Yes. Like I said, you can always find connections if you look. I'm willing to bet I could find a species of bug that has a name similar to "Bohrok". There's just a lot of stuff out there; do you honestly believe that Greg looked up specific species of bat to find names, or he just chose the ones that seemed appropriate? I don't think he's that meticulous on the names. Double Post for win.

The idea is to underly each Makuta/Toa set with a seperate base color. For the Makuta, it's black. Unfortunately for the Nuva, it is grey.
-
Thread-bare connections and coincidences sure do proof your point, yup.

It's not slang for anything. Do you honestly take urbandictionary seriously? Lol.

Am I the only one who thinks Gali's mask looks just like Jaller's Calix in blue? I don't think I will be spending much money on Bionicle this year.
-
Isn't that kind of an oxymoron? :P
-
Two things: That shield on Kopaka looks pathetic. I appreciate that you're trying to call back to the original, but seriously, at least use Kopaka Nuva's. The arms seem disproportionately skinny. Need some sort of bulk. I do like Pohatu, but I can't see his hands very well, so not sure what you did there.

Holy crap. Take out your Takadox head piece. He's right You sir, are a genius.

You mean....a UFO??? Onua with a pet flying saucer. I dig it. Actually, I do see it now. How odd. I wonder what it is. Not his launcher...I'm sure it's just attached to his shoulder, it's hard to make stuff float when they're made of plastic.

The Barraki and Mahri will always win in terms of pure originality amongst canister sets. They had the distinct advantage of not being forced to be "like it or hate it" choices like clone sets, because even if one was absolutely terrible, there was always at least one that you could really enjoy and you thought was awesome.

Problem with your argument is that the Nuva have still been used on multitudes of promotional material, including several official books, the comics, and images in the Lego Magazine very recently, and so it doesn't matter how young the kids are, they know pretty well what the Toa look like.

Bland color choices, a mask that has no relation to the previous incarnation, a weapon that makes no logical sense in any way in relation to previous weapons, or for the character in general, poor posing, ridiculous overrepresentation of the projectile weapon.... But seriously, no fan of Bionicle would ever look at that picture and say "Hmm, yeah, that could be Tahu." Lewa still had a mask with aerodynamic aspects and a sword, like his Nuva form. Kopaka still had an eye scope, the same color scheme, and a bayonet that could work as a small version of his sword. Pohatu still had claws and a stunted body as well as a mask that was very similiar to his Nuva form, with the top removed. Now, they were still pretty radical redesigns, but it wasn't too hard to see relations between the sets. Now on Tahu, the relation is quite literally that they are both red, and even in that case, they are different shades. Changing the entire look of small McDonald's characters is one thing, but taking the characters who have quite literally stood as representations for the series for seven years, telling the designers that they are in fact redesigning these classic characters, and still coming out with something that looks like it could have been any Toa except the one it is supposed to is just mystifying. It's not that he is even a bad design. A Ninja Toa is not at all a bad idea, and the Ninja Star might be pretty creative as a weapon. The mask looks great. It just looks nothing like a Hau. As a character, this set fails on every level. So should we be happy that Lego is pandering to the people who don't follow the story at all? Why would that be a good thing for any fan who has any serious interest in the line? If it can be proven to them that no matter what they do in story the sets will sell, they're not going to try very hard to keep it around, and soon the Comics will be gone, the books will disappear, and Farshtey will be out of our lives forever. We'll get a blurb on the Lego website about how they must defeat an evil that has appeared, and pretty soon we'll have Throwbots all over again. There is a logical fallacy here, but I don't think all of it is complete exaggeration. And yes, I seem to have inadvertently double posted.

And the entire Lego Magazine concept isn't? It's a good concept, but it's still pretty underhanded if you look at it from a non-fan perspective.
-
Personally I don't think it would be such a bad thing if Gali could look like her Block counterpart for once. Feminine sets aren't a bad thing.
-
Look, I just have a problem with such a radical redesign of the one mask that has represented the line since the very beginning. Silly me.

Why do you -want- me to stop liking Bionicle Lego? Seriously. Your designers KNEW these were the Nuva! they KNEW that every fan knows exactly how the Nuva look, no matter how stupid the fanbase may be. Why would they put no resemblance at all to the character whose design has stood as the very definition of what Bionicle is for the past seven years???? Lhikan can pull of a newly designed Hau, why can Tahu Ninja not? :( I am not happy anymore.

I think it may be due to the "Podcast" delivery of the show itself...I've never liked it, and I try to read transcripts instead. However, since he's written what is basically a paragraph in this story so far, I dunno that it's fair to judge yet. I do wish it had been written though, the podcasts are always woefully short.

It's because I'm just hilarious Grevious, that's all.
-
You know what? They're all gonna kill the snit out of you anyway, why does it have to be more impressive than the other?
-
Well, when you find out you're gonna go nuts, I'll say that much.

So, MN dies, everyone's like "OH CRAP." Matoro and the Toa are chasinz after the Mask of Life, which is now being drained towards the Universe Core through the hole Voya-Nui made when it came shootinz up originally. Matoro's goin faster then everyone else, so the other Toa turn around and face the Barrakiz who am followin them. Matoro falls down the hole. This is a -long- fall. Voya-Nui goes back to where it's supposed to right over his head, and now he falls into the actual Universe Core.He sees a Makuta, doesn't see the ground. Some voice says "Dude, put on mask" He goes "duh", puts it on, becomes energy, deus ex machina's MN's megablocks back to life by sacrificing his own, and the Mask of Life falls into the Universe Core AKA Karda Nui (our 2008 environment.) With his last act Matoro uses more Deus Ex Machina to transport the other Toa Mahri to Metru-Nui and make them breathe air, right before they're about to go nova and sacrifice themselves to fight Barraki. So in the meantime, the Toa Nuva learn a lot of stuff, go to Artakha to get new armor, and are transported to the Universe Core to remove the Makuta who are there now and maybe finally wake up Mata-Nui. And that's what happened.

I've got friends in the toy department, I need to ask them if Wal-Mart sucks at shipping or if they're idiots at restocking, because I know the Phantoka are in my area everywhere except my Wal-Mart. There, we get the Megablocks pushed right next to the Lego. I was sickened... So I rearranged it so it was all hidden. I love doing that so much.
-
I'd assume they would be cold enough to just kill everyone outright. Enough to at least make everyone's outer armor crack and leak the juicy insides out.
-
Yeah man, I told you Bionicle's customized pieces ain't good for nothing. Stupid Bionicle :O (I love it, it's amazing, thank you for again proving that Bionicle really is just the ultimate gateway for the truly creative)

It's kind of funny though, when we looked you had Eurobricks in your profile. Way to lay low :P Maybe though, the idea behind it shouldn't be lost. There was a great summary farther up. We don't do it cuz we are mad forum hatinz dudez....it's cuz Lego aksed us not to. And we don't want our little kiddies going to the forum where they're gonna get cussed out if they're dumb about something. Not that BZP is good about being kid friendly all the time, but you get the point.
