Thanks for the help! Errrr.... Why? Chewbacca didn't get a medal, so a ceremony version would just be for giggles. I would rather a character that hasn't gotten a good figure yet like Wedge, Biggs, Ponda Baba, Admiral Piett, Captain Needa, Admiral Ozzel.

It just carried on. After the selling of the first 10000 they immediately started producing the non 30th edition.

So they're there?

Well, I hit up the local Target and LEGO Store (Houston) to no avail. Usually our store has sets out before the shelf date so I'm kind of surprised. I'm going back to check on Wednesday.

What was the last movie you watched?
montgocloud replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I got Jodorowsky's Dune, a documentary centering on the "best film never made," for Christmas. It's endlessly fascinating. If you have any sort of love for movies, science fiction especially, then I wholeheartedly reccomend it. It poses an excellent question: when does something stop becoming an industry and start becoming art? -
We've needed an Imperial Shuttle for a while! I'd much prefer some Imperial Captains and Admirals as opposed to another Han and Leia though. Also, an Imperial Carrier for $130? I wonder how they'll fill that price... Maybe it'll include a couple midi-scale TIE Fighters?

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
montgocloud replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
There are Trans-light blue cheese slopes on the wall, so that does give some credibility to your theory. Ultron could potentially be using Loki's Staff to control Hulk and Scarlet Witch could be attempting to trap him to minimize destruction. But, of course, LEGO would probably include the staff in the set is that was true. And that would kind of be recycling a plot point from the Avengers so, on second thought, probably not. But I still think that Scarlet Witch is trying to approach the situation in a more humane way in trapping Hulk instead of pummeling him into submission with the Hulkbuster. -
So I guess BB-8 will be practical at least some of the time! “And when they were demonstrating how they did this thing [bB-8], live on set — because it’s not CGI, that’s a live prop — I was just amazed. They let me play around with it. I was running it all around at the creature shop up in Pinewood. I’m telling you, it’s an absolute delight. And not having thought that I’d ever go back there, to go back into that world, is just – I get the chills. It’s just so much fun.” -Mark Hamill

Do we know the department of Lucasfilm that Spoiler Man works in? If he's anyone significant, if he knows all of these plot details, then I doubt he'd be in the dark on the main characters' actual names.

It looks like the crossblades aren't actually attached to the Lightsaber, he just used another 4L blade and a bit of clever perspective camerawork. The scenery looks great! The 1 x 2 white tiles are simple and effective for capturing the snowy landscape.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/other/news/?a=112287 So we have our names. Finn, Rey, Kylo Ren, Poe Dameron, and BB-8. What does this mean? Well, for one, it means that 'Spoiler Man' has lost a lot of credibility. None of these names match up with the ones he gave us, so I doubt any of the information he spouted is true. It seems that it was all conjecture based on previously leaked concept art and rumors. Also, this could confirm the rumor that in The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren (most likely Adam Driver's character) will give into the Dark Side and become a Sith Lord, constructing the rudimentary "junk" Lightsaber that we see in the trailer. Basically, he won't start the film as a Sith Lord. If he did, I doubt they'd give him a standard name like 'Kylo Ren;' I imagine it would be 'Darth So-and-So.' But then again, if Kylo Ren does have a hidden, mysterious darkness to him, wouldn't they want to treat that as a reveal? Now onto the names. They're fine I guess. I bet I'll be more on board once I hear them in context. I'm not sure I like the name Poe. And to be honest, I liked Rey's rumored name, 'Kira,' a lot better. But then again, we can't have a Kira and a Kylo. That would be pretty stupid.

Now that's a great fig. The eyes are clearly visible behind the red visor too! Correct helmet proportions, it's a miracle. Also, I can now see the crack between the torso armor and the helmet. It's definitely two separate parts.
-
Judging that there's no dust trail behind it, I would also venture to guess that it's all CGI as well. Hopefully this won't be the case all the time, maybe they'll use a practical version for less difficult shots.

New UCS Falcon? My response can best be compared to the iconic Trolls 2 "OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!" Hopefully this comes to fruition. I don't like bein' disappointed. Not one bit.

The midseason finale was pretty disappointing. The previous cliffhanger indicated that it would include more of Ezra's backstory, but nope; it seems the writers are stringing us along. What's worse is that some of it is told to certain characters and we don't get to hear it. So the cliffhanger was never really resolved, even though there was a chance to do so... The episode was fun and all but I'm not sure it had enough substance, certainly not as much as the previous episode.

I'd like to see an actual set based off of the Imperial Troop Transport, not just a little battle pack. Imperial Troop Transport ($40): Includes an opening cockpit, a small hallway (4 studs wide) for troops down the center of the vehicle that leads to the back with a hinged back door. The six open cells should have the function to open simultaneously on each side. Minifigures: Ezra Bridger, Morad Sumar, Imperial Pilot, Imperial Officer, Stormtrooper I think in addition to this, a Theed Palace playset would be be great to go along with the recent Episode I resurgence. Theed Palace ($120-160): Includes a facade for the palace with a couple exterior walkways and the iconic green dome. On the bottom level, there is a very small hanger bay, the power generator (purple beam could function as a support for the top floor), and the circular room with a 4x4 shaft in the center. These three areas would lead into one another to simulate the lightsaber fight. The top floor is the throne room. There is an open window with a rope leading down to the bottom of the palace. The chair in the throne room opens to reveal a blaster. Minifigures: Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme (maroon outfit with ponytail), Captain Panaka, Darth Maul, Nute Gunray, Battle Droid (x3), Command Droid, Destroyer Droid.

Yeah, it is pretty low. Which is pretty ironic, seeing that the head was too high (IMO) on the Malgus figure and the armor is relatively similar to the Inquisitor's. It seems I'll never be happy.

I mean the MF was pretty much recycled, apart from the new radar dish rectangle (is that the right term? What are we calling it now?). But other than that, I totally agree. The X-Wings are different if you look closely. The nose is stubbier and the wings divide at the center of the cylinder instead of having four separate cylinders like the classic X-Wings.

I think it's pretty unanimous that the AT-ST included in the Battle of Endor set is the best. With a couple of very simple mods, the cockpit can fit two and the gear arrangement on the "walking" feature can be turned into a head-turning feature (or the gears can be taken out completely).

I think I'll get the Sandcrawler. I don't think I can pass it up, it's just such a beautiful model... Thanks to everyone who gave opinions! It was a tough decision.

I'll admit the Death Star fight was a little clunky, but it's far better than the duel on Naboo. What was the emotion behind that battle? Anything? The lightsaber fights are outward expressions of the characters' emotions in the OT. There is no emotion in the Naboo duel, even after Qui-Gon dies. There's a moment in Return of the Jedi when Luke just starts wailing on Vader. His emotion is in the choreography (or lack thereof). In The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon dies, Obi-Wan screams "NO!" and then goes back to over-choreographed nonsense. There's no anger, or hate or anything. I get bored. I'm not invested. While the Mustafar duel in Revenge of the Sith did have a little more going on under the surface, the battle goes on for so long that it eventually gets lost. Lucas has no sense of restraint. The emotions aren't powerful enough to warrant the length of the fight so... I get bored. I'm just watching animated characters that someone rendered on their computer screen. It's pretty ironic that a duel between the same two characters years later is much more interesting. Each time someone faces Vader in the OT there's something new going on in the characters' heads. In Episode IV, Obi-Wan is confronting his twisted apprentice. He has lost all respect for him over the decades of solitude but he still misses their years they spent together as friends. In Episode V, Luke faces Vader as the man who killed his mentor. The scenes on Dagobah also inform the duel. He isn't quite sure what the illusion in the cave meant, but it effects the fight: it adds a layer of confusion. There is also his fears of losing his friends to Vader. All of these things combined cause the audience to sense how weak Luke really is. It's apparent that Vader is just toying with him. Episode VI is the culmination of everything previously set up in the trilogy. Luke is fighting his father. He is wrestling between the decision to either attempt to convert Vader to the light side or kill him. He pities Vader. He wants to save him, but Obi-Wan told him earlier in the film that the only way to destroy the Empire is to kill Vader. But, by killing him, Luke realizes that he may become his father, as foreshadowed in the Episode V vision in the cave in Episode V. I'm going to contrast these three fights with the most interesting one in the prequels, the Mustafar duel. So I'll admit that it gets the emotions right... for half of the characters. Obi-Wan not only has to not only deal with the loss of his friend (even though we never actually see them as friends, but that's a completely different point), he also feels that he failed his master Qui-Gon. It would help if we actually saw Obi-Wan talk to Qui-Gon's force ghost after the battle so those ideas could be explored, however, I'll give Lucas some praise here: Obi-Wan's emotions are powerful and they're displayed in the dialogue and (somewhat) in the choreography. But Anakin... Oh, Anakin. Lucas dropped the ball with him. So all during the prequels, his dark side stems from his desires to control. We see it from the beginning: "I don't want things to change" (Episode I). In Episode III, he turns to the dark side as a result of the want to save his wife from certain death, in other words, to control her fate. Why doesn't this also pay off in his emotions during the duel with Obi-Wan? He fights Obi-Wan because "oh, he's a bad guy now. He has to fight the good guy." Really? In IV, V, and VI, it makes sense that Vader's emotions would be subdued; he has been the puppet of the Emperor for decades. But here? Anakin's dark motivator should play a huge role in the downfall of his friendship with Obi-Wan. His need for control is completely unrelated to the battle. This post turned into quite a beast. Sorry for that, I'm just very passionate about the brilliance of the OT.

Which would ya'll recommend more, the Sandcrawler, the Tower of Orthanc, or the Tumbler? I have the 2005 Sandrawler, but I'm a huge OT fan so I'm considering the new version. Is it worth it? My interest in the Tower of Orthanc is pretty small actually, but I like the LOTR movies and the model itself looks beautiful. The Tumbler looks great also. I'm kind of torn between it and the Sandcrawler.

[MOC] The GHOST from Star Wars: Rebels
montgocloud replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I never expected that you'd actually say yes to that question! Wow. Thanks in advance, this MOC is wonderful and I'd love to build it for myself. -
To quote a Reddit comment, If we're going to base our theories on MVS's Swedish nationality, then "Shmi Skywalker confirmed."

Hopefully this cumbersome and dangerous hilt leads to some OT style Lightsaber fights: slow, simple, and calculating (and emotionally driven please). Also, on a completely different point, has anyone noticed that the TIE Advanced Prototype from Rebels takes inspiration from the wings of Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator? It's a nice nod.
