  1. Just got it today for $66 with my mother. When she saw the price and save ($35 less) she nearly ripped it off the shelf and put it in the cart. XD Love the set, especially with the extra value it has at the new price point. Love the dwarves and goblins, especially the Goblin King.
  2. Really? You liked all that racism in a children's cartoon? ... I'm joking, but you actually LIKED that episode with the Gorillas? Where they attacked every single Croc they could find with no warning? Really?
  3. I'm just calling them Hawks (and the other tribe/race names) to reflect their likely ideology (Hawks coming from the Doves vs Hawks war thing in U.S. past.) (It also would make them easier to distinguish as sets hypothetically.) And on the whole "Great Mellow" and "Tower Flower", I understand how difficult it was to create such a flower. I understand that they probably won't be able to create another one for a long time. But even if the flower wasn't immediately destroyed (as it looked finished growing to me) there is only so long a flower can last, no matter how big. The Gorillas could (unlikely) have taken this in stride and strived to make another flower. But what do the Gorillas do after chasing off Cragger? They run back to their village, arm up themselves, and charge towards the Croc Village. And what do they do when they reach the fort? Do they call out for the perpetrator to reveal themselves? Do they even announce their intentions? No! They start attacking and destroying any Croc they see with wordless roars of anger! The Crocs try to defend themselves and close up their fort, but when they're being outmatched at their own fort they try to run away on their boats to somewhere the Gorillas can't follow. And how do the Gorillas respond when there's no more Crocs to beat up? Give chase to them! And when the Gorillas can't give chase anymore (because they're stuck on a boggy island with no nearby trees to jump to) what do the surrounding Crocs do? Set up a barricade and fire on them, but mostly keep back. And when the Eagles and Lions come to save the Gorillas, do they carry the mechs off to dryer land so they can get away? No! They fly around carrying the mechs to pummel the Croc boats! And what really ticks me off is how Lagravis does not even think to mention the folly in bringing land based, top-heavy mechs to attack a swamp (almost) unprovoked. I am also really disturbed about the vehicles the Gorillas use compared to other tribes. Namely: The Lions have variants of motorcycles, jeeps, ATVs, tanks, and some small watercraft. There's a relatively clean line between military vehicles and sport/scout vehicles The Eagles have mostly entirely aircraft, with a few motorbikes and a tank or two for land forces. The majority of Eagle vehicles have escape pods. Very few of their vehicles are equipped with weapons. The Ravens are pretty much entirely small-to-medium, slow, junked flyers designed to haul large amounts of cargo, with the ideal amount of weapons needed to defend their loot. The Wolves, as a nomadic major tribe, have to be able to pick up everything they own and move out. Thus, they have a large variety of small to large land vehicles with random degrees of weapons because of the Wolves' need to have any part of the pack be interchangeable with another. The Crocs vary between land and water craft, with a partial focus on more industrial vehicles (The Claw Ripper as a logger, for example), but also with their fair share of weapons to match the other tribes. But the Gorillas, as we've seen, really only have two different kinds of vehicles- Speedors and their big mechs. And the Gorilla Speedors have only been used for the major races, so really they only use their mechs. But with no weapons besides a removable shoulder mounted "banana cannon" it becomes very difficult to classify their mechs as military or utilitarian, so the Gorillas and their dangerous mechs are given a pass by the other tribes. I'm really sick of the hypocritical "peace loving" Gorillas, who half the time seem to bait the other tribes into giving the Gorillas an excuse to attack them. The Gorillas, who call for peace and mellowness, yet only carry blunt weapons (weapons not designed to kill, but designed to injure and be easy to argue as harmless). At least the Wolves' have their honor, the Crocs' their rugged truthlike nature, the Ravens' worship of value, the Lions' compulsion to guard and equally distribute the Chi, and the Eagles' strong inner control against aggression. Finally, I understand this is a children's show designed to market toys to children. I understand completely why each different tribe is stereotyped into one mold. I understand the need for conflict in Chima to make a story. But I can't accept the Gorillas, who are designated as "good guys", yet seem much closer to a Lego equivalent to the Westboro Baptist Church. Sorry for the (sort of) rant. I'm just really ticked off that this kind of stuff is on television for children. (Even though I wouldn't accept this on television for teenagers and older as well.)
  4. While I know this show is primarily a medium to sell toys, and is therefore understandably childish, I've always tried to look at the series deeper, asking why the tribes do the things they do. For example, why are the vast majority of Eagles scholars, while their vehicles have some military weapons? Did there use to be other Eagles (or Hawks as I call them) who were more military/expansionist leaning and were banished for the general peace of the rest of the major tribes? Same with Lions that were more vicious and didn't hold back in fighting (i.e. Tigers) Gorillas who refused to be mellow and calm (Chimps or other monkeys) Ravens that either weren't mercantile enough or too shady in their dealings (I like Vultures) Crocodiles that refused to live in the tough life of the Crocs (Turtles) Wolves who refused to join the pack mind and were individualistic (Foxes) I mean, it's obvious with their superior air force the Eagles could have easily pushed the Lions from their home and take all the Chi for themselves, so why haven't they? Simple- through successive generations and banishments Eagles who had the capability to think this way disappeared from the main Chima area. Same with the other tribes, which eventually caused the tribes to condense into the stereotypes they are today, as tribe members who rubbed against the grain upset the balance and were thus exiled. What really upsets me are the war crimes committed in Episode 9. I mean, I know the "tower flower" was very important for Gorilla culture and mythology, but after clearly seeing only one Croc was responsible, and then taking the fight to the currently innocent Croc village is just wrong. When G'Loona (the female Gorilla) goes to warn the Lions about the rampage of revenge, I expected them to go in to either hold back the Gorillas or protect the Crocs. Instead we are treated to a three tribe witch hunt on the Crocs. And of course when the fighting dies down and the "good guys" are victorious, are the Gorillas punished or even mildly scolded for picking a fight on an innocent people and getting their megablocks handed to them until help arrived? No! They congratulate themselves and cry out how they can team up to defeat the "evil Crocs!" It's just sick, personally. I understand the status quo and the fact the L-E-G tribes are supposed to be the good guys, and the R-C-W tribes are meant to be the bad guys, but really? I'd expect better for a show aimed mostly at preteen boys. But teaching kids it's okay to stereotype the entire "bad guy" tribe and attack them for the actions of one is not right. Especially when they find themselves in a mostly fair fight and need to call in friends to do nearly half the real fighting.
  5. I LOVE warriors, so this Moc is pretty good to start. However, it has some problems. The main one is that it is very hard to represent something like a cat at this scale. Personally I would try to get that hand piece that comes with Nex 3.0 and using that as a paw for size reference. As of now there isn't much that says this is a cat and not, for example, and dog or something. Aedai Rivin
  6. Sad there is no Breez 3.0, but that's what Breez's original helmet is for! I really want to pick up them all, since they're all so great. However, Rocka 3.0 will be so cute and Scorpio I need for lime parts. Stormer and Furno will probably be buys since I don't like their 2.0 versions, but Witch Doctor is already on my must get list. Aedai Rivin
  7. Part of me wants the set for further addition to my steampunk collection, but all the minifigs in it are nonexclusive; I'd rather pick up a third Golden Staff Gaurdians or save up for the Pyramid. And another thing. I have so many places where I want to spend my money I don't want to dish out $100 bucks for some of those minifigs. I think I'll just get a couple repeats of the smaller sets and leave it at that. Aedai Rivin
  8. definite buys for me are: Cleopatra Monkey Trainer Sherlock Holmes Mobster I like that I'll be adding more females to my Steampunk/Egypt collection. I will also try to get the Eskimo, Cavegirl, and Axman for their torsos and excesories. The hats/hair in this series are unbelivable! Blue Bowler, Mobster, Eskimo Hood, Brit. gaurd hair, Legionnaire, Godzilla mask, Boxer hat! This is most definitely the series for head accesories! Aedai Rivin
  9. The Mobster seems like the perfect little set for me. This series has enough awesome figures to justify buying random! Aedai Rivin
  10. Well, they could do a piece that has a ball joint in the middle and three ball joints going out, like that piece that XPlode uses for attacthing his shoulder armor. Aedai Rivin
  11. Well, why not have Lego create a couple Star Wars HF figures, see how they sell, and go from there? Aedai Rivin
  12. Well, they wouldn't do one every wave. At most they would do a liscensed theme every 2 years, or 1 out of 4 waves. Or even better set up a seperate line complementary line that turns liscensed themes into 3-10 sets, and that'd be the wave. The idea is that you buy both HF and these sets, to help people be more imaginative and make certain collectors cream their pants. Aedai Rivin
  13. Personally I love it when they release figures with brown clothing, as I'm a Steampunk guy. Judging from the rumoured 7 other figures, I think they're fake/misunderstandings: Knight- probably the Roman legionnaire or the dwarf (weapons and gear) Baker- midget clown (pie) Bird Trainer- Cleopatra (animal) Astronaut- either godzilla or the legionnaire again Master Sensee- Boxer (sports related sort of) Warlock- cavegirl (similar hair) Pirate- Holmes, since they have similar hats Or maybe I'm making stuff up and we will get this 7 new figures along with the confirmed first 9. Aedai Rivin
  14. But in a potiential Half Life 2 line, each of the sets would have an advertisement listing the Steam site in which they could buy Half Life 2. It would be profit all around, really. We'd have the six small sets be: Gordon Alyx Barney A normal Zombie An average rebel (or to make the small sets even on both sides, An Elite Combine Soldier) A Civil Protection officer And have the 3 $12.99 sets be: Poison Zombie (3 Black Headcrabs!) Antlion 2 of the three scientists (Eli, Mossman, and Kleiner) (same size as the small sets) And the largest sets would be: A Gordon vs Breen set (along with a turrent or two) 2 or 3 or 2.5 Fast Zombies Antlion Gaurd (Maybe) Combine Strider The sets would most likely have a very close likeness to the actual characters, but done in the hero factory style. The specialized pieces would also be able to be used normally with other Hero Factory pieces without too many problems. I'm sure Valve would love having their (8 year old at the time at least) video game characters turned into a line of toys with a lot of customization. The only problem I would see is that Lego might be unwilling to agree to make such bloody/violent sets. If this series came out for real, I would literally spend every last dime on obtaining these figures, even multiples of some of the many army builders. The people would buy this would be the normal buyers, as well as gamers who would love their own Gordon Freeman figure (I personally would) What would be even better than this would be a Half Life 3 series of sets to go along with the new game. All in all, a Half Life 2 series would make me bankrupt and loving it. Aedai Rivin
  15. I loved the ideas being thrown around here, but don't we have to organize this so that we can discuss them more clearly? Like add in the first post two lists; with one having elemental themes (water, desert, ice) and the other general themes (carnival, cowboy, apoc, medivial, steampunk, classic space, etc.) ? And has anyone thought about using liscensed(sp) themes for future waves? Like promoting the Tron movie by having a wave of heroes and villians that style while promoting the movie, and then next wave be something different? Personally I would love an apoc wave with the main hero having orange and black armor called Freeman weilding a red crowbar, with enemies being Zombine ofcourse. Aedai Rivin
  16. Good... Good Lord! These sets are better than I could have ever imagined! The smallest sets contain no less than 4 minifigs! Looking at all these wonderful sets, I can't really choose which one I will hope to get. London Chase looks like my favroite, but any of these is good enough for me. Only downside is that they'll all be overpriced no doubt. Aedai Rivin
  17. Since I'm a Steampunk/Egypt kind of guy, only the Cleopatra and Sherlock Holmes guy interest me. However, if any of these new seven are wearing anything brown, I am sure to grab them just for the variance in clothes. I'm also hoping that the Pirate listed is a female buccaneer, as that would make me drool so much... female figs for my only two interests...want so badly... Aedai Rivin
  18. I'll probably end up getting Rocka, Stringer, and Stormer. Although these figures are all so awesome it doesn't really matter. Aedai Rivin
  19. Wow... I had almost forgotten that Witch Doctor was a definite buy for me. Did he say anything else about Rocka 3.0? He pretty much my favorite 3.0 Hero. Aedai Rivin
  20. I have all of the smaller sets, and this is the last I plan to get (unless they sell the pyramid at ~$70. That is an instant buy for me.) After seeing this review, I really want to get it. But after my less than perfect view on the Cursed Cobra, I am hesitant to dish out $50 for this. But even if I don't like a lot, it still comes with a marvelous assortment of tan pieces, an super smexy vehicle, two more mummies for my army, and parts for another adventurer to add to my crew. All in all, I am most certainly going to get this neat set, but I might want to wait until it drops to like $40 or something. Aedai Rivin
  21. Is the Sphinx set really worth the $50, espicailly of one has a tight budget? Aedai Rivin
  22. I'm really hoping that the new Hero Factory heads are: A: Two piece, using the same lower head piece B: The current style that will be used from now on. Aedai Rivin
  23. But we've had underwater and underground themes more often. Lego has shown that underwater and underground are two themes that they are willing to go into, and I am 100% percent sure we will see those themes within 1-3 years. And besides, a carnival theme as I described is still a good idea... Aedai Rivin
  24. Well, the problem with the elemental set of themes is that desert and ice are a smidgeon too adscure to use next. Underwater and Underground are time tested themes that I can gaurantee Lego uses. I wonder if in any future waves we'll see sets with alt forms, like the 2002 titans, but with an actual meaning and purpose towards the story. A tub with peices for 1 hero and 1 villian at the same time, with extra peices for customization, would be totally sick. Aedai Rivin
  25. I seem to be the only one excited about the Cleopatra figure... Aedai Rivin
