More MISB finds, their worth?
Iron Moose replied to Brickmaster's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Excellent price for the Star Hawk. -
Just so y'all know, a set is missing - the Storm Lasher, at the Sonic Phantom price point.
-
Bat-Villains left: Purple Catwoman Joker in a new suit/with new hair Harley Quinn Mad Hatter Clayface Man-Bat Ra's Al Ghul & Talia Hush Riddler in a Suit ... so yeah. I think they did a bit much early on as well. At least we're still holding out hope for a Gordon.
-
I disagree. Riddler and Scarecrow were previously only available in Arkham, which, as I understand it, was not available as widely as this year's sets. I think you overstate your point.
-
Do all those parts actually exist in those colours? If so - DAMN YOU. That's really quite lovely.
-
So. This is my first MOC. The parts come from 2x the 7695 Astro Fighter, plus two black 1x2 plates with handles to hold the aliens on. The idea is that the Astronauts don't go anywhere alone anymore. I welcome criticism! And here's a larger one. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=6h2md8x Inspired by Ultraman Max Dash Machine 02 - http://ooebihara.sakura.ne.jp/ganngu/ganngu296.htm and Slugslinger - http://tfu.info/1987/Decepticon/Slugslinger/slugslinger.htm

I can't see a single BS folder - everything I'm clicking on is 'not yet public'. What's up with that?

I echo the consensus of this thread - too much technic, looks great, too expensive, looks great.

Hello all. I have just finished putting together set 7690 - the Mars Mission Eagle Command Base - and I find myself not only with the usual few spare 1x1 round plates and technic pins, but three 1x4 blue plates, an orange 1x2 modified plate with handles ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=2540 ) and a black one of these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=30055 ... I've gone through the instructions and can't find what I've missed. Has anyone else come across these pieces as extras? They are listed in the regular set inventory. Thanks, Moose

Guys, I really suspect that there's more going on in this model than we can see from this picture. There seem to be some unused 'frame' elements at the front of the quadropod... maybe the biped attaches to it somehow? Like an Evil Aero Booster... note that the Aero Booster is right under this thing in the scan.

The combined model of the original brown and blue Toa was originally named the MuKau. http://club.lego.com/eng/buildits/showbuil...atanuicow&m=red

Hi all, I suspect a misprint. If anyone's got an unused stickersheet, would they be so kind as to scan or take a photo of it? Thanks, Moose

New Mars Mission Set at TRU in USA
Iron Moose replied to xenologer's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I spoke to a TRU manager here in Ontario. He said the Drilling Unit would show up here around late July. -
Consensus of the new themes: Castle and Mars Mission
Iron Moose replied to Berry Syedow's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As far as I know, Aquaraiders are finished. (I'm sad too. I liked the Shipwreck a lot, and the base looks good too. ) Here's a dimension I don't think has been explored in the relative coolness of Castle v. Mars Mission: accessibility. What do I mean by this? I mean that Castles, Knights, Horses, Skeletons and Evil Wizards are far more prevalent in today's pop culture than ominous insectile aliens and heroic astronauts, which means that kids may already have conceptions of wizards that don't line up well with the new Castle - for instance, the only Wizard we have so far is evil, and with the HP juggernaut, that's not so cool. I mean that thanks to KK and HP, buyers already have two internally-coherent, story-backed ranges of Castle Lego, and that this new one appears more kid-unfriendly than either of those. I also mean that castles are pretty much public domain now. Anyone can build one, and most kids have an idea of what one looks like. However, I think it's far trickier to conceive of a cool Dropship, Drilling Unit or tubularly-loaded Space base - all with built-in stories thanks to the orange tubes and Alien Flying Machines. Especially given that most of the spacier parts on the market nowadays come from properties that already have strong stories attached to them: SW and E-F. So for Mars Mission, aside from 'generally white and enclosed' TLC can define the world of Mars to a greater degree than they can the Castle. I also think that there's been a very striking lack of Sci-Fi in Lego lately, and that kids are gravitating, no pun intended, to the thing that has a more implicit story to it - which happens to be Totally Conceptually Different from anything TLC's done since the last Mars Mission. Don't get me wrong: I like the looks of the new castle stuff a lot, and I am probably going to end up with a lot of them - but when I first saw the new range in a store, I went with the newer stuff (Mars Mission) then the older stuff I was continuing to follow (Exo-Force), and once I'm done with those, maybe I'll start on the good knights. However, it's now something like 2:20 AM and I've just read a few hundred pages on Canadian Media Regulatory Framework. Good knight, all. P. S. All the above aside, I can't pick which one I think will last longer - this is just why I think MM is being perceived better by kids now. All the theory and philosophy above pale before the power children (which I don't think I can count as, anymore) have over the marketplace. -
Not in the least! I pride myself on my flexibility and willingness to compromise. Unless you're flirting, in which case, I'm seeing someone. Salut, xwingyoda! Un parisien - mon pere adore cette ville; il l'appel la plus belle ville du monde, the City of Lights, mais la derniere fois que j'ai prit ma vacance la, c'etait durant mon LEGO Dark Age... :-D My french sucks, but I'm trying for an anglo.

I've been informed that the Golden Tower will end up more limited than the Aero Booster or Mobile Devastator: the price point will not continue into the next wave of sets. If you're on the fence, I'd not pass it up the first time it goes on sale.

Very impressive. I particularly like that the new guns rotate to allow use of the hands. There also appear to be some modifications to the arms as a whole and back, what with those hoses - could we get more pictures?

I'm unsure about EB ettiquette, so here goes my first MOC criticism. The colours are (naturally) a perfect fit for the theme, and are used in good proportion to each other. The model fits well into the theme, and I'd not be surprised to see something like it as an official alternate model. However - I feel that the Mars Mission theme tends more towards aerodynamic shapes, and that the tailfin is too high on the model. Longer and lower, as opposed to higher and thicker. I also feel that the canopy might work better opening from the bottom, that the gems at the rear should be better secured, and that there should be something more than the Canopy for the minifig's feet to bump against. Please LMK if this is helpful, rude, or anything in between.

Based on how far apart the two hinge plates are and how deep the big black curve bricks are, I think the cricle shape is highly unlikely. 7699 is amazing-looking, though. I love the stacking vehicles concept, and it seems a worthy sucessor to the Multi-Core Magnetizer. I hope the wheels are stable and the drill can stow well.

Neat. Time to bricklink up some more robot claws. Can anyone piece out the weapon and backpack?

The following sets are being sorely neglected: the Cosmic Laser Launcher and the Space Supply Station. Recoginzing that it may be off-topic for a Space forum, I'd like to nominate the Hydro Crystalation Station (gosh, that's a stupid name. ) and the Neptune Discovery Lab.

Irony Moose, perhaps - I do not often post in all caps, I just like making an arrogant first impression. This post will be divided into three broad swaths of indroductoriness: Iron Moose qua Iron Moose, Iron Moose qua Lego, and Iron Moose qua Poster. Iron Moose Qua Iron Moose: Why IRON MOOSE anyway? Powerful nonsense. So! Who IS the IRON MOOSE? Iron Moose is a student of Theatre, Communications and Sociology. He enjoys the third person, academic debate, comic books with humour, performance art, and giant robots in general. Where would I find such a magnificent specimen as the IRON MOOSE? Roaming Canada, anywhere between BC and QC. Often (currently) Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal, with spats of Kingston and Napanee, but soon to Saskatoon. When was such a thing created? How long has it been RIGHT UNDER our noses? Give or take twenty-odd years. Iron Moose Qua Lego: How is the IRON MOOSE as a Lego fan? Hurried. I haven't really MOC'd in years. I bought pretty much nothing between, say, Hydronauts and Exo-Force, and am now into Exo-Force, Mars Mission, and Aquaraiders, with occasional dabblings in Creator, Batman, Harry Potter, Star Wars and City. I also like to display sets in intended configurations; I've only recently bought more than one of a set for combining and reMOCing purposes. I like the idea of small scale, even though I haven't built in it outside of the Mini-SW sets. Also, I love 'environment' or 'story' sets. By this I mean most of Batman, and sets like the Graveyard Duel and the Sentai and Dragon Fortresses. Iron Moose qua Poster: What will the IRON MOOSE be like as a poster? Prone to fits of posting and spells of silence! Potentially prolific in the Theatre, Space and Town forums. Abusively alliterative! (I unintentionally hang out in an IRC channel with someone who works in the Connecticut branch/on the website, so I may occasionally have insight into upcoming or current product. Also, coming into Lego from another toy-based Fandom - Transformers - I may have unexpected insights into the manufacturing or commercial processes. I once read a post on colour theory on *some* Lego board that made me shriek at the horrible inaccuracies and assumptions. ) I'm joining in case I have the urge to review something, really.
