  1. Good work! Is it possible to see more pictures?
  2. BTW: have you seen some of the other Emerald MODs? Eg: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41596
  3. Well! I love what you are doing - don't get me wrong! You are living my dream: I have about 250 straight and 25+ curved tracks, 8-10 motors, 4 signals and 15 switch points - all 12v. My problem is the space: I don't have it. My layout usually stays only for 2 days :-(
  4. Congratulations with your buy. For the cleaning of the conductors I use some cloth damped in de-naturalised ethanol. I never managed without breaking some of the inside plastic clamps forcing me to glue the top and bottom of the housing when assembling again. The following is by far the best topic on cleaning I have ever found: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50345&view=findpost&p=893107. @Sok: do you manage without breaking and glueing?
  5. Well, yes and no. It is true that there is not much advanced detail, but the platforms seem more crowdy with people but also simple details: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7822-1 & http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7824-1
  6. Very nice - this one is only getting better! You could add some details outside the buildings; bench, time-table, luggage rack...
  7. Lovely, and somewhat 'old school'!
  8. Yes - just remove the red plates - these were added for 'trackless' play. I added a 12v-motor which I found very easy. So, everyone, just go 12v ;-)
  9. Good job! I really like "your underside" - very inventive and realistic! How about the length? How does it deal with curves? BTW - excellent pictures!
  10. Nice work - have you added any signals?
  11. I am not sure what the requirements for a shunting locomotive are exactly, but I have found some inspiration on the net: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41215338@N04/sets/72157626302233390/with/5687922545/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/technoandrew/sets/72157620421828275/with/3661253250/ http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/106414 http://www.flickr.com/photos/lego_engineer/sets/72157624201377362/with/4668876954/ and some more: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=325368 http://www.flickr.com/photos/duq/sets/72157625131139481/with/5121912904/ I even found something which looks like building instructions (it contains lxf files?) http://www.mrblue.it/LEGO/LDD.htm and look for shunter
  12. It should be easy for you to participate in the Wild West Train competition...
  13. I like your intention and have been working on the same. I found some inspiration on the internet which might be valuable. What do you think of these 3 suggestions by my favourite 12v builder Olivier Zacek? Alternatively, you could be inspired by the suggestion in the train catalogue 7777 (see pages 42-47). Please keep us posted!
  14. I guess you got the 7740 which have pantographs. Do you want to know if any have pantographs which actually conduct electricity? These do not exist. Or are you just interested in custom pantograph examples enthusiasts might have created?
  15. This is truly amazing. This loc is completely perfect! I am looking forward to see the rest of the collection. BTW, it is interesting to see that most MOCs are made in non 12v - is there any specific reason?
  16. Hi there! My name is Harald and I am into the 12v grey area - Classic Town style. My parents recently moved to my neighbourhood and brought me my 2 moving boxes with my 20 year old 12v-gear. Initially, these boxes were placed in the attic and I didn't pay much attention to them. But after a hectic evening and night of building and playing and some series of internet impulse purchases, my collection has six-doubled! I simply loose track of time and place when I fiddle with my Lego. Unfortunately, space is scarce in my little house, so my layouts can only last for 2 days in average :-( That's why I usually do not succeed with much else than placing tracks and playing even though my daughters and neighbour boys are keen to help - see picture and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLUxSfVJB_U. But I love it! Anyways, I hope to get some more inspiration from this forum (best train forum so far) as for example when I had to clean my 12v motor. Brick on!
  17. Thank you really very much for this thorough explanation - you made my day!
