Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
montgocloud replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Just bringing an idea up-DC is swapping out most if not all of their animated lineup which could be a reason why we haven't seen any animated based sets yet. Seeing as there is no movie material for next year's DC sets, there is possibility of Teen Titans Go and Beware the Batman lines. One real seller for me on Beware the Batman is the possibility of an updated Alfred figure-he appears to be integral to the action in that series. -

Judging by instruction steps 25-29, it does not appear to actually turn. I could be and would love to be wrong though (even if it would take little effort to mod). -
This set impresses me more than both the Sail Barge and the Gunship... Great... Another must-get flagship set. Expensive year!

Official Lego Club - IRON MAN "Tony Stark's Laboratory" In

When I first heard about this I had hoped it would be an alternate build of some combined Iron Man 3 sets. But it looks like it's necessary to buy multiple Malibu Mansion sets and Bricklink 90% of the parts to build this. It does look fantastic though-a minor gripe is that the center circular platform isn't on a turntable. -
Not to be an annoyance, but could this review be indexed? I would hate for it to be lost from existence (like some of my liscensed reviews).

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

I would not like that personally. Not all movie theaters would carry the figure and it would be a hassle to research and then, once you get there, it might not be in stock anymore. -
That would be fantastic. Lego's recent Hobbit line proved that they do not have a huge aversions to bars. I doubt they would include a hanger for a non-included set though.

I love the boxes as well. I'd say that everything started to go downhill post 2004, but the 99-01 boxes are by far my favorite. Classic LEGO Star Wars there. You have to remember what time this was made in. Of course these days it looks horrible, but (again comparing it to video games) that's like saying the Legend of Zelda is bad because of its 8 bit graphics. I'll be back soon with a review of the one and only Cloud City!

I commend LEGO for creating the Slave I so soon in their license-it was a huge risk. While highly identifiable by adults, I'm not sure that Boba Fett was widely known by kids in 2000. I'm guessing they released a small set just in case it didn't do too well. Thanks! The only other incarnation of the set I have was the one released in 2011, and that one was broken down for parts unfortunately. I should have done a comparison photo with the minifigures though. Next review, I suppose. I feel the same way. New Boba's helmet is a work of art, and the printing may be much more accurate, but the old Boba still has its rightfully earned place. Also, could a mod please add a poll to the topic? That would be fantastic.

As soon as I received this set as a gift back in 2000 when it was first released, I fell in love. Now, 13 years later, does it still hold up? Let's take a look: 7144 Slave I Pieces: 166 Minifigs: 1 Price: $20 Year of Release: 2000 Description: PART ONE: Parts and Introduction Here are the contents of the set. A lot of green, black, gray, and brown, with an assortment of blue, trans-orange, red, yellow, tan, trans-black, and white. The unusual pieces are pictured here. Only one of each type is pictured, so note that multiple may actually be included in the set. The windscreens and slopes are particuraly useful for MOCS. PART TWO: The Instruction Book Onto the instruction book. A few nice little details that weren't replicated in sets post 2001. First, names under minifig pictures. Second, the movie scenes in the top of each page in the manual. I love this detail-it gets you in the appropriate mood to build the set. Finally, a very miniscule thing here, but there is a bounty hunter insignia behind the step numbers. PART THREE: Minifigures To the minifigs! One of the main selling points of the set was the inclusion of Boba Fett and Carbonite Han. They are both spectacular: detailed yet still keeping the feel of classic LEGO. Here's an Episode V reference for Boba. The basic feel has been masterfully captured (even though the recent variations have been much more screen-accurate). PART FOUR: The Build The build is simple, nonrepetitive, and takes about 15-20 minutes. I'll be showing the progress of the build in five step intervals. Step 5: Step 10: Step 15: Step 20: Step 25: Step 28 brings us near the conclusion, with the sub-assembly of the front wedge complete: And we're done! Obviously this version isn't as detailed or screen accurate as later LEGO incarnations, but it still captures the essence of the ship. PART FIVE: Features The features of the set are fairly simple. I'll be starting with the storage compartment. As you can see, Han does not immediately slide out once the compartment opens. You have to sort of fish him out with your finger, a grueling process that will cause you to harbor depressive feelings for years to come. The next stop on this wonderous journey of wonders is the cockpit, beautifully decorated with printed tiles: The last feature is the most iconic of the ship, the rotating wings. Here we'll start in landing position: And now, by merely picking the ship up, they rotate! It's controlled solely by gravity, and unlike later incarnations, Boba's seat isn't connected to the mechanism. Looks like he'll just have to deal with the extra blood in his head. Maybe that's why he tried to fly over the Sarlacc with his jetpack. Overall, it works pretty well with the only downside to this feature being that if it is tilted even a little past the verticle position, the wings will look a bit wonky. PART SIX: Final Verdict MINIFIGS-10/10 The figures are classic. These figures were used relatively unchanged for 11 years, a testament to how iconic they are. PARTS-9/10 The parts selection here is great-a lot of uncommon/exclusive pieces. The only gripe I have is the top section of the back of the ship. Why was it necessary for it to be black while the rest of the rear is grey? DESIGN-8/10 The design here is great for the $20 price. The wings bother me and it feels like that it could have been fixed with a piece connected to the Technic axle. FEATURES-10/10 All of the features that were present in the movie have been represented here. Not much more I could ask for. SWOOSHABILITY-8/10 It's fun to swoosh around, but it looks odd when the ship takes a nose dive because of the wings. FINAL VERDICT-45/50 or... 9/10! A classic that is a great add to any LEGO Star Wars collection! But that could just be my nostalgia goggles talking... goggles can't talk though. PART SEVEN: Conclusion? This review is over, and the Slave I soars off into the whiteness of pillow sheet and/or wall. But what's that in the foreground...? Is that an upcoming review...?

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
montgocloud replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I just find that the sets 10-30$ have over-simplified builds and that is my main problem I guess. There are exceptions, but the Man of Steel sets don't appear to be part of them. I could be wrong, I mean I don't have them yet. -
I'm exactly the same way. It had a lot of cool features and a HUGE troop bay. I'm disappointed that I missed out on it.
-
Am I the only one that thinks that the Republic Gunship is lacking in features? The 2002 version had an opening engine and an opening command center, and ball turrets. The 2008 Clone Wars model had a smaller command center (but it was still there), a bacta tank, spy droids, a bigger landing bay, a speeder bike, and storage in the back above the rear turret. 75021 seems to only contain a removable turret section, ball turrets, a slightly bigger landing bay than the 2002 version, a smaller speeder bike, and storage in the back like the 2008 model. A lot of feature space seems to be wasted with the carrying handle. That said, I'll still buy it.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
montgocloud replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
It appears that way. Overall this is quite a disappointing turn out compared to last year's sets. I'm not sure why the builds are so atrocious this year. Personally, I think the main problem is the lack of flagship sets. Instead of doing the "Black Zero Escape" set, it would have been much cooler to see a 80-100$ Black Zero model! Iron Man 3 would have benefited with a more expensive Malibu Mansion (even though the one that we got is great for the price). I hope this problem is fixed for next year's waves of sets. -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

I think this has to do with the kind of license that LEGO has. They aren't allowed to produce "action figure" type products, just construction sets. I could be wrong though. -
REVIEW: 6863 Batwing Battle Over Gotham City
montgocloud replied to montgocloud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes GingerWookie, I do know they are part of the DC Universe And just out of curiosity, in the '06 Batman line, one of Batman's weapons was a Batarang with some sort of hole in the middle. Anybody know what that is? I have been confused for five years. -

Oky, the only gear that Batman comes with is one Batarang. Kind of dissapointing. And thanks for front paging this! Is there any way I could add a poll to the topic? -
REVIEW: 6863 Batwing Battle Over Gotham City
montgocloud replied to montgocloud's topic in LEGO Licensed
The MSRP is actually $34.99. And marcosbessa... You created this set? I may not have shown it really well in the review, but I actually LOVE the Batwing! The fact that it is so compact but yet so full of features amazes me. It is a great set! -
At first I really was disliking these sets. But it seems that every time I look at them now, they keep growing on me! The only one that I am disappointed of is the Batcave. No Alfred, bizarre vehicle for Bane, but it looks like I'll have to get it because of the villains themselves. They are wonderful I'm wondering how the Marvel sets will turn out though... I love Captain America but LEGO's version of him at Comic-Con was... disturbing.

Hello and welcome to my review of the Lego Superheroes set: Batwing Battle Over Gotham City. Let's dive right in. Number-6863 Name-Batwing Battle Over Gotham City Theme-LEGO DC Universe Superheroes Year-Late 2011/Early 2012 Minifigs-3 Pieces-278 Price-$34.99 USD Part 1: THE BOX The box art looks nice, with a cartoon Batman in action at the top right. Nothing to complain about here. Back of the box. Standard design for all of the DC Superheroes line. Artwork of LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes. Personally, I'm fairly excited for this game. PART 2: THE CONTENTS This set came with three numbered bags, one containing the Batwing p1, the second containing the Batwing p2, and the third containing the Joker's helicopter. Since I am doing this review post-build, I do not have them pictured. The instruction booklet. Exact same art as on the box. It is 68 pages of actual instruction, and has several adds for the new LEGO City line of sets, and the buildable Superheroes. The "comic" that comes with the Superheroes sets... if you can call them that. While the artwork is nice, some parts of the story would be greatly improved with dialogue. PART 3: THE MINIFIGURES Here we are with Batman. His torso is very similar to his last LEGO incarnation, as well as the mold for his cowl. The back printing on his torso as well as the alternate expression on his head. While I like this, LEGO has one more step to go to make this minifigure perfect. On the alternate expression, REMOVE THE WHITE STRIP. This could be a Bruce Wayne head, and if they really wanted to, they could include optional hair! Ah, the Joker. Owning both of these, I'm not sure which I like best! They both have their ups, and their downs. While everything is perfect with this version, I would sure like to have a return of the old gun with the BANG! sticker on it. That really suited the character. Instead, we just attach a red flag to a standard tommy gun. The Joker's alternate expression. This is great and everything, but with this expression part of the Joker's lips are uncovered by the hair on the back of the head. Back printing on the Joker's suit. DEFINITELY a highlight of the set. The new Joker henchman is... beautiful. Wait until you see the back printing... BAM! This figure is a must buy for any LEGO Batman fan. A perfect minifigure. One gripe on the gear is that he could use a pistol of some sort. PART 3: THE VEHICLES The Batwing. While the review on FBTB complained about this vehicle, I don't think it's that bad. Compared to the '06 one, yes it is lacking. But, as a stand alone model, it is good! (That could just be me being optimistic) Batman at the controls. There are no studs holding him down, just a tile. The canopy actually holds him down, which I thought I would hate but it does make for easy access to Batman. A blurry picture of the main feature of this model. You can raise the back portion of the wings and flick-fire missles are revealed. When displayed like this, it is totally badass. The Batbomb play feature. Basically, you open the back hatch to reveal a little knob that you can push down to release the Batbomb. Would have much preferred a cape/batarang storage compartment, but oh well. That is what modding is for. Ah, the Joker's helicopter. A true spectacle. The cockpit is great, with ample room for the driver. A true MARVEL! Get it? That's funny right...? Four missles are featured on this aircraft, and they are covered by these nice purple panels with the Joker's gleaming face on them. A smiling bomb. Just for decoration, right? Well let's take a look... When you push this button, the bomb shoots forward! This feature is spot on and works like a charm. PART 4: CONCLUSION Well should you get this set? At normal LEGO price, absolutely. But at the $10 TRU mark up? It is your decision. DESIGN-8/10 The design of the Batwing could have been... larger but it is still a good design. The Joker's helicopter is really where it shines though. PARTS-9/10 Great parts, a lot of rare purple items and a couple rare curves on the Batwing. MINIFIGURES-10/10 Perfect. Batman, the Joker, and a henchman. Not much more you could ask for, really. BUILD-10/10 Not getting redundant and the build is long enough for the price. One great thing is that they outlined the black pieces in white in the instruction booklet for easy black/dark bley color differentiation. PLAYABILITY/SWOOSHABILITY-10/10 I love swooshing around the Batwing and the Joker's helicopter. Loads of fun! FINAL VERDICT-87/100 Get this set if there is no mark up. A must buy!

Actully I decided not to include my entry. Thanks. -
Quick Question: I was thinking of buying a large LEGO set for myself tommorrow as I have a little over 100$ lying around. I was wondering if the Podracer set was available yet. If not, I may get the two medium sized Pirates of the Carribean sets since I really loved the Whitecap Bay set.

No, you are not hallucinating. Those are actully small dinasour statues. I am trying to hunt down pieces for a Batboat or Batcopter. I really want to extend this MOC and make it my own.
