I would love to play but I do not have a ship :( The only pirate thing I build till now is my Admirals Barge, I cloud fill it with swords and guns and weigh it ;) but I think it wouldn't be a fair mach against any other moc ship on here. I think I have to agree with cb4's last post about the weight, if you brick build your full hull or use hull parts for your waterline moc is quite a difference in weight, wile it can be the same type of ship. but I think it's better for me to leave this weight discussion to the people who have more knowledge about it ;) Bart Edition; just to see what happens I entered the particulars of my barge in the Excel sheet and I think there is an error in it. LAO = 24 std => 22,5 ft BAO = 7 std => 6,6 ft weight = 0,3 kg => 22,8 tons the length and beam are correct but the weight !?! out of experience I know a barge like this weighs more like 2 tons. and the weight gives my barge a draft of 13 ft.! so only the mast tip is above the whater level. if I manipulate the weight to 2 tons it comes to 1,2 ft that seems more correct. my sprit sail gives it a speed of about 4 knots in both weights and that seems correct to me, then I come to the next part, what about the oars? out of personal experience I know that you can reach a cruising speed of 5 knots and up to 7 in a Sprint. Depending on the wind and waves and current this got influenced of course Bart

I think it looks good, I love the fact you made the hull look dirty, stained and the algae growing on it :D and all the other uses of colour just make it come alive, (the bird's poop is hilarious) nice use of detail too on and under decks Bart

to be honest I had never heard of the 'Dutch Red lancers' before but after some googleing for comparison click I think they really look great, indeed nice horse blanket, but I also like the roll behind the saddle at first I was 'how did he do that?' but then I spotted a piece of string Bart

Nice army, and those are the first custom Epaulettes I have seen :D Bart

Somehow I'm not bothered with the frames sticking out of the deck, it gives the ship a certain style, but maybe you could smooth-en the inside of the hull a bit, the parts that stick up above the weather deck. And I agree with admiral croissant the wheels of the gun's would probably look better in brown or not Tan. for the rest, keep it going Bart

Looking good! I really like that everything seems to curve, including the gun ports Bart

Horry asked, I answered (1) looks good enough, as long its fun to play (2) - (3) I think you should have your broadside facing the other ship before you can fire the broadside (4) It looks good to me (5) To much different groups will make it too complicated I think (6) Sounds good (7) Yes good idea the crowsnest or like you have a visibility range around your ship, which gets bigger with a crowsnest (like the rest is in a fog)

just a question about the beta test; where does the wind come from ? Bart

that 'guard rail' is called a 'fife rails' that is when its situated on deck like in that picture when its connected to the bulwark i.e. the ships side its called a 'pin rail' so far the showing-of of my nautical vocabulary I think your ship looks good, it looks like you know what you want. I'm looking forward to see it develop. Bart

:D :D I want to play this game ! but first I'll have to build a ship... I.e. buy the appropriate bricks just wondering any extra points for bow or stern chasers ? -like being able to shoot upon another ship while you are behind or in front of it instead of alongside Bart
-
looking good :D love the fact that you place the wheel below decks. One tiny thing, If that cannon recoils your cabinet is blown to smithereens. Bart

I just watched the video, didn't have the opportunity before. and I really love the unintended wave effect of the blue sheet at the end where you rotate the ship, with some imagination it looks like water :D Bart
-
wow, looking good and very Dutch Golden Age :D Bart

I understand why people are disappointed, I also expected a bit 'more'. But then I thought this would probably the first ship affordable for me, after I re-discovered Lego. I've only seen the Imperial Flag Ship and the Queen Anne Revenge. both astonishing but very expansive for a student. If I got the change I will get one, :D Bart

Looking good, just an Idea about that corner I got the feeling that the corner (red arrow) is sticking out to much, Maybe you can angle the blue square area independent from the rest (green) so you can make that a bit steeper then the green part, I got the feeling that will look better I.e. pushing the corner (red arrow) inwards Good luck Bart

I want those bluecoats ! Bart -
If we start to care about the darkness of the colours then the end is lost, your imagination is the limit with Lego, what you want it to be it is! I don't know if the US copied it, maybe, but I'm not an Historicus. Bart

It's an opinion and a joke ;) and Dutch marines used blue uniforms Click ME and everybody can have his own idea about it, I only own a few redcoats and I use them as Marines and the one bluecoat I have is an naval officer Bart
