This tower is a beast. You've done great with the ornamental details. Would be great to see some minifigs guarding the tower.

I was working on an eastern market MOC just before Historica was announced. Thought I'd use a few elements before they were recycled: Hvar Icewind, Owner of Worlds End Caravan Co., has sailed south from Erikson to Kaliphlin on his flagship, The Ice Serpent (MOC coming soon). The ship has laid anchor off one of the Spice Islands to allow Hvar to meet with a local representitive of the Petraea General Trading Company. Hvar is exchanging part of his cargo of gems from Omurtag, blades from Pikesteel Mountain and mead from Valholl for a variety of spices and other exotic items from the south. Tomorrow they set sail for Barga and a meeting with Rasputin Jones, President of the PGTC. After 10 days at sea Hvar hopes a decent banquet will be prepared...

The forges of Pikesteel Mountain are serving Mitgardia well! Cant think of anything to suggest, the design is perfect, although I'd love to see it as part of a larger MOC or perhaps a unit of horse mounted DMBs. Mobile and rapidly deployable artillery is perfect for mountain warfare.

As De Gothia says, the raised road is a nice touch, it really emphasises that they are standing on a lake or river rather than just any patch of snow. A charming first addition to our economy section!
-
As the other chaps have said, well done with the snow, it looks great. Its excellent to see the dwarves of Pikesteel Mt making an appearance in the 1st round of the competition. Regarding the tower, its a nice simple build. The kind of utilitarianism you would expect to see from dwarves with nice individual touches such as the combination lock, stove and horn. Great job Tony, I'll put this in the index.

This is has already appeared in the guild thread but I thought it may as well have its own topic. Silently gliding their way through gaps in the pack ice off Mitgardia's frozen Northern coast, the ornate canoe's of Wolf Clan fishermen have begun to encircle a lone walrus. Nothing can be heard but the animals solitary warning cries and the soft dripping of water off a raised paddle until the dull thud of the spear hitting home is heard. Everything from this kill will be used and they know the hides will fetch a good price at the local trade post. My Flickr

You missed it. Its contained within my Guide to Mitgardia: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=63195 @Legoman273: Welcome aboard, hope to see some nice MOCs from you soon! @Everyone: I think I now have all the Mitgardian MOCs listed in my guide. Added Military and Economic Chapters to the index. (although we have no Economic MOCs to link to though ) -
@ Derfel Cadarn, Ecclesiastes, Kabel & Gabe: Thank you very much guys! @ SI-Mocs: Yes, all the terrain was hand drawn and then I added symbols and text in photoshop. @ Artanis 1: Yes theres two no. 5's but we had a lack of non-mountain towers so I thought its best to build another to cover both east and west approaches to Valholl. And yes, NiceMarmot has done a great job of mapping the South, he would get my vote for any project to map the entire continent! @ Tomcat Rio: Sounds promising! I'll add it when you've posted it in the forum. @ Etzel: A thousand appologies good sir! I shall add it to the guide right away and put your tower in a nice position when I next update the map.

@ Khorne: Thanks for the encouraging words, Tolkein was definately an influence for my style. Unfortunately I'm new to photoshop so its going to take me a while to learn how to blend the map onto a layer of parchment paper but its a fun project nonetheless. And yes everything is hand drawn apart from the symbols, borders and text. @ Ecclesiastes: Thats awesome! I've had an idea to attempt norse buildings like that but you've executed the build so well, that temple is a real credit to Mitgardian culture. The winged statue inside stands out too. -
Tree house MOCS are a favourite of mine! I love the cheeky face of the forest man looking out from his safe hideaway. I like the use of those green figure-of-eight pieces as shrubbery, I dont recall seeing that done before.

In this land of soaring peaks, winding valleys and the deepest of mines you may find wealth and danger in equal measure. Fear not though good sir, for Hvar has seen it all, from the fiery summit of Mount Mitgard to the shores of the Frozen Beyond and everything inbetween, this topical volume will guide you safely through this ancient beautiful and deadly frozen land." - Hvar Guide Includes - A review of the 20 best meadhalls The North has to offer! - 101 Barbarian greetings and goodbyes! - Where to find the best Dwarven enchanted blades? - Fantastic furs - is walrus the new seal? - Stop frostbite today! - Ancient Nordic Barrows. To dig or not to dig? - Do noisy children really cause avalanches? Chapter 1: An Overview of Mitgardia Mitgardia is the northern-most realm of men in the world of Historia. It is a chilly, mountainous region covered from border to border by great mountain ranges, pine forests and frigid lakes. From the temperate climate of the Capitol City of Valholl, to the chilly Mountain Passes in its heart, all the way to the Frozen Tundra of its Northern Wastelands, Mitgardia is a beautiful and perilous place, inhabited by a multitude of settlers, indigenous tribes and creatures. This wonderland of frost is the home of the Great Guild of the North. The History of Mitgardia The Mitgardia Guild settled the Northlands in the last two centuries, following trade routes and seeking resources that were becoming scarce in the heartland of Historia. The first Guildsmen were pioneers and traders who bought and sold skins, timber and ore to the local Norsemen Clans. As they accumulated wealth, they founded small fishing villages along the coasts and rivers and soon the seeds of a mighty Nation were sown. Expansion brought territorial conflicts with the clans of the North, the cities of the Dwarves in the Mountains, and the Goblin and Orc tribes that scavenged the forests, but the well-funded and technologically superior Guildsmen managed to hold their own. Today the city of Valholl is major settlement, and well-fortified fortress of the Guild. The Geography of Mitgardia. Not all of Mitgardia is Mountains and Tundra as you southerlings may think. Beyond the Mitgardian Peaks that form the natural border of this land there lies a great fertile valley where colonists from all over Historica have come to settle and farm. At the center of this valley lies our capital Valholl. Well situated at an intersection of trade routes and a major fork of the Antler River, it has become a great hub of commerce between the production centres of the north and the markets of the south. Beyond that lie the Great Pine Forests and two grand valleys heading north east and north west. The eastern valley brings produce from the forges of Pikesteel Mt. and other wares from the Norsemen who live around the bay of Storms. The western valley brigns more dwarven crafts from Omurtag and Timber from Helgestorp. Both valleys open out to the frozen tundra of the far north and allow contact with the barbarian clans. Across the narrow channel of the Frigid Sea lies an unexlpored land of permanent ice and snow. Barbarians tell tales of towers made of ice and lost dwarven outposts but no adventurers have yet returned with proof (or their sanity). Chapter Two: Locations in Mitgardia Towns and Settlements 1. Vaholl - Capital of Mitgardia. The seat of our great ruler, Jarl Nibelung. 2. Erikson - Royal Port of Mitgardia 3. Omurtag - The Great Dwarven Citadel of the North. 4. Hykerbia - Cultural Jewel of the East. 5. Ondylion - Guardian of the South. The city of Ondylion is located at the southern borders of the mighty North and is ruled by Elon Chorian. He and his men are feared by their enemies and respected by all the citizens. They are known for their justice and fighting-skills. Ondylion Houses by Ecclesiastes 6. Nordheim - Hometown of Hvar and The Worlds End Caravan Co. 7. Pikesteel Mountain - A Dwarven settlement located on the edge of the Barbarian Wastes. As well producing high quality steel it is home to Historica's only functioning Heavy Coal mine. "We left Northridge and continued our jouney around the Bay of Storms. The quiet of the night was occasionally punctuated by the rattle of iron and steel as wagons laden with arms and armour hurled southwards through the darkness at breakneck speed. We turned off the main road and as the forests around the Bay of Storms began to thin, the clank of hammers and the hiss of steam could be heard eco-ing through the darkness, and a huge solitary mountain came into view..." - Hvar 8. The cold nutrient rich waters of the Mitgardian Seas are teaming with life and provide a strong base for many arms of the Mitgardian econmy. A fishermans catch could be salted and served in the banquet halls of Petraea or pickled with onions and eagerly consumed by drunken Northmen in the meadhalls of Valholl. - Hvar Mitgardian Ice Fishermen by Ecclesiastes Mitgardian Walrus Hunt by Viceroy Please let me know if I've forgotten anyone or anything, I know theres a few more things to add. Also please suggest any names for regions in Mitgardia, my imagination is running low! Hvar Icewind Merchant & Bard Owner of Worlds End Caravan Co.

Hey Jason, your map is coming along great. Just one issue I have to raise about the border with Mitgardia, the north east extention of your great wall seems to enroach a little on to Mitgardian lands, it also cuts off the only river access to Cedrica from Mitgardia. If you could limit your Norther Eastern borders to the Western banks of the lake and river I think that would make things more balanced and fairer? -

Great MOC NiceMarmot. The geysers look great and the back story is nice as well. Nothing beats a tourist trap with a chance of demonic invasion! -
Such a novel idea and brought to life with a great build! I can imagine many a would-be hero has met his demise in these corridors.

Yes I added a few more things like lakes, fjords in the north and a volcano to give people more building options. I figured that a lone volcano surrounded by a plain of ash and rock could somehow fit into Mitgardian mythlogy or culture - forges or temples (dont forget minichallenge no. 4 chaps!) for example. And you're right, I'll either get a compass that matches the existing colour scheme or convert the entire map into a aged-parchment colour scheme. Construtive feedback like this is really appreciated by the way so dont be afraid to suggest any reasonable improvements. -

Thank you very much! Yes theres still towns and fortifications to be added. I'm currently undergoing a bit of experimentation to see whether I should put the names directly on the map or to use numbered icons like the Avalonian map. -

@ Fat Tony : I want one one of those!! Seeing as how the other guilds have been moving forward with their map making efforts I thought I'd give you a little preview to show that we are not being left behind. I shall be adding all your location requests later this week hopefully. And S-O-T, I wont forget your sea monster Hope you like! Hvar Icewind Worlds End Caravan Co. PS. If anyone can suggest a more Nordic font that would be appreciated. I'm also looking for a few good map symbols for villages towers etc. -
These are some really formidable siege engines, I'm just glad they're on my side! I'm impressed with the mechanical side of your work. Perfect for bombarding little brothers everywhere.

@ S-O-T : Thanks for the positive feedback on both my MOCs. I would be honored to accept any title you choose to bestow upon me! The girl is able to have a little swim as the stream is a hot spring which allows all the greenery to grow so high up! @ Basiliscus: Always nice to get comments from another guild. Thank you! I'm currently working on a MOC where my character travels to Kaliphlan on a trade mission so stay tuned. @ Busboy489: That is a fantastic MOC, the snow, the river, the way the tower spans the chasm - all just great. @ Kabel: Thanks and yes it could be quite a dilema but that can only be good for Mitgardia's chances! @Tom The Truckdriver: Welcome aboard, a nice idea to start off with, I'm keen to see where this goes. -
Hillarious update, very nicely done!

Regarding the Mitgardian Map, the first one was just a draft. The final version is on the way but the problem with hand drawing is that its very easy to make a mistake and have to start all over again! -

Hail fellow Guildmembers. The Worlds End Caravan Company have been busy constructing a tower to help guard the road to Valholl through the southern mountains. Unfortunately I have to use my phone for pictures for the next two weeks so the quality isnt the best. I'd say this is 90% complete so suggestions for a final flourish are welcome. Hvar Icewind For Mitgardia!
