  1. First time I have used the 'new' VIP system. Should be able to order now- but no option yet...
  2. I still have my "I was one of the first 100 people to see star wars!" (in London, Ontario) pin from 1977. For me it was total magic. I am so angry at Disney for how they dealt with the sequels and the whole idea of focusing on an actual story. Oh well, I guess that's just how the entertainment business works now. All show, no substance. TFA was the first one I took them too. While I was pretty disappointed in how it turned into a second rate tribute film, they liked it OK. But just OK. They thought TLJ was stupid and had no interest at all in even going to the last one (and I am very glad they didn't see it- I wish I could unee it) My dreams of showing them all the originals kind of evaporated. Maybe when they are a bit older I'll try again. But I can understand why lego is focused on the OT- there is really nothing (I think) iconic from the sequels that will survive.
  3. My kids (10 and 12) thought the sequels were 'stupid'. That has impacted their whole idea of star wars. They simply have no interest in those toys, and as a result, no interest in any of the star wars movies. It's pretty sad for me- they just don't feel the magic. For them, I am mostly getting Batman and City sets. So in the 2021 wave, the Gunship is the only possible buy for me.
  4. I'm all in on it! It's a playset yes, but unlike Cloud City or Hoth this one will look excellent on display. I'm thinking about how I can use the other cantina sets I have to build up the surrounding streets. Can't wait.
  5. Its a day one buy for me. Really happy with it. Already thinking about adding the hanger area for a larger display
  6. If it looks anything like this I'll be thrilled. Instant buy. But if it is anything like this.. i'll pass
  7. Expensive, yes. Overpriced? No.
  8. yep- this. Large UCS cantina= instant buy for me.
  9. Ugh that was the least interesting part of season 7. Cardboard characters compared to the complexity in character development in most of the rest of the series. Star Wars meets the A-Team. But whatever. Might lead to some interesting sets.
  10. My money has it's bags packed and is ready to go...
  11. Based on the images you posted so far it's, an automatic purchase of instructions here as well.
  12. Terrasher put a lot of tiles on his model. Looks much much better. On page 2 of this thread: Still too many visible studs for me though. Still debating getting the Monarch or getting this and fully tiling and MODing it.
  13. Same here. Actually seems a bit silly to order it now. Was looking everywhere for a reason, some promo or anything that would make ordering something 6 months ahead of time logical. Nope. May 4th makes way more sense.
  14. move along now.... move along.
  15. This actual looks pretty interesting. You pay for it- but having all the pieces come from a single source at one time, knowing they are all real lego pieces, and knowing the designers are on board- seems like it would be worth it.... Probably the only way I would be able to consider something the size of the Monarch for example. hmmmm
  16. giving this a bump- just cus' it looks really interesting. This and the Venator project from @thire5 are looking super promising.
  17. Surprising choice, and a fantastic build!
  18. Hope the reveal and Bomber instructions will be a joint announcement...
  19. Cockpit design is really pretty poor (you have to take it apart to open it). It's also the wrong shape and wrong size. Even light dusting it caused it to fall apart. Particularly around the cockpit. The stand design was not great, required the set to actually lean on the ground, and that caused some bending. Underside of the wings are not finished and easy to see. There was more, but that was more than enough to make it annoying. And sitting next to the UCS Snowspeeder and Y-Wing it jut looked (to me) like an obviously a second rate effort. The short window of availability for it tells me I was not alone. I think they did a nice job on the main body and the build on that was interesting, but the rest was a let down. I love the ship, but in the end I just couldn't stand the model. Just my opinion of course. I brink linked it (thank goodness) so I didn't pay too much and that made the decision to use it for parts easier.
  20. so far its on the way to being the best Venator MOC anywhere
  21. Well sure, but my feeling is that a huge number of the #gunshipgang voters were much more interested in the potential minifigs than the ship, and are just as likely to start a #boycott campaign if the gunship is selected and comes with only two figures instead of the full 501st battalion with four named characters and a dozen new prints. To be clear I like all the choices and will very likely buy which ever one makes it. But frankly out of the three, the gunship would be my last choice for a USC edition. Lets see what happens. Good luck!
  22. I had the B-Wing but there were so many things that bothered me about it I eventually took it apart. It hasn’t aged well I think. Looked like a poor cousin next to other UCS sets. The more recent system scale set is actually a better looking model to me. That would be a decent set for Lego to give a full redesign.
