I am not really a train guy so forgive me if this is an easy question to answer. I have the Maersk Train and the Emerald Night. I was just wondering if set #3677 Red Cargo Train comes with everything that I would need to motorize the other 2 trains?

I'm usually one for bright colors, but I do not like this at all! Of course I will still get it

So I've posted a lot in this thread, but not really about the secondary market value of the Falcon, mostly towards how to build the Falcon by piece mail. Figured its time i add my 2 cents about the crazy prices on the secondary market. I find it a little crazy how some people want to complain about the insane prices ($1500+) of the Millenium Falcon on sites such as EBay or Bricklink. I know it sucks that they could go for so much, but like many people said, the UCS line, much likes its name, is a Collectors series. Yes it does suck that some people probably bought 2 or 3, heck maybe even 4 or 5+ of these sets when they were out only to hold them for resale purposes. But that is one way to collect Lego. Some people collect them for fun and rip them open and play with them the first chance they get, others keep them boxed for their own keeping with no intent to resell, others treat Lego as an investment. I am an avid baseball card collector as well. So many times people will scoop up so many cards of a highly touted prospect or rookie and sell them a year down the road for quadruple the price. I've realized that everyone collects in their own way. I find this topic somewhat similar to buying a house, or a car(which was mentioned earlier in the thread as well). I'm currently in the market for a house now. When I meet a seller, I know that the seller is most likely (barring some sort of special circumstance where they need to get out asap) the seller is looking to make a profit on his/her house. Should I tell him it is wrong that he is trying to make a profit because there are so many people in this world who don't have a house? Same goes for vintage cars. I recently came out of my dark ages about a year ago. I missed out on so many great releases: Cafe Corner, Market Street, Town Plan, Eiffel Tower, and the UCS Millennium Falcon just name a few. Not once did I sit here and complain that the prices are too high. I did not sit here and hope the Lego company would re-release the set so that I can buy it at MSRP. Now I am not trying to sit here and say that I am better than anyone who though different because I am not at all. Just trying to show that these secondary market prices have a huge effect on me as a Lego collector. All a re-release would do is make these sets less "amazing". Yes I know it is hard to make the Millennium Falcon anything but amazing but if everyone single person in the entire world had one, there would be nothing special about owning it. If everyone owned a Cafe Corner and a Market Street, what would really be so special about them? Part of collecting is having something limited that not many other people have. When the Millennium Falcon/Cafe Corner/Market Street etc were all in stores, everyone had the same chance to get them and they didn't. There were many times were I remember going into a Toys R Us or KB Toys and seeing the Batman Lego on the shelf but did not buy them because I was not a Lego collector at that point in my life anymore. Do I regret it? Absolutely. Am I going to complain about the people who did buy them 5 years ago and are now selling them at such a price that I can't really justify buying them? Not at all. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on this topic as it seems like a lot of people here are involved in it.

Just started building mine and WOW this set is huge!!!

Yea I am afraid that if Lego Customer Service does not have any left in stock that it is discontinued. If you really cannot afford to buy it off of Bricklink right now, then use this. It is the same piece, just mine the printing. Still better than nothing! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=50990
-
That is true, but I'm not sure it would be true with a rare piece like the radar dish. The Falcon is the only set which the radar dish appears in so I am not sure they would produce more of that part just to keep as inventory.

Yea I am so happy I decided to start this when I did! I wanted to start it earlier but I thought it was going to take a lot more time than it did. Right now I am just waiting for hte 1x16 Dark bluish grey technic bricks, the yellow technic L brackets, and the grey levers to arrive from Lego and I will get started!
-
Looks like I decided to piece this together at just the right time! If I was you, better hurry up and grab one of them off Bricklink. Only 5 listed on there! http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=50990pb03

Yes, they are perfectly okay with that. I am waiting for my very last order from Lego; it consists of about 8-10 different parts, totaling 100-150 pieces.
-
Yes, that is exactly what I did. Of course when you 'request" them you need to pay for them, so its not like Lego is losing out or anything.
-
Just picked up 8129 AT AT Walker from Toys R Us for 30% off ($83.99) and also got the free R2-D2 thumb drive
-
That is for Licensed parts. So if you were to order the minifig parts via the replacement parts program, you would need to provide that number to "prove" that you already own the set. That number is a 7 digit (I believe) that is located on the back of the instruction manual.
-
Boo! I didn't get to see them!
-
Haha well I actually tried that once. I said "Well I've moved a few times and can't seem to find the instructions anymore" but they guy told me that he "needed" that number for the order to go through. Right, I basically tried that with some older sets because I just came out of the dark ages and getting pieces or a minifigure that way was way cheaper. I'm a collector and just missed out on some pretty fancy sets.
-
I believe that since this is a licensed set, if you request replacement parts for the minifig parts you need to provide the 7 digit number from the back of the instruction manual. I did however, get around this once; I just placed an order with a few minifigs from Batman and the Lego rep never asked for the 7 digit number. She just put the order through as normal/. I ordered the rader dish, the 1x16 Dark Bluish Grey Technic bricks, the Yellow technic corner bricks, the all great levers, the 3 different size hoses, and the mast rigging from Lego replacement program and I did not run into a problem at all.
-
Hmmm that's true! I didn't even think of that. It would have saved me a few bucks too because I ended up paying around $6 on Bricklink for the dark red plate.
-
I actually checked the replacement parts section for that set and the 6x14 dark red plate was not there. I believe the piece itself may be out of production so you can not order any of them. I did contemplate buying that set and "borrowing" the dark red plate, but then either way I would need another one.
-
I just did a replacement parts order for the 10179 also, I needed a few extra parts and I ordered 2 extra mast riggings so when they come in, they will be available for someone who needs them. I believe the plate you are talking about is the Dark Red 6x14 plate. The plate is not really visible so if you substitute a LBG it wont make much of a difference. But I would not stand knowing that i used hte wrong color so I had to buy one of the dark red plates off BrickLink so everything would match.
-
I cannot wait to get this set!! When it was first announced I was iffy because it really is just a bunch of LBG plates together, but from all the many pictures I have seen, it looks amazing and very detailed. I missed out on the 10030- ISD due to me being in the dark ages, but I will not miss out on this set!
-
Unfortunately this is what I did as well. I would not be able to deal with the bricks being different colors. Even though practically all of them are not visible, I would know haha. I ordered the dark bluish gray and the yellow technic corner bricks from Lego replacement parts program. I am waiting for them to come; they are the final pieces that I need for the Millednium Falcon!! I also called Lego and the have the instruction manual available for purchase. Its $53. I am debating if I want to spend all that extra cash on the instruction manual. Its very tempting not to!
-
Exactly the point of Lego. It's a shame that a set as beautiful as this one gets stored MISB rather than built and displayed.
-
I am piecing together the Falcon right now, I have ordered every single part, just waiting for them to be delivered. Once I am done I am going to get an accurate total price. I ordered the boat mast rigging from Lego's replacement part program. Got 2 of them for like $1.50

I've been thinking about doing this as well. I really like the dark red color so I was thinking of doing that. Was going to use LDD and mess with the different color combinations and see what looked best. The sand blue looks very nice!!
