Don't put too much stock in those code names. There were a few versions of the early price list circulating, with different code names assigned to different set numbers, some of which proved inaccurate.

There's a decent chance it will be. Amazon's last exclusive — Vader's Castle —was marked down quite a bit for Prime Day the year it came out. But, it only lasted an hour or so if I recall correctly.

A few years back a LEGO representative said in a panel discussion that Hasbro's license precluded LEGO from releasing a Star Wars CMF. The discussion was recorded and is available on YouTube. No, I don't keep the link in my back pocket; I imagine if you search for it, it will come up. That said, the rep could have been saying that just to shut down the question (which I gather gets asked a lot) or because LEGO simply didn't/doesn't want to issue a CMF for whatever reason.

The Cantina is still available. The Yoda's Lightsaber GWP (gift with purchase) sold out almost immediately. In the U.S. From what I read it sold out in the UK very quickly as well.

It is due to retire at the end of the year. It has been mostly out of stock on lego.com since March, though I have seen it reappear or show up as on backorder... I think it was there yesterday, but seems to have sold out again. Some third-party stores (Amazon, Target, etc.) may have stock still as well. I received an email promoting the lightsaber GWP this morning. After it had already sold out.

It sold out in under an hour.

It may have been a US-only thing. Here we had 3 or 4 days of sales in 2019. Each day had a handful of different sets on sale. Most were 20% off, but I think one each day was 30% off. There was also a holiday-themed gift with purchase, though it sold out within the first day or two. I don't recall if there were double VIP on top of all that or not. Previous years were not so complicated and just had a single batch of sets on sales, most of which disappeared within the first day.

It has been listed as retiring at the end of this year. Usually LEGO puts large retiring sets on sale over Black Friday weekend and then are gone for good, unless you can find it at a big-box retail store like Amazon, Target, etc. That said, sales may not happen this year due to COVID-19, or may not be as deep.

I would be careful not to read too much into these figs. They are just silhouettes on a very preliminary, almost generic box. They could easily be placeholders for three completely different figures.

It sold out within a day or so. There is no indication there is more stock coming, as it was a limited run originally intended for a convention.

Since Toyfair NY, so February. Covid may be to blame for the staggered release of the 1H 2021 sets, but it is highly unlikely that it had anything to do with the total number of sets or their composition.

The 1H 2021 set list (which included no battle packs) was circulating well in advance of the release of the 501st set. (Not to mention the fact that we know the 2021 set numbers were already assigned a year ago, when the Mando Brickhead and Child statue were added.) So, no.

The Ewok Village supposedly sold very well. A companion set for it like the one you describe would be my top choice for the next MBS, and would probably do well for LEGO.

Yeah I forgot about Jabba's Palace; it would be an easy choice for LEGO to do as well. Someone will inevitably bring up the faux-controversy that followed the last System version, but I doubt LEGO took that seriously enough to not release another one. Or the Barge, if they wanted to scale one up from the last System version. Hasbro released a $500 version of it a year ago and it already sells for 3-4x its original price. There is clearly a market for it. That said, it's probably 2ish years before another MBS playset is released. My money's on a TIE Interceptor next May to battle the A-Wing, and the Gunship next fall. But who knows.

Your location is listed as the United States. Not seeing what prices in other currencies have to do with your opinion of this set? Disney Castle has fewer new molds (3 for the Cantina, don't think the Castle had any when it was launched), doesn't have a giant mold like the Dewback, and has far fewer minifigs (21 vs. 5). All of these things directly impact a set's budget and price. The Disney Castle is also 4-5 years old; if it were released today, it would no doubt be $50 more. And, not all parts are equal; comparing two sets' value solely by their part-per-price ratio ignores that one set may be loaded up with small/simple parts, while the other has more complex molds, larger parts, etc.

Not to mention Betrayal at Cloud City which had 350 fewer pieces, the same number of minifigs, and cost the same (at least in US dollars). Some people just default to complaining about price, no matter what the reality is...

You're being a bit reductive here. His point is that the original Star Wars movie actually did the heavy-lifting to introduce the audience to the concept of the Force, Jedi, etc. whereas TPM just assumed you already knew who the Jedi were, that they could use the Force, what the Force is, etc... The same way that Luke, an outsider, was being introduced to these concepts, the audience was too. These are pretty essential to understanding and appreciating all the movies, whereas midichlorians, where R2/3PO came from, etc. are not at all essential to your understanding or appreciation of any of the movies. There are also things in the OT that heighten the audience's anticipation of the PT, and things in the PT that spoil the audience's enjoyment of the OT... two reasons to watch the OT first. For those of us that saw the OT first, hearing Obi-Wan casually drop this mention of "the clone wars" and how Luke's father fought in them, without any real explanation, totally piqued the audience's interest... people wanted to know what he was talking about, and see that story unfold. Conversely, key OT plot points like Luke's relationship to Vader, his relationship to Leia, and even Yoda's identity are all needlessly spoiled if you watch the PT first. There are realistically only a handful of other choices that make sense as a build of this size. Maybe another Endor set... Geonosis... Yavin perhaps, though that setting is lacking in action sequences... as much as I would love it, it boils down to lots of people standing around a table/screen talking. The Jedi Temple has the same problem... it's 12 guys sitting in chairs. Not saying these won't ever happen, but I can definitely see why a location like the Cantina was chosen first.
