Tried to move 12V track over without enough disassembly, stress fractures in switch! That's my dumbest. Over-buying and under-buying parts on Bricklink. Somehow I have 11 more left white wings than right or visa-versa (anyone want to trade). Loads of lack of knowledge issues too. Never enough straight track even when you buy piles of straight track or think that you're over-buying, there's still not enough.

Sorry 7715 & 7745 trains. Looks as if you'll have to wait to get extended to full length. Bought a whole 7208 from Ebay on the cheap to add to the current one. After obtaining my third 7937, I really need some straight track sections to make this pop!

Looks like a lot of fun to me. This is one of those purchases that I would make once and then be stuck with forever.

Acquire pcs to extend my 7715 & 7745 trains on BL overseas. Acquire another 7208 for parts or BL parts to extend to 4 Fire truck bays.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111997728353 I'll never learn. It's 6399 - Airport Shuttle monorail with box. In incomplete as is condition (again . . . .I'll never learn, I do own most of a complete 6399 set already, but do desire another to double-up and complete mine. If you look at the link. It would appear to have each and every single unique component included that are extremely annoying to come by. Both 6 X 6 X 9 white arches, Both 4 X 3 X 6 yellow arches, battery box, baseplates, and the illusive mono-motor cover, also the battery box. I have no idea what is all in there. There appears to be many of the parts for the 6396 airport as well in this auction. Looks like the flight control tower and much of the airport itself along with the plane tail. The prices on these things have gone absolutely insane lately. I just lost a bid on a set no where near as complete with no battery box or box for nearly $200. In the center of pic #2, absolutely confused as to what the dark trans blue piece(s) are?? Immediately above the red/white stairwell. Thoughts??

Hmmmm . . . . So I gave your idea a try, it actually looked horrible at first, one of things that I've never liked about my blue passenger jet is the position of the wings. When it was built I didn't have any 2 stud double-inverted pcs, and the scenario that you presented made the rear end look a little odd, so while trying your thing, I ended up doing a tear down and moving the wings up two notches. This makes the plane look pretty good I must say, at least right-side-up. Original Transcon/2 plane with all blue back, Short style plane with evenly stacked rainbow tail end, and then the Laka proposal back end (from left to right) When you get under the plane it is not quite as attractive, but who's look up at lego these days?? The underview. I think that I've interpreted your idea correctly, if not please clarify. Just a couple of works in progress: The wonderful (at least in my opinion) black & yellow private jet is simply a case of what I have inventory to complete at the moment. Almost the entire roof at this point is non-hinged, some parts are on order to complete this, the plan is also (obviously) not to keep the white wing on the plane. I'm also working on a black, white & red passenger jet. I believe that I do have the components for this one, but it's less advanced in production at the moment.

I forget where the ball came from to be honest, the niece and nephew play with it when they come over, I was actually a little annoyed that it ended up in the shot to be honest, now I'm looking at it a little differently. On all forms when posting pictures, I try and hide some Easter Eggs, and this thread is no exception . . . . the "Easter Egg" wasn't overly creative this time, and it's not the soccer ball. BTW - the soccer ball won't hold air for it's life.

Sorry so late, here's what I have. The white piece is directly struck in both pics. The pics on the left are slightly less further along on the turn. Looks like you'll need at least two studs clearance.

We've seen this before. But this time I'm back with an airport that won't fit on any reasonable-sized table. Planned for two terminals, perhaps three, and spoiler alert . . . there might be some kind of monorail shuttle system involved. What you're looking at in the initial pics is terminal #2, near completion. Right now, there's pics of Terminal one and it's runways. I simply cannot get over how many of those round white dots that I've gone through lighting the runway. I've altered the rear end of two of the three blue jets to allow the lines to continue through. I've tried to add a red variant, and I'd like some feedback on the tail wing being red, right now it is red because I'm out of light grey tail wings, but would like to know everyone's thoughts - should I just keep it this way when the light grey tail comes in. There's 4 set 6396 jets in all. Two short length and width, two engines on each side of the fusselage and then two that are longer and as commented by one of my friends, probably have an absolutely excessive amount of engines - six total with a pair on each wing in addition to the other two. The longer term plan is to integrate a complete MOC (not MOD) of a very, very significant and unique airport terminal, but as of now the plan is a little more scatterbrained. You can see in the background (below the monorail shuttle) you'll see the area that should soon be occupied by terminal #1. Most of my stuff is pretty predictable, so you can probably guess what you're going to see next, and the themes of the planes that will be residing in the #1 Terminal. The #1 Terminal and runway system will be about 60% of the size of Terminal #2. And yes, while positioning the plane that is about to take off, I can only be reminded of the KLM flight disaster with the tail strike as the passenger jet desperately tried to lift, striking it's tail, and eventually the other plan on the runway.

Sarcasm - deep down inside I'm just a massive drama queen. I actually agree - somewhat. Though it's a part not nearly as much of a pain to get as the unique parts to 6399 which are currently costing me my sanity and way too much of my money at the same time.

How many other things that I dearly cherrished about my childhood and adulthood are you going to tell me aren't "real." I don't need this kind of negativity in my life.

I own half a 7722 acquired in an auction with half a 6396 in my 20's, when I was younger (this is a theme with me) I demanded the 7715 and added the motor having absolutely no clue of the complete disaster I was making. I had no idea how the battery car worked and my train sucked. I still only have passenger trains to this day. The battery box isn't 100% unique as you could buy the battery car as a service part, I still have the original box from mine, I got it clearout from a Lego outlet when they were full-on going with the 9V stuff. I believe that this set went for $89.99 Canadian in TRU back in the day. I checked on Brickset and believe their $68.50 to be more accurate than your $40. You may remember it as a clear-out item for $40 after 9V was introduced. Absolutely love 4.5/12V Grey-era stuff!!

I can take some measurements tonight or this weekend with all three monorails. There's a couple of factors here. 6990 has rockets or some junk on the outside of the cab and a hose on the front. that extends out. 6991 has a protruding nose, but minimal in the way of extra width except at window height and there's lots as this monorail car is designed to leave the train. 6399 has minimal of anything extending it. Shorter or longer couplings on the motor itself could potentially influence extension on a turn as well.

Does not apply to every set, but many are one set one bag. Many people are breaking sets and selling as new on E-bay. It's nice being able to break instruction books without actually turning them into a mess. 60097 is a prime example. Even the trains are being sold car-by-car, etc. Also, if you have two kids and . . . . . gasp . . . . they have to share the lego!!

I'm in progress on an old school 2 terminal airport and that alone is taking up one entire room with a monorail. I can't begin to imagine an new-scaled airport!!

I saw the title and was hoping for Transformers, but expecting or bracing my self for SunCruiser rocket ship. . . . . .wasn't disappointed in the least. That's ill!! Breakdown next???

Food for thought: I have something in the neighbourhood of 12-15 of the 4-brick-wide planes. I am considering getting into the new planes, I admire them for the way that you can customize the interior. The big Friends jet even is tempting!! Love the aero-look on the noses. The old lego planes are the only ones that go with monorail. I think that the new lego planes are the only planes that work with rail, and newer lego sets. The biggest passenger 4-stud wide plane is just about dwarfed in every dimension other than wing span, but a current firetruck. For those that hate the current one-piece noses, it's been the same for decades. I remember going to a friend's home and his much older brother had a lego city layout and I remember thinking how incredibly lame it was. It was just all bricks, and square. I had all of those specialized pieces . .. . in the 1980's and he had . . . that. Now I'm the square dude and he had the same commentary at the time. All of the specialized pieces, like the 6392/6396 tails and such didn't allow much imagination, etc. I'm working on an expansion project for my airports. Old-school runways, and it's taking up too much real-estate with the 4-stud planes, can't imagine 8-stud wide planes, or having that kind of runway room or budget for pieces. Believe it or not I've stalled because of a lack of 1 X 1 round pieces. On order currently. A future project that I've been collecting pieces for is a hangar for one of the smaller planes, I don't want to universally declare this impossible for the newer planes, but excessively difficult would be one way that I would describe it!! I will state one thing where I think that the old planes have a distinct advantage is just colour schemes. I hate the idea of full one-colour cockpit sections, I love the idea of running every colour through the plane and that's just not to feasible without stickers with some of the new setups I'm thinking of making my own plane factory as I'm beginning to establish sufficient inventory to make all sorts of old school planes.

I'll confirm this as well, as I was trying to add a IR Receiver to my monorail, it works if you use the new 6 X AAA battery box, but not with the old-school 9V box. Would recommend buying heatshrink from hobby store and using a heater (maybe a hair dryer would work). Not really sure if it would apply to your application (looked at the pic of the train that you're trying to emulate. One of the most infamous (and rare) lego trains is 7750 (12V era), the front car does nothing but roll, the motor and weight bricks (no battery pack) were in the coal car. It doesn't really have to be a "coal" car, you can make it a cargo car, etc, but it's an effective cheat to enable the front of your train to be free of constraints and push the power source back, you might be even able to assemble a train that has a hinged opening above the battery pack to allow you to turn on/off quickly. The only disadvantage would be that you'd have wires going from car to car if doing lights.

For anyone wondering: From 12 o'clock and clockwise: 1.) Passenger plane from 6396 airport (red/white/blue) 2.) Modified passenger plane from 6544 (grey/red/white/blue) Transcon/2 It's entirely possible that he looked ahead in the pics, but those nose pcs, plus windscreens weren't used in much else together. 3.) Passenger plane from 6392 airport (red/whtie) 4.) Modified passenger plane from 6396 (Transcon/2 style extended length - red/white/blue) 5.) Modified passenger plane, made in the style of 6392, but Transcon/2 colours (grey/red/white/blue) short 6.) Modified passenger plane, 6392 airport (Transcon/2 style extended length - red/white) 7.) Passenger plane from 6396 airport (red/white/blue) 8.) Cargo plane 6544 (grey/red/white/blue) Transcon/2 9.) Passenger plane from 6392 airport (red/whtie

Getting started with monorail (how bad an idea is this) . . . .
Breakdown replied to Breakdown's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Should probably update this thread. The $75 win that I got had 5 straights, 2 ups, 2 downs. I have to wait for months to get it because it was down at my US warehouse. My Christmas happened in late Novembuary. At home I had assembled a double 6990 loop with a near complete vehicle, with only two mono-switches in Octobuary. Back to November . . . . . I had a near 6991 lot that I won for approx $160 on E-bay, what appeared to be a 6347 lot that was just over $100, and then impulse kicked in and I grabbed a buy it now lot for $199 that was the trains from 6991 & 6399 along with countless other things that had nothing to do with either set, only small track sections and nothing else monorail. So . . . . . . fast-forward to now. In the next few days I'm going to be uploading a video of me attempting to use all of my monorail parts that I can simultaneously. I think that it's something to look forward to. -
