LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Tamamono replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Can't wait for the Toy Fair tomorrow! I doubt we'll see any Series 8, but we'll probably see some closeups of Series 7, and Series 8 prelim pictures can't be far away! I don't think that's likely to happen. LEGO has been using the same packaging for 6 (and possibly 7 or 8 if the rumors are true) series now. Besides, I'm sure someone will find a method of shaking the boxes or something. -

Thanks again, Hinck! I am really happy with my performance this time! I know, Foog posted that PM to us via the Writeboard. I was in stitches reading that! This is a good example of how thinking like a scum can catch the scum. Thanks! I think it was partly having a team to constantly talk at (seriously, I had hundreds of posts on the Writeboard ) coordinate with, but I think it was also being in the know. I played well in Isla Paradisa, but that was when I was organizing the town. My biggest flaw in these games (I think) is that I'm not the best at figuring things out, and I assume too much. Honestly, after we had narrowed it down to either Wuntin or Zepher as the vigilante, I started calling the vig Zeph for the rest of the game. I hope Zeph kills JimB tonight! The fact that I was on the side that had almost everything figured out made a huge difference for me. No, I said I almost slipped up a couple times. It was really hard trying to not be too nosy (which really should have been a giveaway - anyone who's ever had a long-term PM going with me in one of these games knows that I'm incredibly nosy) while still pretending to be in the dark. I had to proofread my posts and PMs several times before I posted them to check for anything I wasn't supposed to know. The hardest one was pretending that you and Goofy were two separate people. Yeah, I had a lot of trouble with the sting. I was having to be extra careful not to give anything away, but I also had to act like I was totally pissed - which I wasn't at the time. I guess we didn't plan it closely enough, because the post I wrote and the description of me coming to you calmly and explaining things totally didn't match up. I suppose I was a bit too paranoid this game. When we were pulling the sting, I was almost completely sure that you were going to get the town to prepare to lynch me and then leave me high and dry. I was so relieved when you convinced everyone that I was on the level! Thank you so much! I'm excited to play with you again soon, and I hope we can actually be on the same team next time. This really was an awesome game, and it's definitely improved my playing style. Or maybe I just naturally play good scum. Either way. -

It was me. Sowwy! I had been gunning for you before Day 1 even started. After working so closely with you in Gotham, I knew your playing style (even though you weren't doing the whole 'coordinate the whole town' thing this game), and I was definitely not prepared to deal with you. Plus, you saw right through me in no time at all, and I was sure I would suffer the same fate as Pie had we let you live. You were a virgin, anyway, so your death was useful to us. My plan to win was basically to behead the town by taking out its leaders and inner circle and then to leisurely pick off virgins at our own convenience. It's too bad we didn't realize that we could have taken out Hinck on Night 3 with the High Priest role - I'm sure Cornelius would have still taken over, but Hinck wouldn't have been able to get his info to Cecilie and the town would have been seriously crippled. As it was, I received PMs from both fhomess and Scubacarrot on Day 5 asking me to be part of their new inner circle. Even with the town divided between you and Hinck, you were a major threat. You took out Pie without even being that involved in the game yourself (or so you say)! -

Oh, okay, that makes sense. In that case, thank you both for the great feedback! I feel like I improved a lot this game, and I plan to take these improvements to the next game I'm in too! -

Thanks for the great feedback, Pandora! It's great when both the scum and the town are left a little bit in the dark, so that both teams have to work hard to figure out the mysteries of the game. I really enjoyed that part of this game, too! Yeah, I suppose I am a bit eager to post. Although I always do pay very close attention to what I'm saying to make sure that I'm not giving anything away. It's too bad though, I won't be able to just play dumb next time I get scum! Yeah, in this game I learned how important a good balance between instincts and logic is, and I'll try to implement that balance more next game. Thanks again for the feedback, and for letting me play in this awesome game! I had a wonderful time! Yeah, the whole 'Dead Weight' thing was just Pie poking fun. -

That's a good point, and like Rufus said, giving 'ninja' hints would have been way too obvious. You're absolutely right. There's no way to program for the kind of unpredictable moves that players pull in these games, and that's what makes mafia so much fun - it's unpredictable. You guys really did set up a great balance for the game. And I'm sure my complaints are based solely on the fact that I was scum. That's another good point. There were actually less players that we needed to kill, and the vigkills and lynches were helping us toward our goal. If the town had mislynched more or the vig had killed virgins more often, then we would have been in a much better position. I also want to commend Wuntin for having such great self-control this game. In a game like this, a reckless vigilante can doom the town, but you held your fire often enough so that you weren't able to give us any advantages. Great job! -
Thanks, Flipz! I think I made a good choice with the Topaz as well. Too bad there were no Amethysts! I'll have to try to get my hands on one soon. Yeah, I'll keep a keen eye out for those scrolls! I was originally planning on tweaking his backstory to become a Witch, but I eventually decided against it. Then I was planning on making him a Druid! In the end I figured the best course of action would be Sage.

A Hijacker action would have been totally awesome. I had just been thinking the other day what an advantage it gave the Baritones 3 scum. I have to admit, I'm really a sucker for weird or uncommon roles, and I loved and hated the High Priest role when I found out what it did. However, you really shouldn't have named it 'ascetic', because mafiascum defines asectic as killable. As for the other actions, I do have a couple of complaints. Firstly, having both a Virgin Cop and a Cherrinator plus an Investigator was over the top. While at least one of the first two was totally necessary, and it was important to get an investigator to clear the nonvirgins, having all three was too much. I think the Virgin Cop could have been cut without any problem. Secondly, the fact that we needed to kill all ten virgins gave us a very narrow path to walk. I think either the Virgin Cop or the Watcher/Tracker could have been virgins instead to give us a little more leeway. And duh! I can't believe I didn't realize that it was the first person quoted in-thread! If we had figured that out, I think we would have been able to take out some important people. I don't think so. Both Hinckley and def have their own very distinct playing styles, and we (at least I was) were more prepared to deal with Hinck than with def. I still can't believe that I was investigated and cherrinated in the same night and still got away because of what I claimed to Hinck! I can't believe my plan to trick the tracker actually worked. It didn't do me much good, though! The problem with watchers/trackers is that they can't always get perfect results because the scum can choose not to act just like the town can. With my skilled defense? Zepher would'a been toast! Especially if he had been claiming that his block failed on me. -

Didn't def and his Russian Mafia try to kill Rick on Night 1 of Baritones 3 too? Man, Rick and Night 1 deaths is like Pie or Big Cam and Day 1 lynches. -

I have to admit, I played that game like a scum. What? If you thought I was scum, then what was the point of trying to get info from me? No way would I have spilled info I wasn't the last scum. Thank you! I don't think I'd call the others 'the three stooges'. Everyone tried their best, and the town came out on top. Sure, there was some bad execution (you really should have cleared it with us before you claimed that Nancy cured mental illness or before you said anything about Doc, Pie), but I think we were a good team. My only complaint is that TinyPies and Doc never really added much in the writeboard. As scum, we're confirmed to each other and we have a place to communicate, so we should use that to our advantage. We knew almost everything at that point. I killed you because you were the least likely to have protection that night, and I was right. -

Tamamono replied to Pandora's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Which is exactly why I was hesitant to kill you. You were so trusting! I actually thought Hinck had sent you to contact me to see what I would say. I've always been kind of a worrier, so when Pie's name came up I was almost certain he would get lynched. I didn't want to vote for him too soon, but I figured it would be okay for me to express some concern about him beforehand so it would make me look good if I didn't make it to the computer in time to vote quick if a bandwagon started. And we already knew your role. Honestly, the only role we weren't sure about was the investigator, and in the end that was the one that mattered most. Heh heh, that was us. Fugazi and I were the ones directing all the night actions on most nights, and we're on almost opposite time-zones, so we had a very small window of opportunity to coordinate and get our actions in. As a matter of fact, almost all our actions were in around the 5-10 minute mark of the deadline. Actually, what you said after the deadline made me even more hesitant to kill you. You said you were watching Sandy, and we were just killing you to prevent you seeing Foog protect TinyPies. Looking back now, I really regret Night 3. I wish we had killed Scubacarrot or fhomess that night. Especially fhomess. Then we would have known to kill Cecilie on Night 5! Thank you! And yes, I threw together a list as quickly as I could to make it look like I was a clueless townie when you posted yours, and it wasn't until I had sent it off that I realized that it was almost an exact replica of yours! It's really too bad the town was so well-off when they lynched me. Sandy and a few others were expressing concern and doubt about my lynch, so I think I could have stuck with the bomb claim and overturned my bandwagon if the town had been in a worse position. Since everybody else seems to be putting down notes on players, I suppose I'll have to join in too! All aboard the bandwagon! Fugazi: Like I said on our writeboard, it was really awesome playing with you. You taught me a lot about how to play good scum, and you basically sacrificed yourself for me at the end there. Thanks, buddy! It's really a great idea for the scum protector to try and step in as a townie protector, and the weak doctor claim was genius! Hinckley: You were totally 'on' this game. Definitely Harriet the Slut version 2.0! I really enjoyed finally getting the chance to play with you closely, and you were almost like another scummate to me. I have to admit, I am very surprised that you believed my bomb claim! I actually thought that it would look scummy for someone to try to get themselves killed in a game where they weren't the Jester. The sting was really a blast to pull, but I almost slipped up there a couple of times! Sorry again that you had to die, but we just couldn't let you live any longer. Cornelius: Great job stepping in for Hinck at the end there! You play with the perfect mentality for a town leader, because you play town like a scum. The way you play is incredibly efficient. You keep things to yourself, keep quiet in-thread, but stay strong for the town when they're unsure of something. That thing you pulled on Bob was great too, and it's exactly the sort of thing that would work on a scum. Too bad Bob didn't understand the virgin role! I have to ask though, why did you never have me investigated? Def: Sorry, man. You were playing pretty well early on too, and you were on to me so early! Either that or you were just going out of your way to piss me off. I almost came to you with the bomb claim because it would look more natural since we worked together so closely in Gotham. Although I have a feeling you never would have believe it. Cecilie: I can only echo what others have said here. You played really well! At first I figured maybe we could use your quietness to our advantage and maybe get you lynched later in the game, but you definitely proved me wrong! Ever since Night 2 I had a feeling that we should kill you if we ever had a lack of a better option, but we unfortunately never followed through on it. This was only your third game, and you died really early in the other two, so good job! I hope to be able to play on the same side with you sometime! -
Wow, Flipz, that's some pretty in-depth advice. Wall Of Text is super effective! Tammo fainted! Do you think Sage was a good choice for Tomas? I chose it mainly based on character development, but Sage really is an awesome class. My main concern about it is that I've pretty much been the party's 'potion' (), and I always plan to be that, but the spellcasting might get in the way of my usefulness as a Cleric. However, lots of other characters are choosing the Cleric hybrids, so they'll be able to heal as well.

The Curse of IMHOTEP - Conclusion
Tamamono replied to Pandora's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hinck had said to you guys that either TinyPies or fhomess was the investigator. We knew TinyPies was one of us, so we figured it was fhomess. I guess either Cecilie was lying to him or he was lying to you and Foog to protect her. My logic in killing fhomess was that we would either A. get a virgin or B. get the investigator. Imagine my surprise when we got neither! We actually didn't take the Cherrinator action into account that Night. If I could play this game over again, there would be a lot things I would do differently. For one, I wouldn't tell Pie to claim psychiatrist. (Actually, it was better than our first claim though - I was going to make him claim alarmist. ) Because the action campies were getting in our way. I love the idea of this game mechanic, but it made it incredibly hard for us scum. I don't think the killing of Hinck really needs an explanation, but we killed WbD because we were scared of his watcher action. That was the night we protected TinyPies, and we didn't want to take the chance that WbD would watch him to see who protected him. Even though it was Foog that protected him, and he was the High Priest. Night 3 really wasn't our best night. I had tried to convince Foog (and myself, to be perfectly honest) that the High Priest action would slip in undetected behind the watcher action, but we were both kind of unsure about it, so we went ahead and got rid of poor Scooby Doo. Looking back now, we really should have killed Scubacarrot that night and left WbD alone. By the end, we were basically using our killing action to prevent people from getting results. We pretty much put everything on fhomess being the investigator, and that was a gamble we lost. Things might have been different had we killed Cecilie. I don't remember that. -

The Cherrinator was the town mason-esque action. Once per night, the Cherrinator had the ability to 'have their way' with one virgin, therefore deflowering them and turning them into the next Cherrinator. It went like this: Eskallon -> Sandy -> Cornelius -> fhomess (right?). The current Cherrinator could get their virginity back by 'having their way' with another virgin. (That's not quite how it works in real life, but okay. ) It was originally Eskallon's action (he was Superman). Flitwick's action was completely separate. Yes. Let's lynch him! For the greater good of the camp! -

Once again, it's no problem, and quite frankly, it was my fault for responding in the way I did. I'm very sorry for that. I'm glad we were able to put this behind us and continue being friends! I have the strangest urge to begin my next post with the words, "Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned...". Thanks, Kiel! You've really grown as a player too, and I hope I get the chance to play with you (and my other Paradisa classmates) in another game again very soon! We really should have a Mafia School: Escape from Isla Paradisa reunion sometime. To be perfectly honest, I was just having fun with you guys by the end there. Although, had my plan worked and I got Sandy lynched, I would have then tried to get Wuntin to kill Kiel and I would have tried to convince ADHO to protect Cornelius so I could kill Esky. Then I would have gotten Cornelius lynched Day 8 and won. That never would have worked, though. -

I think you would have been able to bounce vigkills off the cloak and hit us, but I'm not entirely sure. No, we had to use the High Priest role with the killing role attached to it. We could switch around roles when one of us died, so when TP died I gave the Herbalist action to Foog (who was the High Priest after Doc died), and he killed Hinck with it. Without the High Priest action, the cloak would have functioned as normal. No, it was ten. I was just trying to kill more virgins so I could say at the end, "Well, at least I got _ virgins!" -
The Curse of IMHOTEP - Conclusion
Tamamono replied to Pandora's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well, I'm not sure exactly what it did, but I can answer the second half of your question. We were able to kill Hinck with the High Priest role (yes, I was telling the truth about it! ), because it negated the mirror effects. In the Day 4 interval, remember the Friends were all turned into zombies (I assume this was because the cloak reflected to the scum, right? That's why Fangy saw 'Hinck' targeting def on Night 1, because Foog was really protecting him.), but Is was reflected normally in the mirror because she and Ossie were living an 'ascetic lifestyle' I can't remember the entire passage, but it was exactly the same as Brickdoctor's (our original High Priest) role description. Foog was the one who figured out the clue. I assume the High Priest would have bypassed the watcher then, too, right? It was essentially a ninja action? Also, did you really have Wuntin go after Foog on Night 5, or was that a bluff like your 'investigation' on Bob? Yup! Finally! We killed both Hinckley and def, but we still got caught! I suspect a new age of dominant towns is beginning! -
I've already said this on your profile, but happy birthday, Scouty! Have a great day!
