  1. I dont get it either - although I find that the fake leakers rarely seem to be very convincing (with perhaps one major exception last year). I'm curious to see whether anyone here could do better, here's my attempt at 'fake' set names: 1. Lego 76386, $19.99, 217 pieces = 9.2ppp - Slytherin's Locket (camping scene with small pool and sword for destroying the locket) 2. Lego 76387, $39.99, 397 pieces = 10ppp - Ministry of Magic Infiltration 3. Lego 76388, $79.99, 851 pieces = 9.4ppp - Hogwarts Castle: Courtyard Battle 4. Lego 76389, $129.99, 1176 pieces = 11.05ppp - The Black Lake Triwizard Tournament 5. Lego TBD, $39.99, 274 pieces = 14.6ppp - Advent Calendar I'm sure others can do an even more convincing selection!
  2. Totally agree with you, it's more that I find it a shame that we have 3 Fleurs and 5 Cedrics before we have a single Rita Skeeter, Karkaroff or Barty Crouch Snr - and that's just the obvious omissions from GoF. Also agree that a ship and underwater scene would add diversity, and tbh if they rolled it all into one set maybe we could get some of those omissions. Nonetheless I'd prefer something completely new, e.g. the ministry of magic from DH1 with Yaxley, Pius Thicknesse, polyjuice trio, Umbridge with locket, ministry Percy (I know not in films) etc. However, I believe we are in very safe hands with LEGO on this theme, they are slowly filling in the gaps and I'm sure they're just as aware of the current omissions as we are.
  3. Not sure how much I want more GoF sets, think it's been pretty well covered compared to the other books/films. I can however see LEGO doing a Durmstrang ship at the 129USD pricepoint as they love old ships. My only hope would be that they don't give us yet more iterations of triwizard champions, personally really didn't like getting the three other champions in the Horntail set as they don't face the Horntail or have a speaking role or even appear on screen doing the task. Would have been much happier to get Harry, Rita Skeeter and Barty Crouch. Durmstrang ship would give us a new Karkaroff which would be nice as not too fond of the old one I have. I'd take a new merperson too but don't think a beneath-the-surface build would display well alongside everything else. I'd personally much prefer to get some OotP onward scenes: Ministry Atrium, Department of mysteries, Grimmauld Place, Inferi cave, Godric's Hollow, Malfoy Manor etc. It's a huge wave though this year so I'm sure we'll all be happy. Good point, I think fluffy could be a good explanation for the high price to piece ratio in the 129USD set.
  4. Anyone built the Hogwarts moments sets yet? Would be nice to hear some thoughts as I think I'll probably end up buying either just the figures or all 4 books! As for longevity of the theme, I think 2/3 more years would be ideal. If we could get a Hogsmeade D2C, Gringotts, Rita Skeeter, Percy Weasley, Madam Pomfrey then I'll be completely satisfied. EDIT: Actually I'd really like a Leaky Cauldron too...
  5. I hope so! And I have faith in the team that work on Harry Potter, I've just much preferred the Harry Potter level of quality on fewer sets than say Star Wars where it feels like there are too many sets and some really aren't great.
  6. Excited and a bit worried about next year's list. Personally I'd be happier if they kept a lower number of higher quality sets. Having said that, a Gringotts expansion would be excellent - I expect it will be on a 32x32 baseplate with the front aligned with the middle of the street as in the films. Could be either $130 or $250, I'd rather not get the underground sections/minecarts included and honestly not fussed about the dragon as think it would display better as just another building on the street. The vaults/dragon would be better as a standalone playset in my opinion. I'm not too excited by the books and would have liked to skip these - but they look to be well designed sets and if the McGonagall figure is anything to go by then might end up being tempted.
  7. Thanks all re calling customer service, just managed to get through and brickheadz added (don't even like them but might resell and recoup some Diagon Alley money...) Can't wait for it all to arrive! Feels like Christmas
  8. Has anyone in the UK tried calling customer service recently? I am trying to see if they can add the brickheads to my order but not getting through to anyone.
  9. Must be nice to have a job wherever you work. At least we don't have the "Pleeeease don't be a FB minifigure" lottery this time!
  10. Good to know! I don't know whether to buy a full set and miss out on the fun of not knowing who I'll get or to buy the bags blindly until I start getting doubles.
  11. Anyone in the UK encountered the second CMF series yet?
  12. Would be great if it came with some grindylows, mermaids, blast ended skrewts etc. but I doubt it. Apparently it's probably $20-30 price range based on the set number so a potential GWP perhaps? I expect it'll be a large brick built book but it would be nice if it was a minifigure scale leaky cauldron bedroom - where we first encounter the book.
  13. I've been thinking about the leaked PS Harry minifigure, whilst a diagon alley entrance that adds to the set would be great I can't see it happening as the pavement is so narrow at that end next to WWW. Instead I wonder if we'll get a polybag like set with street furniture: owl stands, cauldron towers, food cart, suitcases, etc. Maybe another Hagrid too?
  14. I'm still going to get it as I've already saved up but I agree with @topiku that the absence of Gringotts is certainly an excuse not to buy and there are others too, the bright pink might be off-putting for those hoping for a less garish build and the minifigure selection isn't as must-have as it could have been. All in all though I'm very happy with it, think it'll look excellent front on and from the side with all the signs protruding out.
  15. Given that a lot of us seem to be slightly underwhelmed by the minifigure count, how many would people have been satisfied with? For me just 2 more would have been fine, if say Arthur and Percy had been included then I would have been very happy. Rita Skeeter and Mundungus Fletcher would have been great but a bit of a long shot, more likely (and less interesting) would have been some more students in WWW.
  16. Gift with purchase, LEGO sometimes includes a freebie if you spend enough
  17. I generally only display Harry Potter sets but I'm going to include Gandalf in Diagon Alley. I was actually hoping I could have Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli at a table in the Leaky Cauldron too but it's not to be not yet anyway!
  18. Agreed, I think it's unlikely. Just funny how the decision was made to feature one side of the street alone - they must have known what they were excluding.
  19. I think the designers actually used the first two films almost exactly as their source (excluding WWW of course). In the clip below from 43s and even in the thumbnail you can see that the right hand side of the street as you face Gringotts goes Ollivanders, Scribbulus, QQS, door (Daily Prophet entrance), Florean Fortescue's, F&B, Knockturn Alley entrance. And the building containing QQS is pink - it just doesn't look great in the set imo as such a bright shade over a large area. It almost makes you wonder whether they could release the whole left hand side at a separate date! Owl Emporium, Cauldron shop, Madam Malkins, Leaky Cauldron(?), etc.
  20. What a mystery the leaked Harry is. The only part of the build I'm not keen on is the pink above QQS. It looks a bit blocky especially with the big square windows.
  21. Well I'm getting it
  22. We're not getting a blacked out box design which is nice. Does anyone think the set might be microscale???
  23. Happy with the figs we're getting. Would have loved a Percy Weasley - I think this was the perfect opportunity to include him finally. Shame there's no Arthur or older students for WWW scenes. There has been hardly any discussion about the build! Things I've noticed from the pics: - Cobbled street outside which is excellent for display purposes - Different brightly coloured facades for each shop including a new window piece for F&B - Arch to Knockturn Alley next to WWW (hopefully a sign of things to come - Scribbulus has an upstairs so I assume we'll likely get multiple floors for each building - Baseplates look to be 16x32 as expected Can't wait for a full reveal!
  24. Yeah I'm hoping it'll just be a huge Harry Potter set rather than anything else. Gutted there's no Leaky Cauldron especially. Hopefully we get a Leaky Cauldron and Gringotts separately - which does make sense to some degree given that both could connect at each end of the street. I'm happy with all the shops bar Scribbulus, the rest except the Daily Prophet office are significant enough in the books at least and the Daily Prophet office won't take up a full shop so it gets a pass - especially if we get Rita Skeeter. Here's hoping for a Percy Weasley (pleeeeease), Lucius Malfoy and Gilderoy Lockhart (surely).
  25. Seems a reasonable piece count to me. Slightly less than the (same price) Hogwarts D2C which had lots of small pieces - but also lots of big pieces in the base especially.
