  1. Hers a few more pictures, to be honest the shots look like the ones on the box as thats it, there's just not much else to it Cockpit has been forgotten I think, nothing in there, just a control stick, the claw it pretty well articulated and works really well. I'll get some of them all together tomorrow if I get chance. There are pictures of the other sets on my flickr stream
  2. Name: 7065 Alien Mothership Theme: Alien Conquest Year: 2011 Pieces: 416 Minifigures: 2 + 1 "Alien pet" Price: £49.99 Alien Conquest is the first Lego theme that I've bought all the sets from since the initial star wars line, I had a slight passing interest when I saw the early pictures that began floating around on brickshelf which soon developed into a serious urge to get them all once I'd seen the finished designs, rather looking forward to the second wave in 2012 if it takes that long Description (from lego.wikia) Alien Mothership The Alien Mothership has landed! Breaking News! The Alien Mothership has appeared in the city skyline, right before the eyes of the intrepid reporter. As the massive UFO spins above his head with eerie alien noises, the reporter watches in horror as the abducting claw heads his way. Help the reporter avoid capture and live to tell his tale on the nightly news! his? Review The mothership saucer is very similar to the Alien Abduction saucer but it is surrounded by eight train track pieces connected to a large technic swivel allowing the centre saucer to be held via the handle and the outer "track" section to be spun around, this activates the sound brick giving a pleasing alien sound Built is pretty quick and apart from the repetitive assembly of the outer track section its very simple. Considering its pretty large size and general saucer-ishness, the mothership is remarkably swooshable too Box Minifigures The Alien Commander while similar the the pirate from the HQ set has a tentacle base instead of the peg leg arrangement and has two arms, head is the same set up but with a different paint scheme, the reporter is looking remarkably female considering the sets description on the Lego website, she has a nice clip board and comes with two microphones and has a double sided head. Saucer Claw Ratings: Minifigs: 9/10 Minifigs are again great, the reporter is a really good new minifigure and the Alien Commander is superb, would have been nice to get another figure but not sure what or who. Parts: 9/10 Some interesting parts, eight train track curves, lots of green transparent pieces, another 8x8 clear dome and the sound brick, so while the ship might have a lot of clear air in it, its also got some good parts too. Design: 8/10 The main body of the Mothership is very similar to the Abduction set minus its grille and abduction light, the addition of the spinning outer ring and sound brick really work well and make the set far better than I was expecting. Playability: 6/10 Once you've spun the ship around via its handle and made the sound a couple of times its worked all its magic, nice looking ship but not brimming with play features. Price: 7/10 At just under £50 this set is bordering on being over priced but I think the size of the finished set and the Overall: 39/50 A nice looking surprisingly swooshable set. Hi-res pics and a video of the sound can be found here Alien Conquest: Best new theme ever! Alien get together. (from all sets) And the people of earth.
  3. Couldn't resist! Went back to toys r us and picked up the mother ship 7065 the jet copter looked lonely so I got that too, leaving 7050 being the only Alien Conquest set I didn't have, so I got that too Alien Conquest super review incoming once I get them built
  4. Alien Conquest is showing on the UK S@H site now too, but no sets just an empty page, they must be updating it right now Ohh I might have a super buy later on getting all the ones I haven't got
  5. Wasn't convinced with the mother ship but I'm starting to come round to it it may arrive here at some point.
  6. I think its new, at least in clear anyway.
  7. The set is identical here in the UK but the box has some minor differences, names and so on. Love the little "we've been to earth" sticker on the tripod
  8. Love the idea of adding a cow, I need to get one This is the best new theme sine Lego introduced Star Wars, I've not bought so much of a single theme since I was young enough to play with Lego without getting raised eyebrows, I bought 7049 and 7051 this afternoon, I love these
  9. Brilliant, I love the classic space print
  10. Superb, it looks ace and it's on my must buy list I'll have a look this afternoon for one Thanks sinjid after reading your review I picked this up this afternoon, looking forward to building this later on while watching close encounters
  11. Sorry to have caused such offence, I still have no idea who he is.
  12. Name: 7052 UFO Abduction Theme: Alien Conquest Year: 2011 Pieces: 211 Minifigures: 3 Price: £25.99 When I picked up my first Alien Conquest set I was torn as to whether I should also get this set, in the end I didn't bother and just got the HQ, luckily for me fate conspired to bring me back to toys are us here is the review. (light was against me, so the photos aren't as well lit as the last ones) Description UFO Abduction The Alien Defence Unit soldier is preparing the city defences. But wait! An alien UFO is trying to abduct the farmer with its tractor beam and grabbing abduction function! Launch the flick missile before it’s too late and send the galactic human snatcher spinning home! Review Box front and back Minifigures The set comes with three minifigures, exactly the same moustached double sided head ADU trooper from the Earth Defence HQ set, a different alien and a really cool single sided head farmer. Building its just a single instruction booklet with this set, nothing too difficult and its built pretty quickly without and fiddly bits at all, rather odd placement of three green "Plate 1X2 W. 1 Knob" (as Lego describe them) in the cockpit could indicate something else was to be included in the set but was removed maybe?, nothing is shown on them on the box or in the instructions so it will remain a mystery The light is activated by pressing the green ball forward at the back of the cockpit as you can see in the pics. Underside of the UFO showing the rubber claw pieces, the light grey ends are rubber going to regular plastic as it goes dark grey. "abduction effect" is more impressive in the dark Ratings: Minifigs: 9/10 Minifigs are great, the farmer is the pick for me, he looks fantastic. the alien is good too, with different printing and a different head to the ones in the HQ set. the ADU trooper though is a direct copy of the HQ trooper, must have requested a transfer Parts: 8/10 Not a great pile of parts but some nice pieces all the same, including a light brick giving the "abduction effect" a really nice clear dome on the saucer and some nice rubbery fangs on the under side of the saucer, for picking up unsuspecting abductees. Design: 8/10 Its a classic saucer in the style of the 1950s B movies, the grille on the front is a little confusing though its a little too high in the sides for my liking but if it wasn't there'd be no room for the abductees, so its the price you pay, there is a nice "Area 51" sign on the front of the saucers stickers. Playability: 7/10 The playability is pretty good, although its not very swooshable but the "abduction effect" is pretty cool so it makes up for that. Price: 7/10 If the HQ seemed steep this one is a little steeper regards size Vs price, but it does have a light up brick (technological costs?) or maybe theres a worldwide plastic shortage going on Overall: 39/50 Nice but no classic. Hi Res pics are here
  13. The jet copter does look superb I love the alien ships too
  14. My extra trip due to the fruit based computer company let me return to the TRU today, still had plenty of the sets in, so I picked up 7052 UFO Abduction and a 7915 V-wing, well it is May the Fourth I'll do a review of 7052 once I've built it
  15. Having to make another trip back up to the apple store tomorrow, 7052 UFO Abduction will be mine I'd complain about the fuel costs running backwardS and forwards but it's the Lego costs that are killing me
  16. They have nothing I want, gutted that I bought the At-At last week and not its cheaper too :(
  17. Here is the joining part between the two sections, the ball joint is on a sliding beam that snaps into position with the red clips when fully closed or extended. Here are a a few pics showing the stickers, the only printed pieces are the figures, computer screens and the control panel in the jet and HQ (both the same) seen in the pictures.
  18. Yeah the torsos were mixed up, I would't care but I made sure they were right when I was building so what happened there! Fixed (I think)
  19. Here are some Hi Res images of the above.
  20. Here are a few close ups of the Commander
  21. I was just about to write that the heads are all single sided when I decided to have a quick check, doh both of the ADU troopers have double sided heads, scientist is single though, here are a couple of pics showing them and a better view of the guns. The alien commander head is in three parts, trans green brain over a trans green regular head all on top of his light green face/base The flick firing missiles fire by pressing the light grey "post box" part at the back of each side, so four will fire in one go.
  22. Following (read copied format from) on from the last couple of reviews posted here, this is my review of the Earth Defence HQ Name: 7066 Earth Defence HQ Theme: Alien Conquest Year: 2011 Pieces: 874 Minifigures: 5 + 1 Head monster Price: £76.99 I had an early start today going up to the Metro Centre at Gateshead to exchange an iPad and while there I decided to have a look in the Toys R Us store, be rude not too really at first I spotted some of the new City sets but non of the Alien Conquest, gutted never mind, then a TRU guy asked what it was I was looking for, and directed me to the front of the store and said that the Alien conquest sets had arrived about a week ago but they had to take them off sale as a kid had tried to buy some but the checkout had flagged them not to be sold yet! Luckily for me that wasn't a problem today, and I think they had all of the sets available in stock, I almost bought the 7052 UFO Abduction too but settled on just the one having already bought the 8129 AT-AT this week. Description (from lego.wikia) Earth Defence HQ The Earth Defence HQ is the main feature of the set. It is a large vehicle that has ten wheels. The front of the truck has a cockpit with an easily removable glass, with two guns underneath. On top of the cockpit are two smaller mounted weapons for close-range defense. The roof of the first vehicle is dominated by a large, rotating pair of quad missle launchers. It has enough room for a minifigure to sit on it. The tow-behind trailer carries a small, single-person fighter mounted on a multi-directional jet launcher. Fighter Jet: The fighter jet can land on the back of the Earth Defense HQ. It has two wings on the front, and two "wings" on the sides with guns on them. Maintenance Truck: The maintenance truck features an alien prison canister on a universal turning system on the back. Alien Saucer: A minifigure can sit inside of the cockpit of the alien saucer. Review Box front and back Minifigures The set comes with five minifigures and an alien head creature, two ADU troops 1 male with a heavy duty "I'm gettin' too old for this" style 'tache and a feisty looking female officer, one ADU Inspector who's very scientific looking, one Alien grunt and an Alien commander. Vehicles Interior Jet + Saucer Red and green transparent bricks inside the cockpit of the jet are just added in as they were spare bricks. Building Instructions come in the form of two booklets, you start with the minifigures (is there any other way ) then on to the vehicles in the order of: maintenance truck, alien saucer, alien prison canister, fighter jet, front section of the HQ then rear section. Nothing tricky, a nice easy afternoons building. Ratings: Minifigs: 10/10 Minifigs are great, the alien commander having the peg leg makes sitting him in a vehicle a bit hard but thats the price you pay for getting bits blown off you I suppose , the lack of back printing on the aliens is a tiny disappointment on an otherwise superb couple of figures. ADU figures are great too, all of witch using unique printing in this set, the two troopers looking very much like Halo "Orbital Drop Shock Troopers" Parts: 9/10 The parts that this set comprises of are good (if you like blue) I really liked the lap top (new to me) both the alien and ADU guns are great. Quite a few stickers but thankfully, none that cover any brick joints (my pet hate) and they seem to be much stickier than the ones that came with the sets from last year, some of which peeled off (my 7213 - Off-Road Fire Truck & Fireboat being one such set lacking in stickiness) The main windscreen of the HQ is brilliant, and the smoked grey/brown colour, very nice. Design: 10/10 As soon as I saw the blue multi wheeled vehicle on brickshelf I loved it, at first I thought it was someones own creation but having seen it was an actual set I had to have it! its pretty much what I've always built/tried to build only not stuffed suspension, steering, lights and magnets (maybe later ) in fact I'd love a white one for Hoth exploration. Its brilliant, the addition of the jet and the saucer really make it a superb set, finished off with great minifigures. The Jet launcher, is operated by a slotted wheel on the back to aim it into the air, no actual launching mechanism though, the missile pods have four flick fired missiles, both missile and jet launchers are mounted on turn tables so they can be fired off in multiple directions, depending on mission parameters If I were being picky I'd have liked to have seen the spot lights be turntable mounted and a hinge underneath the roof mounted missile launchers, but they are very easy to retro fit, and thats probably why Lego left them out, to encourage kids imagination Playability: 10/10 The playability is great, I'd say children will love this set, it ticks all the boxes, has goodies and baddies, flying vehicles and a big base/mobile head quarters, I could play with it for hours myself (if I still played with lego that is ) Price: 8/10 I think those over inflated Star Wars/movie tie-in licensed sets have had an effect on the pricing of the non licensed sets now, having said that it is pretty big and pretty awesome so maybe its about right, but I'd still have liked it a bit cheaper. Overall: 47/50 Superb set, very highly recommended. Hope you enjoyed, its my first review
  23. I'll have a go, already finished it so it won't be the in depth versions that I've seen here
  24. I had to go up to the Metro Centre today to get a replacement iPad and while I was there I decided to have a look in ToysR Us just incase they had any alien Conquest in ahead of the UK release of 10th May, wow, all of them Picked up a 7066 Earth Defence HQ, thats my afternoon taken care of
  25. I'm really looking forward to this series, they are due for release on my birthday so I hope I can get an order in a bit earlier for the 7066 Earth Defence HQ so I can get it close to the day :)
