It is not my biggest :) it is the same lenght as the fairplay/Tyr Viking and the Grampian Defiance will be just as long. Thanks Yes they changed her a lot. She was for sale but I think I read somewhere she has been scrapped recently. That is easy: I used a piece of thin lego wire, pulled it through the goggle and into the open stud of the round brick 1x1. I then pushed a lightsaber blade into the round brick, so that the wire got stuck and put tension on the wire just by pulling it just to get the goggle to sit firmly on top of the round brick. Hope I made myself clear.

Hello everyone, This is my latest moc. A 125 cm long model of a dutch coaster named Fiona. I designed it in LDraw about 5 months ago, It took me about 1,5 months. Getting all the bricks together took me a lilte bit longer. So I was able to finish it last week. The building it self took only 2 weeks. there are apr. 7000 bricks in this ship. This was my example: And this is what I made of it in LEGO: Coaster Fiona by Konajra, on Flickr Coaster Fiona by Konajra, on Flickr Coaster Fiona by Konajra, on Flickr Coaster Fiona by Konajra, on Flickr More photos over at flickr. thanks for reading.

MOC: Tyr Viking, a LEGO Anchor Handling Tug
Konajra replied to Konajra's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the frontpage and the kind comments. This ship is more or less identical to the Blue and white FAIRPLAY-33 that I build for fairplay towage. Designing that ship in Ldraw took me about 165 hours. The actual building time: I have no idea. For the FAIRPLAY-33 I recieved the General Arangement plans. I also used a lot of photos of the FAIRPLAY. The Tyr Viking is a non-existing ship so there were no photos to use, but since its a copy that was of course not a problem. -
Hi all, This is my latest build. It is a sister vessel of FAIRPLAY-33 I build back in october/november 2012. The FAIRPLAY was a comissioned build and is now displayed at the office of Fairplay-towage in Hamburg. As a thank you for building the tug I received the bricks to build my own version. I decided to build it in the livery of Viking Supply ships AS. Copenhagen. So I'm more or less my own copycat . The numbers for this ship are the same as the FAIRPLAY-33. about 20.000 bricks 125 cm long, 35 cm wide and 73 cm tall. It is a lilte more detailed then the Fairplay and has a winch on the superstructure that has been removed of the FAIRPLAY. I also used PF to make the winches work, so now I can do some real anchor handling. :) Next modification will be the installation of towing pins at the stern. The technique for that comes from Barman76 (on Flickr) here are some photos and the video: Tyr Viking (LEGO sistervessel of the FAIRPLAY-33) by Konajra, on Flickr Tyr Viking (LEGO sistervessel of the FAIRPLAY-33) by Konajra, on Flickr Tyr Viking (LEGO sistervessel of the FAIRPLAY-33) by Konajra, on Flickr Tyr Viking (LEGO sistervessel of the FAIRPLAY-33) by Konajra, on Flickr Tyr Viking (LEGO sistervessel of the FAIRPLAY-33) by Konajra, on Flickr Thanks for reading this post.

Thanks, it may look fragile but it is not. you can pick up the front or reare half of the ship. walk outside into the garden spin it around and take photo, without parts falling off. The person at FAIRPLAY who gets it is also LEGO minded so there will not be a problem I guess. I did not glue anything. At this moment I have 6 ship ready, who will all be at FanWelt next week Well I was just happy that I had it finished in time and was able to take photos on the only day of the week I ahd a day off. And the photos speak for them self....

@ LegoJalex: I don't know exactly how many, I think somewhere between 18.000 and 20.000 bricks. And thanks to everyone for the compliments!

Hello All, I would like to show my latest model: a 1:40 scale model of the FAIRPLAY-33 from Fairplay Towage based in Hamburg, Germany. The model is 125cm long 35 cm wide and 73 cm high. I have used about 20.000 bricks. I started designing the model in Ldraw which took me about 165 hours. When the bricks came in it took me about 90 hours to build it. The model is build for Fairplay towage and will be displayed at their office in Hamburg, but first it will be displayed at FanWelt in Cologne from 22-25 november 2012. Comments and critics are welcome.

Thank you, Kristel.

@ Lego Guy Bri: Unfortunately I may not keep it. After I have showed it at LEGO FanWelt Cologne, Germany it goes to Fairplay Towage in Hamburg. since this is a commisioned build. I will however get the bricks for my yellow/black version of this ship the Týr Viking. All I have to do is to explain to my wife I really need to build that ship. :)
-
Nice building, with an even better interior. I really like the colors you have chosen.
-
Thanks gentlemen. @ Henrik Hoexbroe: Is my hull still to pixalated or am I learning how to do it :)
-
The ship is almost finished. just some missing pieces and some details to add. Like blue handrails and finish the mast etc. FAIRPLAY WIP 5 by Konajra, on Flickr

Next update: Almost completed the hull. I hope to close the hull next week. after that it is a matter of waiting for the last missing bricks, so that I can continue work on the wheelhouse and the cabledrum housing at the rear deck. FAIRPLAY WIP by Konajra, on Flickr

I have started building the hull: FAIRPLAY-33 WIP by Konajra, on Flickr FAIRPLAY WIP 1 by Konajra, on Flickr FAIRPLAY WIP 2 by Konajra, on Flickr At the moment I,m working on the bow. Expect an update soon.

Thanks for the compliments. Luckily all my yellow is more or less the same shade of yellow. After editing the photo it all looks like the same yellow. Finally the battery: I got some questions about the size of the tug, so I thought I just put a well known battery for size comparison :)
-
Great cars, as always. Thanks for sharing your building technique. I still have a lot to learn.
-
some bricks came in so I was able to build a part of the internal structure of the hull of the FAIRPLAY-33. for the looks I placed the wheelhouse of my yellow version on top of it. Týr Viking Wip by Konajra, on Flickr hopefully the rest of the bricks will arrive soon.
-
I have finished the superstructure of the Týr Viking. Týr Viking wheelhouse by Konajra, on Flickr Týr Viking wheelhouse by Konajra, on Flickr' I'm very happy with how it looks. Now its a matter of waitng again untill the bricks for this ship arrive. I hope that the bricks for the FAIRPLAY-33 arrive by the end of september. In that case I have about 1½ month to build the 33 to be able to show it at LEGO FANWELT in Cologne, Germany. Fingers crossed.
-
It will be 123 cm long 35 cm wide and a total of 70 cm high. and thanks everyone for the nice comments. @Henrik Hoexbroe: I think this hull is better looking than the others. I quess we will have to wait untill it is finished to find out for real.
-
I know my ships are getting a bit boring. Still, i like building them
-
That technique is used very often by 1:13 scale truck builders for exhaust pipes.
-
I am building one for myself but since the FAIRPLAY-33 is a commisioned build I was asked to build my own tug in a different color. That way the FAIRPLAY-33 will be the only one build. I decided to build my ship in the colors of Viking Supply vessels AS. this is what it will look like: Týr Viking by Konajra, on Flickr Týr Viking by Konajra, on Flickr I named it Týr Viking, after a Norwegian God. All vessels of VIking Supply are named after Norwegian Gods. For once I started with the wheelhouse, since I had allot of bricks in stock: Týr Viking Wip by Konajra, on Flickr Týr Viking Wip 2 by Konajra, on Flickr The rest of the bricks needed for this tug will come in after I have build the FAIRPLAY-33.
-
Me neither, but I think collecting all the bricks will take a lot of time. Once I start building I will post photos immediatly.
-
Thanks guys. Today I finished the Ldraw file of this tug. Now it is waiting for the bricks to come in. A lot of them. around 25 Kg of Lego will arrive which has to be enough to build this model. 2 screenshots of the finished model: FAIRPLAY-33 ldraw finished 2 by Konajra, on Flickr FAIRPLAY-33 ldraw finished 1 by Konajra, on Flickr Thanks for reading this thread. More will follow once I start building for real.
