And again I'd like to ask for your comments and criticism on a digital design for my LDD-comic. This time it is a ground vehicle, a light tank, to be accurate. I would like to know whether this design seems comprehensible to you and the idea behind it seems realistic. If all is fine with this one, I will feature this one and the frigate from the last time in the next chapter. The pic is large enough on Flickr to read the texts. Oh, before I forget: Lightningtiger, I know that you're gonna ask, so I'll answer in advance: I will NOT brickbuild it - soon T VI Balancer von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Tanks actions von HMSCentaur auf Flickr

Yesterday I cleaned up my old computer and found some pictures from 2009 - I built a TR 116 projectile rifle from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. As I am building a 3a phaser rifle now I thought I'd share the predecessor with you. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the cleaned up version (removed grey parts and better colour scheme) and there are no pictures of her functionalities. The upper white part could be removed in order to review the inner workings. Where the left hand is, in front of the trigger, there's a removable ammunition strip. The transporter device on top of the barrel could be removed and replaced with a conventional muzzle. Beneath the surface were lego technic hole bricks connected to each other with connector pins and crossaxles in order to be stable enough to play with. You could actually lift the whole thing up at the muzzle without breaking it. Enjoy! instru-tact06a von HMSCentaur auf Flickr instru-tact06b von HMSCentaur auf Flickr instru-tact06c von HMSCentaur auf Flickr

actually, this is not a bug. The forum will refresh its counters only after a certain time period because real-time counting would consume much more bandwidth. You should see a certain amount of views now. I like the ship very much! It has a feeling somewhere between carrack and galleon and the details of the hull as well as the overall shaping are look quite nice. To that matter I like that you haven't put in more cannons as this adds to realism of that era! Well done!

Sorry, I'm a bit confused and tired, had a weekend of work. Link is here: http://www.file-upload.net/download-3520602/Rocks---Shoals.xls.html

That is right. If you want to find out what a longboat can do against a first rate, you're welcome to try Update: Now, here's the correct table. In the last one, the formula for the translation from knots into squares was lost somehow, sorry again for that.

Stunning. As said, the legs are well used and so are the pistols. The whole scene is a thing of beauty. If I could take a guess, I'd say this is a likely candidate for bein' blogged!

You are quite right. Mostly French frigates featured 24pdrs in that time. But I orientated the sizes on the most common MOC-cannons here in the board. Still, there's no harm adding another size, thank you very much INFORMATION: There has been an error in the formula for transformation from speed into squares - I'll fix it and upload the new table - I am sorry for the inconvenience!

Aye. There are a few ships around here that incorporate brick-built hulls that are complete with keel and bilge and they will certainly have more weight. It would seem unfair to give those ships that happen to be much work a disadvantage :-) - To add somethin' positive: it also gives your ship more hitpoints. So, if you got a 10Kg ship with a Lego hull, just add 300g

CO means commanding officer, the captain, commander (post-captain) or lieutenant in charge (if it's a prize then it could even be a midshipman) I reserved this space so you can add yourself in there! EDIT: Here are the tables. Got questions? Shoot them right away! Please remember to include all cannons! I used this uploader as it is a very fast and easy host. Sorry about the pop-ups, Adblock killed them in my browser so I didn't notice them When the beta test's finished, I'll move them to a more suitable place.

Heyho Eurobrickers from Berlin and around Berlin, I'd like to propose a regulars' table of Eurobrickers for the capital of Germany, maybe four times a year or somethin' like that. We could join up, discuss our favourite hobby and have a drink or two. If no pub or restaurant meets your approval, I'd prepared to invite you to my home and cook somethin'. What do you folks think? Let's network!

I did not want to seem impatient, sorry. Just wanted to clear things up. Thanks for the information, though! On topic: the rules are finished as is the template for ships. I'll upload them momentarily and post the links here! EDIT: here are the template and the rules. When Phred gives his okay, the tables will be uploaded, too!

Well, I still haven't got an answer from Dragonator and Taz said he'll ask the pirates crew - I think we just have to wait for an answer

I am sending the formulae to Phred now. If he thinks everyting is correct, I'll upload everything.

Well I see you are gettin' me point Too much cannons are neither healthy for your enemy, nor you.

aye, the problem with the ensigns again. Prior to the 1850s (I don't remember the exact year, sorry) when there was a huge re-organisation of the Royal Navy, the RN was divided into three squadrons. Each squadron had a certain area with homebases and a unique ensign. The red ensign fleet was stationed in the Atlantic, the white fleet was the "home fleet", the blue fleet the Pacific, if I remember correctly. Some former colonies tend to use those markings in their flags. Now, the one with the andrew's cross would be a white ensign (after the re-organization the common ensign for all RN-vessels) and the blue one... guess which one Hope this helps!

How many cannons a ship has depends on how many you place on it. But please let's stay reasonable. If there are 50 cannons on a sloop, the sloop will play "Vasa" right in the beginning of the game. I believe there are 4 gunports for 24 pounders on the QAR, aren't there? I'd suggest putting 4 of them in there and maybe 4 additional 9 pounders on the main-deck - that is, if it would be an original QAR and no MOD. But it's only a guideline. The game's supposed to be about giving your ideas on building a chance to prove themselves, not about telling me you guys on how to build or equip your ships. I trust everybody stays fair around here.

Gentlemen, it seems like you are eager to present yourself as "beta captains" for the game, aren't you?
-
First question: Yes, like the clone conflicts here, I intend to use the board for the game. I'd had no problem, however, if people used it to play it offline. After all, it's about the Legoships. But if the actual ships would be used in an offline game, the playing fields would have to be huge - but wouldn't this be an incredible fun? Second question: that one is rather hard to explain. We used Phred's original formula to determine the maximum speed of a vessel. We then used the Beaufort Scale to tell how much speed the vessels will have in a turn. A Beaufort Number of 1 will decrease the maximum speed by 2, a BN of 5 will provide full speed and a BN of 8 will reduce speed of the smaller ships to 1 while ships of the line will still be able to maintain more sails. Does this answer your questions?

This is a great one. Even if we don't have much buildings of that style over here in Germany, it feels very alive and familiar. Must be that workin' flair
-
Okay, much work has been done. Phred and I have discussed many possibilities for the speed-matter and I think we have come to a working solution. I will post the final rules today. There'll be additional rules for having marines on board. The problem with the recharging time has been dealt with. The cannons are now weaker, as are the health points. But smaller cannons can be fired more times/per turn while bigger calibers have lesser shots per round. I have finished the templates for the ships and will upload them soon. There will be three documents in total. One *.doc sheet that can be opened with Word or OpenOffice. This one is the ship template. The next one is a pdf document containing the rules. The third one will be an excel-sheet (can be opened with OpenOffice, too). This one contains tables and formulas in order to make it easy for you to calculate your speed and your health. Taz: If you could do the baseplate, that would be brilliant! Also lookin' forward to the Hell Hound. If you folks want to do some preparations, measure your ships in terms of: Sailing area square sails Sailing area lateen sails Length and beam of the ship's main hull weight (just take the ship and step on a scale, that's how I did it. and don't forget to count your crew
-
You bump a 1 year old topic tp tell us this? Well, I'd suggest you keep looking around, you might find some even ship-likier ships than this (Cutty Sark has been shown here, the HMS Pickle would be another one), though I have to say it is a very nice creation and something else, let alone not another frigate
-
You-are-absolutely-right What was I thinking? Okay, I'll think about this. The where is a good question. I asked Dragonator if he'd like the Pirates game to be hosted in the wargames section and so far I got no answer. Considering this, I'll ask the pirates crew if were alright to play the games around here. If you could upload the pictures on flickr or alike and pm me the link, I'll shop them clean and scale them ready for you. There still some minor issues with the frikkin' speed-sheeds, so I'll need a couple of hours more, sorry. Why is ist that everytime I do somethin' like this game, work keeps gettin' in the way?
-
I love the colour scheme and some details of the stern very much! But if I might add some suggestions: if this shall be a frigate, it could use a third mast and a bit more length as frigates are always fully rigged vessels. That said, on smaller vessels of that era like frigates and sloops (your ship would seem more like a sloop to me, especially for the number of cannons), the bowsprite would be leaving the ships's mainhull at about the height of the main deck. This way, the bow could continue a bit more in order to give the ship more stability while pitching. But since you do not differentiate into different deck scetions, yet (e.g. you haven't built a forecastle, yet), it might be just and error of judgement that your bowsprite seems to be a lowered a litte too much.

Probability of returning to Classic Pirates after POTC...
Horry replied to David Thomsen's topic in LEGO Pirates
Weeeell, that's why we talked about racism, not races, right? While there are indeed no races, there is a very real racism in the world that needs to be battled. Anyway, folks. To cut a long story short. These boards are not for politics and I misused them anyway and see what I got! different opinions that don't mix up well. I think it can be assumed that we have our ideas on the matter and they've got their bases. No need to get us all battered for bein' off-topic. ON topic: Space and pirates have been there before the licensed themes came out. I'd say with Star Wars and different Space themes and subthemes co-existing for so many years now, there'd be a good chance that pirates might even be brought back to new live by potc. -
Lego City in LDD
Horry replied to LegoBuilder's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've done two neighbourhoods for my LDD comic and they get quite slow. Both are set in the future, one being an older one with classical buildings, the other one being a new block with a small military building. This one is the new block, cotaining 8747 bricks. My computer cannot stand more but I am actually pretty impressed that he made that far ;-) city 1 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr city 2 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr city 3 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr
