  1. Good question. I believe the previous holiday train in 2006 had two offerings: a simplified econo-line version and then one with track, speed regulator and 9v motor. Any rumors on this?
  2. I think you're right. If you look just in front of the cab, you can see the dark gray of the receiver. The lower portion must extend into the cab...hopefully it doesn't mess with the interior too much. The option I'll probably go with is creating a new car that meshes with the look...that what I had to do with my old school train set # 7722.
  3. I'll be using the extra for the PF. Pushing a train around the tracks is only so much fun...having them motorized gets my kids excited. Especially when they crash!
  4. Set looks great! Definitely going to get one or two for the kids and I! And I would assume the instructions would show how to incorporate the PF motor and battery box??
  5. I don't think it's all that bad...especially for not what Lego appears it to be intended for: a moderately priced Christmas train that families can enjoy. Not everyone has the disposable income for a $299 set, and not everyone wants holiday. So I think this fits the bill pretty well. I know I'm "arm-chair quarterback" as much as the next person, but it kind of makes me laugh when people criticize TLG's approach...not like they're a privately-held company that reported $5.4 billion in revenue in the US in 2015. I think they know what they're doing I for one, being a father of a 6 and 3 year old will definitely be buying one for my kids. It'll suit them (and me) just fine.
  6. New member checking in and testing! Trying to get the hang of quotting. Hopefully it worked!
