Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
THELEGOBATMAN replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
The only characters I care about are the X-Men ones, and that's because we haven't gotten basically anything for nearly a decade. Gonna get only those. The problem with this series is that it's based on the Disney+ series'. They are all mediocre, or in some cases awful. I genuinely couldn't care less about any of those characters. I'm sure the minifigures will look good, but it doesn't matter imo. Wolverine is literally one of Marvel's most popular characters, probably the second one right after Spider-Man. You're overestimating how popular Kang is. Apart from MCU / Marvel fans, no one cares about him. He will be remembered as a mediocre antagonist from an Ant-Man movie. -

This one actually looks really cool. Definitely one of the best buildable objects they've done. The only complaints I have is that it would look better if the middle claw was longer. The price should also be 20€ less. -

Season 2 hasn't actually been announced yet. What we got was Season 1 Part 1, and we're getting Part 2 this Fall. This will be the first season. -

Huh, wonder if we'll be getting more sets in January. Six would be the smallest Ninjago wave ever, especially with half of them being gimmicks. -

Not really, no. I have mixed feelings. I loved Ezra's portrayal of Barry(s) and their character arcs, it was done extremely well. The movie was also extremely goofy, comicbook-y, and overally enjoyable. The special effects and action scenes ruined some of its charm tho. If they were done well, it would be a really good movie, offering everything it could. But because the CGI is so horrendous (seriously, those are the worst effects you'll ever see in a big-budget movie), it distracts from enjoying some pretty big parts of it, because every action sequence is pretty bad. So imo it's a good story with awful action, which makes it a pretty mediocre movie. It's still a pretty memorable and extremely unique movie tho. -

Making a new, big head mould with a stud on top would be a weird move if they were just gonna make separte head moulds for characters with hair. -

Awesome that they're included, but strange that LEGO hasn't shown them on official images. -

I've built the smaller Ninjago sets (Nya's Dragon Power and the Temple Battle) and they are really nice. Ninjas' suits look great, and so do the hooded shoulder pieces. Masks are still a problem tho. They look better in person, and the covered face prints definitely help with the overall look (even though they don't appear in the series), but the biggest problem is how smooth and helmet-y they are. The small gaps between the shoulder pieces and the masks don't help, no idea why they kept those. -

Ordered the Elemental Dragon vs. the Empress Mech, Nya's Dragon Power, and Kai and Rapton's Temple Battle. Can't wait to build all of those. Also, gonna watch the new season (or rather the first half of it) today. Really excited, the reception seems to have been positive so far. -

They didn't. This was in no way connected to Into the Spider-Verse. It was a wave of regular Spider-Man sets that happened to release around the time the movie premiered. Maybe it inspired them to include Miles and Gwen, but it could've been just a coincidence. -

Yeah, this is officially the worst LEGO set ever. The build is hideous. It looks absolutely awful. For that price its back should not look like this. And not even a new Captain America minifigure. A real slap to the face of potential buyers — even Mjolnir had a new Thor variant. -

Since it's a new era of Ninjago, I'm gonna go all out and but the Elemental Dragon vs. The Empress Mech set, plus the Nya Dragon Power. (I don't usually buy sets bigger than 50€ since I like to keep my collection more compact, but I make certain exceptions. 100€+ sets are a rarity for me.) I love that set so much, the dragon is absolutely incredible, and the Mech is surprisingly fantastic too. It also has the best minifigure selection if you want to buy the magazines. (Out of five minifigures in 2023, only Ras is a repeat, which leaves me with four additional characters.) Other sets I adore are the Temple and the Heatwave Dragon. The Temple is similar in price to the Dragon vs. Mech set, but I'd end up without Jay and Sora, both of who are my most wanted characters (along with Nya). The Dragon has a minifigure selection problem, where four out of five characters will be included in the magazine this year. -

Green Goblin did not need a mask, he literally destroyed it right after he appeared in the movie. He needed a hood tho. Electro also doesn't need a mask, since he has hair, not a helmet. Even if they made a new mould they couldn't reuse it for classic Electro. -

That perfectly represents No Way Home's final battle — a dark, ugly CGI mess where you couldn't properly tell which Spider-Man was which But to be honest, I don't know what more they could've done to differentiate between those two. The beads are different enough (Andrew's eyes should be slightly bigger), and the torsos are pretty different too. -

They really should've made Schumacher Batman sets imo. Sure, the movies are not loved by any means, but I think they'd make for some really interesting sets. And let's be honest, kids nowadays have no idea who Keaton is and have no connection whatsoever to those movies. We ended up getting three Batman and Joker: Batman and Joker with a Batmobile, Batman and Joker but with a Bawting, and Batman and Joker but 4+. The prices do not help. They all feel like they should be 8€ cheaper, especially the Batmobile. I'll be buying the Batwing tho, it will look great on my Batman movies display. -

The No Way Home set is a huge suprise imo — the build is actually better than the minifigures. I thought they'd just quickly put together some rubbish, but it actually looks like the Statue's head, and makes for a great display piece. It looks quite impressive with the minifigures displayed. The minifigures are mostly great too. Everyone looks fantastic except for Green Goblin and Doc Ock — the former is way too green. His suit in the movie is extremely detailed and features more colours than just green; the minifigure looks just plain, and they should've included a hood. Doc is way too gray, his coat should've brown-ish. The arms are also quite disappointing. So you know, the set itself looks fantastic — but there are other problems. Even though it has 900 pieces, it looks like a 70€ set. The problem with dioramas is that they are quite complex builds, which makes them really compact, which in result makes the sets look small and not worth the price. Then there's the obvious Lizard problem. It was a perfect opportunity to include a character they've never done before — and yet for some reason they chose not to. That is baffling and makes the set less interesting. Sandman's hand is a nice inclusion, I just wish it was bigger. Even tho I'm not a fan of the movie, I'll still be buying this set. Not only does it include extremely desirable minifigures, but it's actually a fantastic display piece too. Not to mention that in a few years it will be one of the best-selling sets on the aftermarket. Weird that they didn't put this set for pre-orders. It would sell out immediately. The other sets are a mixed bag. Groot actually looks awesome and is the second-best 2023 LEGO Marvel set? That was not on my bingo card. The Endgame set has a nice build for display, but it looks even smaller than the Spider-Man one, like a 60€ set. The minifigures are boring too — repeats or minor upgrades. Two Wakandan characters but not a single Guardian? Should've replaced Okoye with Mantis. The Hulkbuster is hilariously awful, even by 4+ standards. -

Interesting to see that some dragons from Core, like Cole's Earth Dragon and Zane's Ice Dragon Creature are present in the actual Dragons Rising episodes.
