Great review!! I got the Town Hall and Friday and built it over the weekend. Love the set, love the color! My only negative about this set and I hope that this does not continue is the red outline in the instructions. Back 10 years ago you needed to look at the previous picture to see what had changed, nowadays between the piece call out and the red outline it seems as if TLG might as well come build it for us! Now I do know that with a set of this magnitude and detail piece call out may be required but I am really against the red outline; it threw me off more tan helped me.

Well originally I bought pieces to add an extra floor to my original Grand Emporium. Once I purchased the 2nd Grand Emporium I had to expand it! There are a bunch of pieces left over from the 2nd set. That building is a combination of the 2 sets and the extra floor. I have contemplated expanding the Grand Emporium 16 studs on the other side as well to make it one HUGE corner building. And I have actually already begun the project of making a wider Fire Brigade. I have made it with 2 Garage Doors. Still a work in progress so no pictures yet!

I love the Grand Emporium. That is the reason I came out of my dark ages. Quick little story for ya...started a new job in Oct 2010 and found out my boss was a HUGE lego fan. She had a catalog with her so I just perused through it seeing what Lego has been up to. At that point I was out of the Lego world for quite a while. As I was flipping through the pages I came to the Modular House page. Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, and Green Grocer staring me in the face, but the Grand Emporium just stood out so much! Went back to my desk and ordered it immediately! Its been all uphill (well downhill for my bank account haha) since then. Back to the topic at hand here. A while back when TRU did its B2G1 90% off deal, one of the sets I picked up was my 2nd Grand Emporium. I had a vision to combine them and make a bigger building. Between Bricklinking other sets that i have missed and other things going on in my life I never had time....until now. No pictures of the inside yet; I have yet to fill it with details. I added a 2nd set of windows to the roof (I know there are blue 1x1 clips in there, I do not have any in black! Will be making a BrickLink order asap!) What does everyone think? Comments/Criticism are all welcome! http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg191/yank100th/Lego/?action=view¤t=2c81e0e8.jpg http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg191/yank100th/Lego/?action=view¤t=c17047aa.jpg http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg191/yank100th/Lego/?action=view¤t=d5b47c8c.jpg http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg191/yank100th/Lego/?action=view¤t=20e31e9d.jpg

Just picked up another Fire Brigade today at TRU. Also got the Medieval Market Village with the BOGO. Also had a 20% coupon from my rewards membership that I used on the Fire Brigade so I got my Fire Brigade for $120 and Medieval Market for $50. Great day for Lego I would say!

According to www.rebrickable.com the Super Star Destryer provides you with 1304 parts which is 25% of the pieces for the Millenium Falcon.

Grand Emporium! All of the modular houses are great but the Grand Emporium is what pulled me out of my dark ages. Since then it has been a very slippery slope for my bank account!

Mine fit the exact same way! I ordered my 60 from Lego a while back so I just assumed it was that they were brand new never played with. It did become a little annoying at times because I would want them in the perfect place and they were almost impossible to turn

I really like this!!!!! A little bummed that it is not 48 wide, that would have been a nice addition. But this is very nice! I love the color!

Hmmm wow that is a lot for the instruction booklet!! But I will need to order it. I really hope it is shipped to you (and me haha) securely! I would like it as mint as possible. Hmm that is funny...it seems as if TLG doesn't need the proof of purchase number to process these orders. I ordered the sticker set no problem.

How much was the instruction booklet? I need to pick one up!

What a great MOC!!!!! Do you by any chance have a video of it moving? I would love to see that!!

Minifigs cost a lot more for Lego to make than regular bricks so the more minifigs in a set, means a higher cost to produce that set which means a higher selling price for that set.
-
That is not true at all. I ordered the 2 Mast Riggings twice in a week and received both orders no problem. I did not do it for a profit, I am keeping spare parts and because those are rare I wanted spares of the spares.

Thats a very good idea! When I came out of my dark ages the Grand Emporium was the first set that I bought but I have sort of moved to Star Wars because I got most of the older city sets I wanted. I need to go back to city and add detail to modular houses!
-
What a great idea! I've actually built more floors for my Grand Emporium but haven't found time to fill them yet.

I just picked up 6211- Imperial Star Destroyer with 2 extra Stormtroopers for $115!
-
I know they are expensive or hard to get now, but they are Light Bluish gray on the real Falcon. I think that if you put black mastings on there it was stand out too much and take away from the model. With the Light Bluish Gray masting you really see the Trans Dark Blue pieces underneath. Not sure they would stand out as much with black masting.

Thanks! Sorry for that, I looked a few pages back, maybe I just missed it.

So I originally missed out on the holiday train so I put it together by piece mail. Just need to pick up a few more of the train wheel parts; that train is long so it needs a bunch! I was wondering if the only way to power it was by the 9V system thing. I don't want to purchase all that just for the one train when I will be purchasing a bunch of PF parts for other trains. Can you power the Holiday Train by PF?

Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
adello25 replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I ended up buying 3677 Red Cargo Train. TRU was offering the $25 off $100 or more plus I had a $10 reward certificate so it seemed like a great deal for me! I will be picking up more PF parts for the Emerald Night and Maersk train. I don't really feel like having to take each set apart to make another motortized so I am just going to stick with the AAA battery box and get one for the Maersek train and then separate IR receivers for each of them. -
Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
adello25 replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ahh thank you for clearing that up! I thought it was weird that you needed a AAA battery box AND a rechargeable battery box. I think I can do with a rechargeable battery box, I wont be running them all that often. -

Thanks for the tips guys! Toys R Us is doing the special $25 off $100 or more so I figured it was a good idea to pick up that train set especially since the power functions are like $100 from S@H
