REVIEW: Creator 5770 Lighthouse Island
ManitobaMoe replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I bought this set for my wife for mothers day as she loves the creator series but was shocked to find out that she could not build it due to the fact 65 pieces were missing. I know others like myself keep boxes sealed for the future and i would be devastated if this would have been one of those sealed boxes i kept. This will be a long letter to Lego for sure. I never complained about the odd missing piece but this is terrible -
The harbor and Light house sets have made it in to stores in Winnipeg. Got 2 harbors out of the 5 on display when we went to make roses for mothers day.

And it can even have a train to boot :)

I can hardly wait :)

Well the parts track allows you to have rails and timbers in your yard waiting for assembly, i still prefer the easy of the pre formed tracks

Hi, I am Manitoba Moe and I am addicted to Lego trains, well at least the cool looking ones. I have always loved them but as a kid, the money was tight and i could look but never afford them. I am making up for lost time by slowly buying the sets i find cool or that fit in with my town. It really helps to have a loving wife that actually enjoys doing this with me and puts up with the large investment.

How open are you about your Lego passion?
ManitobaMoe replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I dont hide my collection so most who know me or visit my house know about it. Most think it is cool but some think i need to grow up. When the subject comes out and i tell them that i do the lego display at the local farm toy show, then they remember me :) I have never really cared what others think but i do love when little boys and girls dont want to leave the displays or when my sons friends drool over my display. Makes up for what i did not have as a kid -
WTB LEGO Holiday train set 10173 in USA or Canada
ManitobaMoe replied to Lego Otaku's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I can remember when i walked into a lego brand store and they were blowing them out at 35 bucks a piece. i begged my wife to let my buy 10 as i knew they would go up or i would have one crazy village. Of course she said no. Last year i bought her 1.5 holiday train sets and paid more than i would have for the 10 i wanted to buy. Good luck with finding a cheap one as most sell around 200 to 300 bucks. They don't get much cheaper just because they are opened -
Well the only Lego farm stuff that is even close to scale is the Tractors. Now lego does have a blue one with the main farm set that you could clone. Would be nice to see some grain handling equipment to go with the new sets coming out this year. I have built small combines and swathers but never have luck building a true mini fig scale farm

Big train setup ready to unbox - how to config it?
ManitobaMoe replied to xangodango's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Yes, the 12v and 9v are compatible with the pf trains. I am glad to hear about your opinion on the passenger train. I want it for my town but feel it just doesnt fit in -
I have paid dearly for sets that i have wanted that were classic. I have paid premiums on a lot of my trains from the past. My last crazy purchase was road plates which i paid about $10 each (55 of them) to add to the town. I know i could have bought new ones cheaper but the old ones just look better

Lego Master Building Academy (MBA)
ManitobaMoe replied to Darth Jar Jar's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I hope it is available to Canada. I would pay 10 bucks a month no problem. -
So beautiful. It gives me ideas for my wife's church. Thanks for sharing

I had the garbage truck in my town, just not in the street. It actually scales closely to their new semis. I tied Jesse to a spur that wasnt used and had buzz flying around on the octan tanker. The kids just loved them

Well since it is so roomy and the new lego mini figs are out, it just screams monster lab :) Could even lease a little space to a hazmat team incase of accidents. Very nice looking building, kind of reminds me of the older style factories. Brewery, or Mini car factory would work as well

Well the loving wife bought me all the series 4 minifigs (except the viking and hockey player) 2 banana tree games she found on sale and 2 windmill transport sets that we wanted for extra windmills. They seem to be a hit at the local shows as we now have a wind farm 1 hour to the west and 1 hour to the east
-
Nothing wrong with using official sets. Love the layout though i think you need a few more base plates than i do :) Love you main street building

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
ManitobaMoe replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Managed to get them all yesterday except the viking and the Hockey player. Given that they only came out in Winnipeg 2 days ago, they are already sold out at most places -
You did a really great job on that.

Cool modification of that creator house.
