Just got my 7745 from GB. Sorry about the mess in the background I had my US warehouse ship up north (and don't worry I didn't just empty the Lego on to the hard tile floor. Won an auction and here's how it's packaged. Brown postal wrapping paper around the 7745 box. Then each car is inside single layer layer bubble envelope (the ones with the tiny bubbles) All these things wouldn't conspire to be that bad except for all of the void areas in the box for the train the bounce around. The engine car with the weight of the 12V motor and the two weight blocks just disintegrated and wrecked the other cars. At the end of the day I can laugh this one off as none of the key pieces appear to be broken (haven't had the moment to really tear it down and investigate too much). I would be livid about the box and the abuse it took, but it was never mentioned at all during the auction and despite some tape marks it's in reasonably respectable-looking condition. It literally could just burst at the seems and emptied it's contents. Oh well. Happy to have my train, looks sharp!! Also very excited to have some new rubbers too!! A word of advise from someone who's slung packages at a sorting centre. If you put "Fragile" on the outside of the package, that just means throw it harder, it's got some weight to it. Bigger packages tip over on to smaller ones and smaller packages can get jammed on conveyors.

I absolutely love this, especially the 7-stud wide design. Makes the seating improve 100%. Very attractive, I always talk about "Shelf appeal" when rating values of toys. if this were an actual set it would have lots of shelf appeal. I can't help but think that $25,000 is a little steep for this model, I would have put that kind of money towards something more subtantial or even some of it towards non-lego stuff.

3 X 60050 & 1 X 7937 or 2 & 2? Station opinions . . . .
Breakdown replied to Breakdown's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Whatever this is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ausini-TRAINS-Set-25110-Building-Block-Toy-928pcs-city-station-lego-compatible-/281480303950?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item418988954e Is a good remake of 7937. I'd actually be somewhat tempted to buy this if the train bases were black, since black 6 X 28's seem to cost a fortune!! -

I would NOT be combining both unique sets, the one platform would be somewhere on the track and the other would be at another remote location, obviously the platform for the 7937 would require some more plates to extend it in length, as my end goal is to have mostly 6 car trains throughout. The first thing that I thought of with the 7937 is the nod to 7822. Considering the lack of parts in the catalog at the time it was released, I find 7822 to be a superior set in design of the two. -
I think of buying some of the bulk lots on E-bay like Storage Wars, you're looking, and you're saying to yourself. There appears to be almost a full set or all of the key pieces to a set in there. This guy might have some . . . in there??? I think that's fun, and sometimes you get a pleasant surprise, it also encourages me to get away from the themes that I've stuck to like glue. Most of the time that I dive in to these types of things. There's one part or thing that I can see were the lot is worthwhile on its own with just the one part that you really want, and the rest is just bonus. You really have to pick and choose. If I want a full set in good condition and those are mandatory i try and have a look at what else the seller is selling. If they don't really have any other lego sets that are for sale I tend to think that they are just buying stuff at garage sales and bid accordingly. If they constantly list sets, they are a neurotic adult collector. Look for words like set will be fully disassembled, because getting an assembled set isn't helpful for most of us, etc. By far most of the stuff that I have purchased lately is a minimum of 20 years' old, and up to 30. At this point you either buy 15-20 sets of used/handled pieces or 1 MISB - for me, someone who's never owned a new car in their life the choice is easy. Not new, but piles of options and good power, etc. I would think very differently if I was seeking 5 year old sets likely as the disparity wouldn't be nearly as great.

I want to build my own train station, but what you have to understand about me is that everything involving me needs to be needlessly complicated. Like . . . . insanely complicated, not just a little complicated. So . . .most of the things that I do will only make sense to me. -
My expenditure in the last 12 months would be: 20% in store lego boxed sets 10% Pick a brick off the wall stuff 10% Lego online direct (pretty much stuff I can't get in the store at all) 40% E-Bay auctions 20% Bricklink. In other words, I really wouldn't spend much at all without a credit card, 30% tops!!

I agree 100%, but unfortunately this set is not available to me in MISB at MSRP. I'm trying to acquire a second hand set, or just build my own epic train station. I appreciate the comments thus far though. Most I agree with. -

I should mention that I just bought my first 9V set (to be converted to PF or 12V since I have zero track). Most of my stuff is pretty old. My trains include 7715 (Extra cars) 182, 727 and a pair of 7745s. -
I recently nabbed a MIB: 7937 on E-Bay for about $40. It should be arriving to my US warehouse today. On the weekend I was at my local toystore, and saw one of these on sale with the newer 60050, it was an older box, a little beat up. I tucked it behind the others and will return there if I choose to buy it. I'm having trouble getting into the new lego, 6-wide vehicles, dark grey etc, it's a struggle to want this because I'll either have to segregate my lego or try and incorporate the new with the old. I bought the 60050 station as an impulse purchase while at the store to buy more PF tracks. I want a station that's sufficiently long enough or close enough to long enough to accomodate 6 car trains. When I started to build and work with the 60050 I started to really love the set. My first impression seeing the box was cheap drive thru fast food place morphed into train station. It's pretty impressive-looking as a platform, etc, the 7937 looks very . . . . "juvenile" on the box. For those that have both, or are familiar with the 7937 is this a set worth buying. Yes, I already have one, but is it worthy of purchasing a second one?? When it comes to lots of things, I usually tend to value my opinion more than those of others, but I guess the issue is that I bought set # 60050 with very low expectations and have come to really enjoy it, so I'm wondering if the same will apply for the older station. Thoughts??

One suggestion to deal with the half-plate discrepancy would be Tyco Stupidblocks. Unless somethings' changed in the last 20 years, their plates are 2 plates = one brick and not three like Lego. If you jam one Tyco stupidblock plate on top of a lego plate (assuming that you can get the colours to match) that motor will line up with the cars pretty good.

I wish I had your discipline. Darn credit cards.

5 cents?!?! Some of us aren't made of money. Provide a more reasonable solution.

I have bad habits I'm like a squirrel constantly burying nuts everywhere. I love my 80s and 90s city sets. One guilty pleasure I have is buying lots of duplicate sets I use them to mod and expand upon some of the legendary sets that are out there. As great as it is having more unique sets I truly enjoy having multiples of some of the legends out there. I currently have two or more 6386, 6389, 6394, 6395, 6398, 7745, 60051 to name a few.

Did I Get A Good Deal On This Ebay Purchase?
Breakdown replied to CrazyDalton777's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The Pound to USD hasn't really changed too radically, but I've seen that far, far too many UK auctions seem to be at prices that are too good to be true. I've recently won a pair of UK auctions on E-bay including this one: can't get the stupid runway baseplates for that cheap!! http://www.ebay.com/...e-/251894984243 The parts were a complete mess, I just washed everything, and pretty much everything is in good condition. The Firestation set is missing virtually nothing, and the planes aren't short much. When it becomes a good idea to pay for shipping across the ocean there's a problem and right now it's my belief that the UK is not really too much of a hotbed for older lego sets these days. BTW - if anyone can identify the police vehicle, the small fire truck that doesn't belong to 6396, the skidoo thingy, the and the yellow vehicles it would be appreciated. I have put some effort in and haven't found anything yet. -
Apparently this thread drummed up a little TOO much interest in this set. I've placed an order, one for me, and one for my nephew and then a friends pencil holder for my niece (get some Christmas shopping done early). Projected ship date is about 2 months out!!

I painted one of my goalie helmets this colour, with black metallic fad in around the face . . . . looks epic. You should consider heading to Moparfest, I'm not even a Chrysler fan and I really enjoy myself there!!

A - For originality. A - For execution. I really like this. I'm sure that I'm thinking along with you in the fact that I wish there was a circuit for the train below, but . . . . we can't have everything, and the radius for the trains is just too great for that on your shelf.

Looks dangerous. For your own safety I would send these to my house immediately
