[REVIEW] 8275 Bulldozer
Siegfried replied to Ickelpete's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh my wordy yes. *sing* *sing* *sing* *sing* Oh Oh Oh baby yeah! I'm halfway through assembling mine and I have been having a great time playing with it. This is a great set. Everyone must buy one. Sell your soul if neccesary, perhaps even your bucket, but get this you must! *wub* Oh Oh yeah oh oh more yeah oh baby yeah! ...and I thought it was just me. Thanks! -
:-D :-D :-D Don't have the right? You don't exist! We can, and will, do what ever we want with you!
-
If you used the pre-fab stairs yes, but a more realistic and practical design would be a vertical one.
-
I got the Bulldozer! *wub* Don't expect to see me for a while! *sweet*
-
I'm here!
-
*whispers* I doubt it. As for a sextant.... :-D
-
But there is no point; even if we were headed for a giant cyclone there would be nothing that we could do. Besides, we must be carrying a portable GPS so that will tell us where we are in an instant! Additionally... ...there are more important things at hand. *sweet* Now talk. I warn you, both of my boots have been polished. >:-(

1. Radars have automatic alarms for these things. 2. We have no power. No power, no Radar 2. We are dead in the water. What could we do anyway? The Capt'n asked to be scared, I'm just following orders.
-
No one. The engine is still dead... :'-(
-
Sure; there's the one on top, forward of the stack. How's this?
-
I like the design of the turret, and aside from shortening the barrel there isn't much you can change. I also think that you shouldn't embed it. Since you want it big you probably should just ignore me and see how it looks on the final model. I don't mind short barrels as I see them as only the output of a weapon, not the whole thing. Even with todays ships the guns go down two or three decks. But it comes down to personal style; I probably wouldn't do a manned turret either so maybe my opinion is worthless in this case. :-P If I was to do a ship with five main guns I would put them three on center line, and the other two on the lower sides so they could cover most of the bottom arc. I like that idea. *sweet*

What do you find more scary Capt'n; a guy that hates you and wants you dead, or a guy that has been paid 5 million dollars to take you out?
-
You think so? I've always found casual professionalism more scary than rough aggression.
-
Where are the other turrets going to go? If they are going to be close (within about 20 studs) then I say yes it is probably too big. Are there going to be any guns on the bottom?
-
Sorry Capt'n, I was a bit slow as I wanted to polish my boots. :-$ Ya know, first impressions and all that. You can't go kicking someone with a dirty boot. It just isn't right for a sailor to do that. But yeah, he's strung up good now and swinging nicely.... and my boots are ready to fire on your command Capt'n. :'-)
-
I was thinking they would have a load on them all the time. Your probably right; there should be enough friction. 8-| I think I will stop bothering you now. :-$
-
Don't ye worry, Capt'n. I'll string him up good... by his feet! It's shouldn't kill him, although kicks to the head from my steel capped boots might! :-D :-D :-D
-
Nice render. I'm glad you decided on the yellow. When can you make it?
-
Aye Aye Capt'n. With pleasure! *sweet*
-
I know what you mean. That would be much better, but far harder too! How do you plan to lock it in place? I suppose a worm gear would do it. 8-| Perhaps I should just wait until you have done it.... :-$
-
My pleasure! I have no problem being someones "female canine"... :-D Well, you probably have seen the slide-down-the-handrails trick on those wonderful 60 degree stairs in movies. While it was not encouraged, it is very easy to do (the hard part is stopping!), and you can get down very fast. Up isn't that hard either but your legs hurt a lot for the first few days at sea. Thus I think stairs are faster. They also work with no power. Not much choice there! :-P That's relatively easy to do anyway if you are prepared to have that consist of just a floor and "cables". I'm actually considering doing something similar in my improved Staunch...

To be honest, I doubt I would go that far. :-$ I would be happy with just some form of access. Besides, in my experience, modern warships don't have crew elevators. Cargo elevators for ships with around 200 crew, yes, but the crew are expected to walk. :-| I don't even think the US Nimitz class have crew elevators... 8-| Thus I don't see elevators required for a ship of under 100. I served on ships of over 300 (with 60 crew members sleeping in one room :-X ) and stairs really weren't a problem. Back to Lego, I have built elevators before for buildings (years ago so no photos :'-( ) and I found that weight wasn't enough to make them move down, I found you needed a full loop of string attached to the top and bottom to ensure they didn't jam up. But I am not really sure what you have in mind so this may not be your problem.

Now I want to see that! Sorry, I missed this post but I will be sure to keep track of it. *sweet* Do you have most of the pieces yet? I have one of those too. I will be giving it a test run tonight. 8-
