  3. Here we've got a good point why this is an AFOL-board. We've got standards in MOCing here we expect because we've got years (sometimes decades) of buildin' experience. Not seing them in a MOC makes us giving constructive or even destructive feedback. Legobeard says in his profile that he's 12 - Kid, this is a board for people who want to discuss building techniques and styles. When I was your age, I was using my Lego to create worlds and have fun in them - do the same - don't try to be grown up and miss all the fun by using your Lego to build models instead of playing with it. @Corydoras: Tell this to a child and I consider you heartless. So I think you thought Legobeard was an andult - If you talked to me like this, I would feel bein' treated very impolitely - So yeah, for your standard this might be a little primitive - If you now that what you say sounds harsh, why not rephrase it? I love Eurobricks for bein' a place where all the people are generous and constructive and polite and committed. Let's keep it that way.

I think raking would be best made a maneuver. It is similar to the Eldin Attack but could be made more difficult and more devastating. I'll develop somethin' for it.
  5. You are aware that his course enables you to move 2 grids per turn?

    A proposal

Yes, I'd say: If no other action than moving has been made, the anchor can be dropped. Things like gettin' your longboat into the water should take longer and need the full turn - does this make sense?

Well, dropping the anchor would certainly be possible as I included the method of warping to get free from shoals. I'd say we use up a turn for pullin' the thing back up an settin' the sails again?

I am pretty sure he's US-American, I think I've read it somewhere - now that gives us a ton of timezones, doesn't it?
  10. The mother of my fondness for Lego Pirates and ships in general! The BSB was my christmas present when I was... dunno, very young? It was propably the set longest assembled ever in my possession. Your review is superb and I love the manipulated pictures - thank you for this!

Viewing can be a goof solution but if larger fleets are battling this might get messy. I actually don't know why my pictures are bein' displayed that small on Flickr, as I upload 1164x1772 there and you can see much more. We'll work on that. Problem is: If I get the pictures even bigger with all the details worked out, the computer gets veeeery slow. Feels a bit like workin' on LDD with 12k + bricks. EDIT: Free Flickr has a maximum size of 1024 pixels, as I just found out. @Admiral Croissant: Yes, I'll add effects, already have some in reserve @Phred: Adding the button would be brilliant! And The roundup would be a suitable thing - I'll note it. I am really interested in what questions and problems this test will reveal What I would find very helpful would be a link to a world-time clock so everybody can see what time it is for the opponents and the host. I feel like delaying the game because here it's always night if you guys ar up and runnin'.
  12. Round 2 Round 2 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr Note: A bigger picture can be seen if clicking the picture and then selecting "large" for viewing on Flickr.
  13. Oh yes, that's a great example of me bein' sloppy. You are right, it should be 14 damage. And Capt.JohnPaul, your broadside actually is 140 strong (4x35) and addtionally just add the 2 nine pounders per broadside So, all clarity removed? Let's start ROUND 1 Round 1 von HMSCentaur auf Flickr
  14. I second that! And besides: I am no expert in licenced themes. But to me it seems that Lego goes a long way in preserving the classic pirates style in their POTC line. I think that if you're a child and want to play with the Imperial Flagship and this BP then it fits perfectly. Its not the most accurate representation but then again I think most of us folks would find somethin' to nitpick If they made a 1:1 Lego scale Black Pearl
  15. Alright, maybe I should not fish for compliments. I just ordered the necessary parts for three of my LDD models on bricklink. It may take some time as I am in the process of movin', but I'll build this and another couple of things for real. And tomorrow, I'll upload the LDD files anyway. If there's somebody willing to build my cloud-castles I will not stand in the way And thank you all for your comments BlackKnight, Lightningtiger and KielDaMan! I felt a little like bein' inflationary with LDD designs over here and I always feel that gettin' comments in the Sci Fi board is more difficult that gettin' feedback in other subsections, so I really appreciate your posts!
  16. Holy moly! This is.... huge+detailed+impressive+carefulbuilt= frikkin' awesome! I liked Avatar mainly for two reasons: it gives a broad audience a perspective on cultural and industrial depletion regardless of their education. And the care for technical sci-FI realism. You captured a piece of Sci-Fi jewellery rather well, Sir, kudos for this! PS: id does not have, by any chance, any interior?
  17. You are very welcome. I tried similar ideas on LDD a few weeks ago so this didn't pop out of nothin'. By the way: Do you plan on brickbuilding that monster? Because I think the holes could be covered much more easily in real life as LDD does not allow for some techniques to be displayed properly.

To put it in a nutshell: I thought it might be fun "comparing" the vessels by letting them fight each other in one on one games or fleet battles. So we developed some rules and are puttin' them to a test now in the new thread. If you want to know the game, then I'd say read those: Rules are here tables are here Spec sheets are here
  19. Well, quite a task you've got there. Here is my suggestion for doin' the planking. It does not cover all holes and it takes time but this would be an approach. Hope it helps! By the way: Your link leads to a lot of data that seems to contain personal information - maybe you want to take the link down or make the other data private if you don't want everybody to see it
  20. Not at all. If this is supposed to be a galleon-type, I'd say the crew's even a bit small. But actually, since this is a very free approach on a ship in means of technical accuracy, I'd say he's fine with every amount of crew
  21. This is darn impressive, I have to say. I love the hull. Although not bein' sure sure of how to rate it, it looks very good and carefully designed. Especially the colour scheme and the curving appeal to me. This wold be a galleon variant, wouldn't it? If I may suggest: higher masts and more sails would do it good
  22. Welcome to the first battle of Rocks & Shoals! This is a battle between Whiz and Capt.JohnPaul. Please present links to your chosen ships and specifications. As this is a beta-test, we will use the following map on which I will place your ships. Starter Map von HMSCentaur auf Flickr

Well, in technical terms mounting a 24 pounder onto a longboat (much more a dinghy if we look at the standard boats of TLG) would be impossible. And even if it could carry that weapon, firing it would blow the boat to pieces - the recoil would simply smash the poor little thing. But since it has been done by TLG and we don't want to discourage imagination, I'd say, let them have a 24 pounder - considering this, a dinghy or a longboat would make an estimated 3 knots per turn in every direction. Capt.JohnPaul: Yes, the host will shop them onto the grid. We'll start soon, I'd say.

This is what I get for bein' too impudent. I wanted to include rounding into the formula. This means, it's good in rounding - too good. Your speed should be 1 square, then. And yes, sadly the last table had no formula at this field at all, there was only a three, hence your marvelous three squares.
