  1. A nice sturdy tower with plenty of room for all the soldiers. Noticed you're flying a mix of Avalonian and Mitgardian colours, thinking of defecting?
  2. I thought Avalonia was the 'happy' guild but it seems you lot have a secret penchant for torture Nice MOC by the way.
  3. Hail! Thought I'd have a little stab at the Economic Mini Challenge: The Walrus Hunt Native Mitgardians have hunted the sea ice flows off the north coast of Mitgardia for generations. The pelts and tusks are sold on to traders such as the Worlds End Caravan Co. who transport them on to foreign markets in Avelonia, Kaliphlin and on occasion Nocturnus where they command a fine price as luxury items. My Flikr Hvar Icewind For Mitgardia!
  4. Again, the point im trying to make is that we should just stick to convensional weapons and leave gunpowder, steam tech etc to the inconsequential MOCs so no faction feels others have unfair military advantages. Also just for the sake of truth, you've got it the wrong way round. As a concept steam powered devices predate gunpowder by ~900 years. My link @ SKaForHire No worries mate! Check out TomcatRio's stuff in the Mitgardian thread for his wonderous beasts! I'm going to leave it there and stop hijacking this thread as this should be about Dargor. Keep on MOC'n buddy!
  5. Referencing history and conventional timelines is not really applicable here when there are already elves, dwarves, dragons and mammoths about! The point I was trying to make is that we should steer from excessive weaponry and conversely I dont think a steam powered pump/lift in a mine would attract the same kind of critcism (as an example). Anyway S-O-T has spoken...
  6. @ Kabel Enthusiasm is still flying high! The Worlds End Caravan Co. are currently hard at work charting the realm and constructing a watch tower to guard one of our southern trade routes. As you can see our best stonemasons and carpenters are on site. @ S-O-T Thank you for clearing this up. Our stores of medium green sleve material were exhausted almost immediately and suitable dyes have not been located at the trading posts we have visited recently! We have been issuing guards with white or brown sleeves and have found that they still look like fearsome northmen, especially standing united under green and yellow banners. The Company has been working on a distinguishable banner of a single white flag (representing the snowy wastes they dare to cross) beneath the great green and yellow (to demonstrate their loyalty and service to the Jarl of Mitgardia). Your Loyal Subject, Hvar Icewind For Mitgardia!
  7. This is cool, very steam punk-ey! Its the kind of creation I was hoping to see more in Mitgardia's forces thanks to our large dwarven population and I hope to see more great inventions from you Dargor. That said, I'm with Angeli and others on restricting the use of gunpowder. I suspect there will be a Royal Decree from Cedrica soon before things get crazy. Although this MOC minus the cannon would be just inside the allowance given to 'dwarven engineering' (I think this has been mentioned before) in my humble opinion.
  8. Excellent MOC 'The Penguin'. Golems are a great idea, a little expensive for guarding watch towers though? Just a suggestion: Rather than a watchtower, this building would look great as the treasury of Mitgarida (with perhaps a second floor). Not only do you have the appropriate title, surely there are no better guardians than Golems for our great wealth as they dont need to take breaks and can be trusted 100% to not steal. And it gives a new meaning to the phrase 'make your money work for you'
  9. Greetings fellow Mitgardians. Just a quick reminder to say I shall be starting work on the final version of our map of Mitgardia this week. If you still want anything included let me know by tomorrow.
  10. You've definately nailed the Mitgardian look. Thanks to these watch towers my trade caravans are able to travel safely through our lands and bring more prosperity to the guild!
  11. This is shaping up to be beyond awesome. Great job Derfel!
  12. I'm a full blooded Mitgardian but heres a couple of suggestions; Westmarch or Westguard.... as you're in the West. Clever ay? A few others: Kingsreach, Lordshaven.
  13. Wow! Great job on incorporating all 4 regions! You've represented Mitgardia nicely. I'll make my final version sync with your layout. Let me know if you are overhauling anything.
  14. Good work with the tower my fellow Mitgardian. I like the icicles!
  15. I am building a watch tower but I shall be leaving my entry pretty late as I have a few bricklink orders on the way (my viking collection was non-existant prior to this competition). Hopefully I can get a WIP shot done in a week.
  16. Greetings all. The Great Jarl Nibelung has decreed that the Worlds End Caravan Co. release their maps to all guild members to allow for further consolidation of the realm. I present to you the Companys first efforts to chart the realm. A final work is underway as some of our junior cartographers may have incorrectly charted a few areas. Flikr: If you want your town/tribe/city/fortress to be included in a specific location please PM me with a description or (preferably) save a copy, add your location and then PM me for my email adress so you can send it over to me. Try and keep it to one location each unless you need further locations as a result of official guild business. Please try and let me know ASAP. Thanks Hvar Icewind Owner of Worlds End Caravan Co.
  17. Everything seems to be happening so fast! The lands of Mitgardia are well known to the Worlds End Caravan Co. and I should be happy to draft a map if thats what our leader wishes.
  18. Yes I certainly am. The Lego has been put away for a few days, time for a little "background research" ....
  19. Hi Derfel, I think its just the shields that are giving your men a Nordic look. We've got to share the green and I guess we have a degree of responsibility ourselves to use a bit of yellow here and there as you've touched upon. My suggestion to resolve this problem would be to quickly ensure the guild colours and soldiers are different and accessible enough, after that everything else is fair game and its up to you to customise a particular race or faction with your own guilds colours. I think we have to accept that Orcs, Elves, Dwarfs etc may happen to live in more than one region and may serve under more than one banner.
  20. After reviewing this thread a few times I just want to say well done everyone, we have some fantastic builders (did someone mention Mammoths!?! ) and ideas for our guild and I'm sure we will do well in any competition. I have some slight concerns about the current overlap with Avalonia, particularly their leaders suggestion of a standard of soldier that is near identical to ours (see Derfel's post in Avalonia thread at 08:29 PM). Also which faction can lay claim to the elven 'elk shield' (I figure the beast in question is more at home in Northern forests?) I would just like some assurance before I go a bit crazy on bricklink and so I wont get caught out by a change in art direction. Thank you. To Etzel's post below: Thank you for your assurance. I will try and focus on round shields, just a shame i have 10 elven shields already ordered :( As for the similarities, I think the jury is still out... (credit to our great rival, Derfel Cadarn)
  21. Sirens of Titan: Thanks for the welcome. The Worlds End Caravan Co. pledges its full alligence to the Guild and hopes that it may continue to serve and bring prosperity to the realm. A recent trade mission to a remote barbarian clan has brought about new allies... Wolf Clan The Wolf Clan are skilled hunters living on the fringes of Mitgardia. While they enjoy their indepedence the elders have fortold of a time when they must unite under the green and yellow banner with their fellow Northerners to save their way of life. An envoy is on his way to Khorne, Hersis of the Norsemen, to declare their support.
  22. There's seemingly no limit to the natural wealth of the Mitgardia. Furs, Timber, Ore and Fish are all present in abundance yet the North guards her treasures closely. Only heavily experienced and specialised trading companies, such as the Verden's Ende (Worlds End) Caravan Co. are able to successfuly reach the most remote of trade posts and return laden with exotic goods from the great cities beyond the North. Hvar Icewind, a true son of the North, is the proud owner of Worlds End and is often found accompaning the largest caravans on their journies South and West. He is accompanied by Harold Blackbone, his spychief, Jorgen Kerrow, his master of coin and Raoul and Fidel, his personal bodyguards freed from the gladiator pits of the South. Hvar also has many friends amongst the barbarian tribes and is able to pass through most territories and trade freely without conflict from the tribes.
  23. Northern Chill for me too please. Also keen to help draw up a new world map once you chaps at the top decide what content you want included.
  24. Dwarf-brik: Thanks! Glad you like it. CallMePieOrDie: Thanks. I'm still deciding where they fit in. As a child I was only familiar with Dragon Masters, Wolf Pack and Forestmen and only became interested in Castle again this summer so the other factions are not so well known to me. I meant for all the Lion factions to have their own kingdoms, perhaps for the moment they are at peace due to an alliance with the Crown Knights but civil war is on the horizon. Lordofdragonss: I can imagine the orcs teaming up with the Wolf Pack for raids and trade. The wolfpack need to spend their ill-gotten gains somehow! Skalldyr: I like Hobbits too. Perhaps they could have one of the unclaimed islands to the west. Maybe I'll design an eastern section of the map. Ninja-go could work well as a Far East faction but they'll have to leave those crazy vehicles behind. I would also welcome any suggestions for other eastern factions. Edit: Appologies, you said Ninja not Ninja-go. But yes, inclusion of the Orient Expedition would be great, as CallMePieOrDie suggests below. SI-MOCs: Thank you very much. Yes I did draw this, started last night and finished it this afternoon. I Scream Clone: You have been duely PM'd. Kristoff BD: Wolf Pack havnt been forgotten, I've just run out of creative juice. Check back soon Brinstar: Good shout! Perhaps they can go in the unclaimed eastern section of the map, unless you can think of a reason for them to go elsewhere. Wardancer: LOL @ the Switzerland comparison. I orginally had the alignments as you and Lordofdragonss have suggested, in a way it makes sense, but after consulting the following links I think I will stick with what I put. http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Skeleton http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Orc. If anything, orcs could possibly be considered Chaotic Neutral if theres enough sympathy for them.
