necessarily accurate to the movie version, how does it look with the normal TIE windscreen in red from the Force Awakens special forces TIE fighter?

Pong Krell's lower torso and just change the white arms.

I think it’s one of those things like the old EU, whereby the Republic Commandos exist because they were in Clone Wars but the story of their mission in the game didn’t. Likewise, Ackmena from the Holiday Special exists because she’s in A Certain Point of View, however the events of the Holiday Special did not.
-
Very nicely done, however off the top of my head I can see you missed out the Imperial V-Wing pilot and the Imperial cargo pilot (Bodhi Rook).
