EB News Presents: Walrus Keeper
Quarryman replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Because it was done during Mystery Castle 2, in the same setting (Matidoer castle) and the audience consists of characters from that game. -
Please tell us your screen resolution and browser
Quarryman replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Laptop: 1024x768 currently at Firefox 3.5.9 due to having serious issues with running Ubuntu 10.04 on it so it's still at 9.10 Workstation at home: 1920x1200, Firefox 3.5.9 or Firefox 3.6.3 depending on what OS I'm in at the time Workstation at work: 4096x1152 (soon to be 3456x2048), Firefox 3.6.something. As for Chrome or Safari being faster.. maybe. But to actually use the browser as a work tool nothing beats Firefox with the Firebug plugin, makes debugging a lot less painful. -
Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Chat
Quarryman replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Same reason as why all the subtitles for the Days in Infection were quotes from Babylon 5, the host likes it. (besides, Shadows has been playing Portal lately) -
In general LEGO prices are higher than in the rest of Europe, you can normally multiply the euro price with 10 to get the Norwegian price, while a more direct conversion from Euro to NOK would be to multiply by 8. The selection isn't any better than elsewhere, so you may just as well save your money (the thing about prices being higher is a general thing about Norway too, especially alcohol and tobacco are much more expensive than most other European countries)

Some 300 pages into The Neutronium Alchemist by Peter F. Hamilton, part 2 of the Night's Dawn trilogy (which in total is something like 3700 pages long). Good, solid, well imagined sci-fi, I'm enjoying it a lot. Before that I read Iorich by Steven Brust, Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett, and The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks.

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Day 1
Quarryman replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Yes, oh Grand Vizier, during my many travels to faraway lands to sell my sausages I've learned many things, including that potatoes can be fatal (so of course there are no potatoes in my sausages) and that the kicking of pigeons is a cruel habit that one should avoid. (pigeons, however, can be found in my sausages). Also one should be careful with letters one finds detailing people's character, but items of clothing will with certainty indicate whether they are bad or not. -

You kill them and see how they bleed, of course. I thought everyone knew this? -

Prince of Persia Theme Month Game: Rules and Players
Quarryman replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Greetings! I am Namyr Rauq, a wealthy sausage maker. My sausages are infectiously good, one bite and you'll be craving for more. I'm hoping to enter into a partnership with Mustafa there to have him use his famous verbosity and well-designed distribution network to reach even more customers with my sausages. But first we must deal with these silly nizam running around causing trouble for honest people. I thought it was that you are immoral? Surely you've just misunderstood it a bit -

This is great news, I've been eagerly waiting for the MG42 since I first saw the preview of it -
A few of mine.. Etzel doing his 7197 build-in-bag Dennimator army-building Copmike seems to have strayed from the One True Path. Bad Copmike! Entries for the "build a vignette typical of your country" contest, see if you can guess which is which. Jipay's entry for the "build a vignette typical of your country" contest Ras making up some crazy claims about the size of his.. something Difficult position in the minigolf for Christian Exactly what Bonaparte is trying to claim here is anyone's guess.. Superkalle's car when leaving Billund Tired eventees on the ferry home, Copmike and Etzel All my pictures can be found in my gallery. (warning: default viewing size is 1600x1200 )

Thanks to all eventees for another awesome long-weekend, I had an absolutely wonderful time, and look forward to seeing you all again next year (or earlier if possible, we'll see). The at times crappy weather on Friday being the only negative thing, but it did mean there were fewer people in the park, so it wasn't all bad And this was my first visit to Legoland Billund in 22 years, it had changed quite a bit Haven't gotten around to importing and uploading all my pics yet, I'll fix that tomorrow.
-
And slowly but surely we're getting there, currently on the ferry about 35 minutes from Frederikshavn, and then it's maybe 2.5 hours driving to Billund. (the ferry's Internet connection sucks btw )

Ah. Sleep is (as usual) the Solution™ in matters like these, took me less than a minute after waking up to find the Merlin card So, in about an hour I'll head down to the central station to meet up with Freddie and DNL and start the trip for real. See you in Billund everyone!
-
Gah.. it's 02:50 here, I haven't packed and I can't find my Legoland pass from last year's Event. Crap.
-
08:45.. that's earlier than I get up on regular workdays

Imperial Soldier's Mafia: Conclusion
Quarryman replied to Scouty's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks Scouts, if not the end as it should have been, it at least was an ending. It was quite hilarious to be so incredibly blunt and careless about being scum in those last two Days, and I think what really killed you was the fact that you became so obviously angry when I made my ridiculous roleclaim, if you had remained calm and pointed out the flaws in my claims you should have been able to get the loyalists to vote against me. Whether this would have been enough I'm not sure of though, it's possible our coalition already had at least half the votes at the time, haven't checked that yet. That being said; why oh why was Dragonator allowed to live for so long? The Honoured soldiers should have voted him off in a second to test TinyP's claim. Then you could have either voted off TinyP if Draggy had been honoured, or Stash if Draggy was a deserter. Then you could have learned a lot by seeing the reactions to these two/three votes. And in general, please stop being so afraid to vote, it's only hurting yourself. And a mafia game should allow for at least 3-4 failed convictions without the scum winning. I'll probably post more about this later when I'm home from work. -

Being a sucker for dystopian settings I'd love to play this (though I'm not sure it's dystopian enough.. yet ) -
This joke was nothing compared to the girls who "stole" my laptop, two cameras and a radio from our helpdesk here at The Gathering. Got me fooled pretty well, worried sick as there's a lot of code on my laptop that I haven't yet copied elsewhere. But luckily it was just a "gentle" reminder that we shouldn't leave the helpdesk unattended
