Lego Original World Trade Center LDD (wip)
zeronthegreat replied to zeronthegreat's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you! When its ever completed, I'm thinking it would reach to more than 100,000. Pretty much if I coming the towers and despite of some of the mess, plates, anything that will not be there later on is around 60,000 now. More like 65,000 and hopefully I can build it, I'm not really great with structure, but hopefully it's structurally stable, gotta save money, alternative colours for some bricks, and custom decals. -

I know some pieces don't exist in some colours unfortunatly. : < So there's 21,580 pieces so far. My computer can hold up to 50,000 pieces, splited my twins already because yeah it crashed. And unfortunatly the pieces that doesn't exist, there's other I believe that doesn't exist in that colour, there's nothing I could do or a replacement to make it also look nice besides doing it like this. : < -

Decide to make the tree it's accurate size. But it's barely present in the photos. Finished WTC 7's Plaza and the Bent Propeller Sculpture. Man I don't even know how I manage to pull it off pretty well. My progress can be vied on my Flickr. Trying to see if it's possible.to decorate a 1x3 tile, my first attempt I thought it was through the decoration mapping file, second attempt was today by finding the 1x3 file in the Primitives file, and copied the line for what I believe programs that piecee to have a decorated face in LDD, so paste it in the 1x3 tile file. Didn't work, crashed instead. Made a backup so I'm fine right now. Am I missing something or it's just not possible in LDD? Have any of you guys attempted to do that?

Doing some trees, they're a pain and the smallest, detailed trees I can make, saw someone almost did something similar are thought why not, and need great trees. They're a bit bigger than the actual trees that is placed around the plaza street level, but nothing I could do and rather have them big nice and pretty, give you a sense of what it could also look like when the trees grew bigger if it was standing. Definitely changes the setting, and also a lot of changes before the trees, some building exterior changes, some elevations street level, and building's positions. So doing some experiments with pieces and see what I could do with them for a personal project. came across this, and need to know if this would be alright if it was physically built. the stud and the 2/3 2X2 round plate with stud is kinda overlapping, but LDD still lets me place it there. could anyone try and see if they have that round plate and almost crate it to see if it would work? Ah, thanks. Wasn't planning to because believe something like what you said would happen and I get discredit. Who is "Lepin"? (Sorry I've been seeing some unwanted comments not on here but when I posted the imgur links to the albums with 9/11 puns and jokes. They get old after a while and starting to get a bit ticked off because I see them a lot. Would like to say again that there will NOT be any planes or anything related to 9/11, another reason why I'm making this so so everyone and myself can have a taste what the plaza looks like, and the mall. Hopefully the observations. And what's even better that it's in Lego? Would love to make a bigger scale. Know that some didn't mean to get me ticked off, everybody jokes. Wish instead of that I wish more would pay more attention on the detail and kinda get a taste of what is it like to be there and admire the person who took the time to do so. It's been over a year already. Make sure some of you read a bit of the description before asking questions. Thank you, and sorry.) -

I want to, also going to try and see if I can make 6 facade accurate too. At the moment going to fix it's overall layout, made 3 a bit long and skinny so have to fix that. The Bent Propeller sculpture believe wasn't between the twins, but it was first placed next to 1 on West Street, later moved to the corner of Vessey Street, and Church Street, and again moved to the pedestrian bridge between the plaza, and 7 on Vessey Street. The thing makes me kind of a bit nervious though is trying to make the the Propeller sculpture accurate, and the Ideogram, can do the Cloud Fortress, easy. -

Been a while, got a decent amount of work done, completed the new granite pavement plaza area where the Koenig's sphere is at, more scenery concourse level, more custom decals can be seen from the plaza, the mall, etc. Complete the exterior elevation barriers on Vessey street, remade 4,and 5's exterior. The black rectangular shape attached to 4 between 2 and 4 is a supplementary stair tower added in 95-96 to serve trading room on 8th floor. Note that the plates representing as roads around the plaza are just there for temporary, viewing its elevation and such. A satellite view, and an overall view with the outline of the twins, mall path beneath plaza. Remember though I actually finished my towers, well 95%, had to separate the files because of how much LDD can handle. Will post tomorrow a rendered image I've been trying to render for 12 days. (Excuse me for the amount of photos and updating.) I would be fine if LDD could handle more than 50,000 bricks. Making a huge project and already split the thing I'm working on, (if curious you can go on my profile and click the the latest LDD World Trade Center topic) anyways, it's kinda okay hopefully though If I have to split, because not every thing will be connected to each other, like if you look at my topic the black buildings around the plaza (4, 5, 6) will be removable because I'm making the mall beneath the plaza, and others. Sorry for a bit off topic, Is there one that works almost the same way as LDD too? And could I transfer my custom decals too? Sorry if there's another topic about this.

Sorry for updating a lot >v> finished the facade on four kinda. It's just so nice to look at. To me at least. I'm proud to say though that this is the most accurate recreation of the Twins anyone ever did so far. Great job! Also visited your Lego idea thing too, I'm surprised and disappointed that it didn't reach enough supporters for it to move to the next stage. I really love minimalist modern a lot.

Made sure the elevations is accurate other part's of the plaza which you would rarely see, fortunate to get it very accurate despite the limitations in Lego bricks they provide for me and in reality. try to get every kind detail that is possible on this, added more scenery, not done yet. Need to fix part of the road paths and such. 90% accuracy with the entrance at World Trade Center 4 South, East area. Try to gather as much references I can get, pretty tough to find great photos of them. Manage to fine some somehow to help with its placement and accuracy of the facade or layout. I hope you're enjoying my work and appreciate it as much as I do too. :) Forgot to show what 3 looks like, East side and unfortunately I cannot make the rooftop of 3 accurate. (Would love to know a better way to upload photos besides putting links. it's frustrating that I couldn't attach the link on "Insert image URL" like I used to 6 months ago. This works but would like a better, faster way of doing it) World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&76 by austinhansngo, on Flickr World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&77 by austinhansngo, on Flickr World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&74 by austinhansngo, on Flickr World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&75 by austinhansngo, on Flickr World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&73 by austinhansngo, on Flickr World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&72 by austinhansngo, on Flickr World Trade Center 3,4,5,6,&7 by austinhansngo, on Flickr -
Got back into working on it, made a topic about this 6 months ago, but in the wrong section. Not the greatest builder, I do believe I am pretty creative though, the model I would say is 90% accurate, I actually started this a year ago, took some time off, and also, believe it or not the first time I'm using Lego, I mean I did have Lego sets and played LDD, for fun though. I guess this is fun too, frustration sometimes when I can't find or think of alternative ways to make it look neat. Anyways, I had to split the model into two because it's too big, even though the plaza which I am for a fact going to do the interior (to be more specific, paths and such) of the mall, (please don't mind the messiness around the area. Elevations are close to accurate, such a small scale so it's tough to make details that tiny.) Now the towers, starting to change some bricks into white so it looks nice. need to do the base, but before I can need to work on my plaza and work around where the towers on and such. kept its edges since they're not attached to the towers, helps me with scaling sometimes, when I start on & it would. Tried my best to give you a taste of what the plaza would be like, through Lego. The Plaza at the moment with all the junk around is 16,000 pieces already. And the Twins are 19,000 each. so all together is more than 50,000. There's a pic of The WTC Lego Model (Not by me) most of you must of seen it before, one of the finest ones I've seen in LDD compared to my Twins when I finished them first. Crashed so I took a screenshot. Don't know how to do thumbnail on here so you guys have a comfortable scrolling and opening I'm assuming that what it does and is. Hopefully you will have access to the imgur links below. ^^^ Wow, that's amazing. Is it like Ldd? Is it more complicated? And I can't find that dang piece on top of the shpere anywhere.it's like it's not there anymore. -

zeronthegreat replied to zeronthegreat's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I split them up, dang, the plaza now is 12,000 pieces now. Took me a while it keep crashing a lot. Accidently deleted the sphere so have to do it again, anyway, part of the tower is still there, thank God the corners of the towers aren't attached, keeping the corners for now until I complete 7. The twins itself is more than 38,000 bricks. -
