  1. I meant that I heard that more info about MBA will be revealed in the March/april issue. On the lego site, I found this when I entered a code on lego: "ATTENTION ALL LEGO® BUILDERS! In 2011, the LEGO Club is launching an all-new program dedicated to making YOU an even better LEGO builder than ever before! By joining the LEGO Master Builder Academy (MBA for short), you’ll be able to find out the secret tips and building techniques of the real LEGO Master Builders who create the official LEGO sets and super-models. LEGO MBA members will receive special designer handbooks in the mail that include behind-the-scenes information and inspiration straight from the Master Builders, all-new model building instructions, and (of course!) the bricks you’ll need to build them. Each kit and handbook spotlight a fan-favorite LEGO building theme, including spaceships, robots, cars, planes, creatures and more! The LEGO Master Builders will show you how to go beyond the instructions in designing and building your own original LEGO creations. You’ll also be able to improve your building skills and creativity as you advance through skill levels on the all-new LEGO Master Builder Academy website. And did we mention the exclusive collectible LEGO MBA Minifigures, color-coded to your latest building level and complete with buildable accessories for each themed handbook? The LEGO Master Builder Academy is launching in 2011. Look for more information coming soon in the March-April issue of LEGO Club Magazine!" Check the last line. That was what i'm talking about.
  2. She's not a builder but she does like watching me build sets sometimes. However, she does see the price as ridicilous. I'm hoping more for sure will be known during the march/april Lego club magizine shipment. I really want to join back up esp since this membership looks more into sets of a certain object then themes. The reason why I quit brickmaster after 2 years was b/c the 2nd year i was in it had mostly star wars/bionacle.
  3. It doesn't make sense to me. I know they USED to package the 3-in-1's where the plastic bag would be inside the container, and it makes way more sense. It seems like the bags would minimize the chance of pieces accidently bouncing out of the container during packaging. Plus it seems just like a huge headache for the stores when the container pops open and little pieces begin bouncing around. I actually had a time where the containter opened on me when I was taking a closer look at the item. I was just handling the container normally.
  4. ......... I don't get it. I got lego set 6742: Mini off-roader(a set barely more then a year old) and i'm pretty sure that in a bag. And both of the little farmer sets i got(Farmer, dog, feeder thing, and pig) were in bags, and a couple smaller sets I got from the lego store were in bags.
  5. *strolls in confused* I went to open a creater 3-in-1 set mom got me for christmas and it wasn't in a bag. Just loose pieces. I checked all the sets and none were in a bag. Sets are lego set 8194 racer, lego set 5864 Mini copter, and set 5865 mini Dumper. All sets were bought MISB from the store and there's no label tampering. When I opened them a few minutes ago, this was the first time the boxes were opened. Is this a new policy from lego or something? I really wanted to try the bag challenge
  6. I'm a female builder and even though I am a tomgirl, I really would like some pink bricks in my collection. The only ones that I really have in my collection that are pink are some 1X2 brick slopes that I picked up at the lego store on vacation. As far as female minifigures, i'd be nice to see more in sets. Except for that new minifigure community set that was reviewed recently and i guess the lego collectable series as a whole(and that's pushing it), the lego sets are void of Females. The majority I have in my collection are either from a licensed theme(HP and IJ) or custom made from lego PAB. Yea, I know that there are tubs, but I don't really want either. The tubs are famous for not having many lego in them. I need more then a tiny amount. And I just checked. The PPP for the little tub is about 15 Cents and the big one, 14. Isn't the ideal PPP range something like 7-10 cents?
  7. Well, the poll is would u pay 100 bucks for it. Why they're saying "1000 bricks for $100" is arguing that it is a "Good deal" b/c it works out to a dime a brick. I see it as a lousy deal. The price is 2.5 time higher then brickmaster. I'd rather have a low, afforadable price for a yearly lego subscription.
  8. eh, still seems like a rip off on the price. yea 10 per piece is a good bargin, but some on Lego.com see a truthfully great price to be 7 or 8 cents per piece. And if it is $100 dollars, it still sounds like a rip-off. Who knows what the tips could be. Yea, maybe it'll be good tips but what if it's just nothing more then tips you can get for FREE of the net or if it's nothing but common knowledge? Even my mother sees this price is a being a rip-off.
  9. *walks in w/ DSi XL* yea, but isn't 2 installments of 50 bucks each still 100 dollars? No matter how you slice it, a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks.
  10. *looks around for DS* There wasn't that many pieces or hints, but at least it was a reasonable price. 100 bucks is to much to spend for MBA. Brickmaster was about 6.66 for each delivery. if 100 is the price, that's about 16.66 per deliver. That's 2.5 times more compared to the old. And now i'm off to find out where my DSi XL walked off to.
  11. 100 freaking bucks for a year?????????? Is this for sure or unknown? If it's for sure, there's no way i'm paying that much. That's more then double the cost of Brickmaster. unless i'm mistaken, the Brickmaster subscription was only about 40 bucks. To me, Brickmaster was nearly perfect but it just needed 2 small corrections. 1) worldwide would be nice. I live in the us, but there are a bunch of people on the Lego site that want it outside of the us and 2) I do believe that there really should of been some sort of option to choose from a list the themes you like and you'd get sent from the list. I am not interested in star wars or bionacle but that was what i got mostly the second year I had the subscription. Well, i should say second and last year due to issues with sets.
  12. unless your not the type to lie, just say it's a sealed box missing the bag. Though b4 you call, i need to give you a couple words of advice: 1) make sure you have a bit of time to wait if you wind up getting on the waiting for a person music playing case. That happened to me a few weeks ago. i was on for at least 20 minutes(mostly waiting) to find out the page count in a lego brick journal and 2) make sure you have the box near by or at least the item number so you can minimize the time your on the line.
  13. I think special colored basis MIGHT work if the price isn't affected. It would be a cool idea to have a way to show that the figures come in series and not just one big release event.
  14. Sounds like Lego is just trying to make a bigger profit of the figs. Not only are they choosing cheap plastic and jack the price up on series 3 up a buck from the last ones, but now they're phasing out the id dots and possibly even mucking with how the dots are set. I did get some of the series 3 and 2, but if it wouldn't be for the fact that i really like some, i would be ignoring the figs. Out of the ones i really would want in series 4, i'm planning on only going for 3 of them on eBay. They are impossible for me to find in stores around here. The closet borders(A place on ACC said to have some) is at least a 2 or 3 hour drive from us(we've only traveled that way about 1 time in the last year), nearest toys r us is an hour away and we don't really do there that much(only about 2 or 3 times in the last year and that was only due to looking for gifts that we were not able to find elsewhere) and the nearest Lego store is at least a 5-6 hour trip from us(we only get that direction every year and a half or so).
  15. PERFECT! Also, one other quick question. Any idea how to get everything back down to ground level in the game? Nearly everything it hovering in the air -_-
  16. the description for it is "Part#: 4624 Name: RIM NARROW W. HOLE (O with a diagonial line through it)8 Color: 194 - medium Stone grey" I tried finding the axles that are commonly seen on a lot of smaller cars but I don't see it. is there a search I can try? HELP!!!!
  17. I don't recommend it. I heard that it can warp bricks a tiny bit over time and cause problems. I saw that first hand in some 1X2 bricks. I left some in the kinda triangle shape formation after i was done with them and I noticed that after not long, the clutching power was getting worse. I went from being able to make a wall w/o bottom support 2 bricks high(yes, i used overlapping building for all pieces) and I wasn't able to have it stay together well anymore and I had to make it 3 bricks high for proper support.
  18. I don't really have much of a ritual. I just need clean hands and a spot to assemble the set in. As far as the bags? If they're numbered, I open the bags one at a time as i'm building. If it's just one bag, i'll poor everything into a pile. I'm not really into sorting out stuff past rims/tires and minifigures/accessories. If it's 2 or more bags I'll either pour them out into seperate piles or just open the bag a little and take the pieces out.
  19. Probably has to do something with lego choosing to have the figures created in china. Quality is poorer then the other minifigs in my collection. Yea, over the past couple days, i've picked some off ebay, but I've been after some of them. For series 4, i'm only after 3. I wouldn't be suprised if the bad printing went right along with Lego taking the Made in China route. As far if i've experienced this? I've noticed the hand movement and leg issues and poor quality on the ones I got, but i only have the pilot, gorilla suit man, and tennis gal. However, I did note that that something doesn't feel quite right about the banana that came w/ monkey boy. I really don't know what it is b/c a side by side comparasion w/ the only other banana in my collection, they were the same but there's something haunting me about the quality of gorilla guy's banana... EDIT: had to correct spelling of "series" and had to correct "I'm only after 4" to the proper number of 3.
  20. I'm probably not gonna Get the rapper or fisher for a while, but I did get the baseball player, snowboarder, ailien, and racer in an eBay auction tonight. i'm planning on tracking down the werewolf, artist, and surfer girl from series four. I was thinking about looking for more but between the price gougers on eBay and the fact that the figs are made of chinese plastic and the quality isn't very good as a result, i've decided to not hunt for as many. I am really interested in the Gnome, rock star, and nearly every single one else, but unless I score a "Pick 5 figures" deal or a lot deal w/ those in it, i doubt i'll get many past the few I really want. I'm hoping that after series 5, lego will either get their act straight and choose better quality material for the rest of the series or stop after 5. I don't know about ya'll, but i'd rather pay a couple extra(within a reasonable amount) and get better quality figures then ones that will be stored in the top drawer of my cart and probably not will be mixed in w/ my collection for a while(or if ever) Though b4 I forget, i need to sort out some pieces from a small container on top of the cart so I have storage space for the series 3 accessories. At this time, i'm not going to try to hunt series 1 that i'm after(wrestling stud and a couple others) and i'm beginning to casually hunt for one out of series 2(not saying which for the sake of ebay hunting)
  21. Could be a marketing ploy to jack up the price on sets. Extra printing/pieces and they can raise the price
  22. They ARE harder to put together. I went to put them together. First attempt and I set them down. There was a gap between the torso and legs. Even though I used the same amount of gentle force that i normally would use to assemble the other types of figures(including the crew of 4 I got from the lego PAB store) for the first try, there was a gap that I see happen almost never with normal figures. The instances I had of stubborn assembling is a miniscule amount. I'm not sure of how many I have exactly but I have at least i'd say an easy few dozen(I should take inventory soon) and I can only think of a couple cases(not counting the series 3) of diffculty assembling pieces.
  23. I don't really use a steady method of sorting. I kept trying one method and just kept using new ones. My collection is laid out pretty much like this: I have a 39 drawer hardware organizer. Drawers are mostly organized by piece type though I do have general catagorys(slopes, little lego drawers, lego dinings, big animals, little animals, misc unsorted, misc unsorted 2, and a few others) Then I do have a new 18 drawer set I got at lowes. Currently still wrapped in packaging. I'm hoping to get it up in the next couple days to move some lego vehicle parts into them. Then I have a few things in my curio cabnet. I have the lego IJ temple set, a Coast guard chopper and a dig them dinosaurs oversized minifig(about 5 or 6 inches tall) I scooped up from ebay. Then I have some more containers. One has house stuff in it and some more sloped pieces. Another has wheels in it for now, the pieces will be moved to the new hardware organizer except for a Lego IJ vehicle which will move to a differnt drawer system. That box will possibly remain empty for now. Then another has various plates in it. I also have a larger tub(i think something like a 3 or 4 gallon capacity) that holds misc bricks and plates. Another fishing box(about 1ftX1ftX4inces) holds more misc. I also have a small bag of misc pieces in another drawer. And I have a 2-3 quart(I think) container with a lot of the pieces I got from the lego store PAB wall, the gas station from a different set, and a little tractor from yet another set. Now for my main storage unit. It's a new 10 drawer roller cart I got as a late christmas gift. On the top is the little lego house that I built from the lego club JR magizine. I am planning on taking it apart some time b/c so of the parts, I don't have many of. Then I have a lego HP board game that I got for christmas. I don't have to time for it at this time so it's just a dust magnet atm(still in packaging). And I have a 2.4 quart sterelite container(lid is MIA) that has some stray lego pieces in it. I did clean it up monday by putting some pieces in a different container, but there's still some stray pieces in it. I also have a lego cup(large) with misc stuff in it(minifigure, animal, brick, and some other stuff). I crocheted a simple chain and I used it as a tie looped through the handle around the handle on top of the cart to keep it from falling from the cart. If it does, it'll be a bungee cord! I also have a sterelite(about 6 quart capacity I think) with a misc bricks, a minifig or two, smaller container with small misc pieces, some plates and I think a few small pieces loose in the bigger section. I have the top drawer with a yet to be assembled farmer set, pod w/ small misc pieces, and 3 mystery minifigs series 3(pilot, gorilla, and tennis gal) I would probably have more, but I have an uncle john bathroom reader, GB/GBA games, 3 squinky set(bride, seashell, and shopping), and a GBA SP in that drawer too. Another drawer has a small box usually used to hold beads in. I love it b/c I have a space for lego food, lego money/jewels, misc, little bits, etc and i'm able to keep track of the bits way better now. Same drawer has a sterelite with some bricks, people, few dogs, a piggie, two cars, trees and a few other bits. Next drawer down houses a sterelite with most of the lego advent 2010, another bead box that was empty until time morning. I used the big section to move my lego animal section(owls, baby dinos, frogs and a fishy) to have more room. The section in the other box that housed the animals is now now empty for now., and a 16x16 plate with the addition to the lego house I made. it has 2 walls and I used it as a living room. Assembled atm. Not sure about future plans with it. Next drawer has a container of misc stuff. Bricks, I think a plane bottom, some tumbled stones from the flea market, etc next drawer has 4 of the lego 6 buck sets. One racer, a Helicopter 3 in 1, off roader 3 in one, and a dumper 3 in 1. only the off roader is opened at this time. Last drawer occupied by lego has misc pieces, some stuff from x-pods, lego truck from an IJ set, and the camper set(fell apart on me -_-). I did reassemble to Camper, but I had to pull a different colored door from my hardware organizer b/c I can't locate to orginal white door at this time. I also had to get a 2X3 plate to act as reinforcement for the front tires b/c I don't know what happened to the orginal part. I also have a few X-pods and a small handful of bricks/plates/angled that were dirty and I dryed between paper towel layers and used q-tips to dry the crevices. They are now in the drawer that has the misc pieces, xpod, lego truck, and camper set. I had an order of lego Pick a brick come in this past monday. The minifigures are assembled and waiting for me to decide how to store them(for now, they're resting in the top drawer of my cart), the plates are in one section of my lego bead organizer for now, the 2X4 plates in a different section, unprinted heads with the other stray minifigure hats, the round 2X2's I got are now in the empty section the animals were in, and the sabers are in the minifigure accessory area If i have an inconsistentcy's with my organization story as I go on, please let me know and I can correct it. I've written and edited this statement over a few days on a text document for a couple reasons. First, I was in the middle of waiting for my lego pab order to come in so I figured I'd wait for that to come in and be able to get that included in my organizing. And second, I knew I was going to have to move the animal section to the large section of my other container section or break it down into a couple catagories soon so i figured i'd wait until I was done with that so i'd be up to date with my organizing system.
  24. I say go for ebay now. I doubt these things will be worth much in the future. They're made of CHINESE PLASTIC. I doubt anyone could not see the poor quality. Assembling them together is difficult and i can't even add them into my collection b/c i fear that i will damage them due to the cheap quality. I am now tracking a few series 3 on ebay and the amount i'm willing to pay for the ones I want isn't very much above MSRP level. The only reason i'm even attempting now is b/c I really want a couple figures. Just don't jack the price up to much on ebay. The #1 Problem on eBay is price gourgers. And just make sure to ship themproperly packed in the shipping package. For me, the #2 problem i've encountered a few times is items not packed well.
  25. I wouldn't be suprised if lego was switching out to cheaper minifiugre materials for more figures. I found out that, to my horror, that the collectible figures are made out of a cheaper plastic then the normal figures. When I began poking around here, I found a post about it. As far as what you did wrong? Question: did you do anything to put the figs in Harms way on purpose? Meaning, did you subject them to rapid tempature changes, damaged them using them, or other wise cause damage of some sort? if not, I doubt it was something you did. I quickly noted the cheapness of the collectable series 3 ones I got as soon as I poured the pieces out of the bag. The 3 I got are currently stored in the top drawer of my rolling cart and i'm now only planning on picking up a few more if I can find some at a good price on eBay b/c they're to cute to resist. Lego tried to pull a fast one on us and thought we wouldn't catch on to there attempted swith-a-roo. EDIT: oh, almost forgot. Follow this link and there's a post "legos made of Chinese plastic?" http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=50275&st=0
