Continuing the Astroline Space series I started earlier this year, let me introduce VAREC 01 – a small speeder rebuilt from the John Deere 9620R 4WD Tractor (42136). Like the other VAREC models in the series, this build is minifigure scale, featuring a seat for an astronaut to pilot the vehicle. VAREC 01 includes both flying mode and landing mode. You might also want to check out VAREC 07 and VAREC 02 to see how the Astroline Space series began. I’m also a big fan of pneumatic systems. My first pneumatic set was the 42043 - Mercedes-Benz Arocs, and I’ve owned all the pneumatic sets since. My favorite set recently is the 42157 John Deere Skidder because it’s not very often that we have five large cylinders in a set. I’ve also managed to create an alternate build that utilizes all five cylinders. Details of this alternate build have been posted here.

When Lego introduced the Technic space theme, I thought I would also create my own. So here are the first two models of my Astroline Space Series: VAREC 02 and VAREC 07 (hope that there will be more). The Story The year is 2099. As space exploration thrives, venturing into the cosmos has become commonplace. Nations and even private companies now have their own exploration teams. Among these pioneers are VAREC 02 and VAREC 07, designed and produced by the Vietnam Aerospace Research and Exploration Committee (VAREC). Repurposed from a vintage 2022 John Deere skidder, VAREC 07 is equipped with a powerful front claw, built for collecting and transporting planetary rocks and meteor samples for advanced geological research. Supporting it is VAREC 02, a specialized maintenance robot tasked with repairs and upkeep, ensuring VAREC 07 operates at peak efficiency during every mission. The Features VAREC 07 features: Cabin with a mini figure seat Opening and closing front claw Adjustable wings’ angles Landing gear deployment Open and close front and back engines with pneumatic action VAREC 02 features: Cabin with a mini figure seat Extendable cabin height Cabin rotation Arms control with knob Last but not least, I also design a custom sticker set for the models. I’m quite pleased with the DTF (direct to film) sticker printing technique, which makes the graphics appear as if they were printed directly onto the brick. ----- Thank you for taking the time to view this post ----- These models are an alternative build of the 42157 - John Deere Skidder set. I'm really glad to hear that. I was worried that the images is not descriptive enough. Still working on the video to show the Backhoe Loader in action. I will update it soon :D

Regrettably, I wasn't able to design the rear arm to facilitate easy attachment changes. I haven't tried the bucket but If I had the part, I would also have to redesign the rear arm to work with it.

I first just wanted to have some large tractor tyres so I bought a secondhand 42081 (because this is the cheapest set to get those tyres). However, I'm not so keen on the original ZEUX, I decided to turn it into something that I could like more. So here it come the 42081 C-Model | Backhoe Loader. I hope that you like this!
