42056 - Porsche Speculation

I doubt that it will be RC driven, its performance would be shite to say the least, and why would you want to have only RC functions but no RC drive. The only thing i see confirmed are the Powerfunction Lights. http://www.porsche.c...911/911-gt3-rs/ looking at this and its features and thinking about which could be implemented in a set like this. I believe recreating something like Porsche Doppelkupplungs Getriebe (PDK) would be a must have, and would be possible, for a set like this to me. The real Car does have 7 Gears, adding these would also be astonishing. http://www.porsche.c...and-rear-axles/ The car also does have a "Liftsystem" that makes the ground clearance adjustable. That could be something that transists very well into lego and also has been done before. (And would be done via Power Functions. http://www.porsche.com/germany/models/911/911-gt3-rs/chassis/rear-axle-steering/ The rear axle steering is also something that could be easily added. (Maybe the rod that goes from under the steering wheel to the back of the car is connected to it?) -

Oh i did not know that -

It's not. Its a Metal piece, engraved and coloured. It's a crest. Making it a sticker in the real-world car would be quite shabby for a upper middle class - luxus car. -

Didn't they talk about a special packaging? I could also see a booklet about the porsche etc. included in it. -

Yes, the trunk is relativly small on the real ones, you basicly only see a plastic cover and airflow/cooling system. (keep in mind this is not the same model as the Lego Porsche, its from a older 911 GT3 R Hybrid. But its roughly the same. -

If these are the grey parts you are talking about: These are part of the exhaust system, and i believe that they are only and not PF motors. This is roughly how the real one looks: Also it does have a Boxer 6 Engine, and i doubt lego will put only 4 cylinders there. -

I really hope they don't do it that way. Making doors/hoods openable via gears is one of the features i hate the most. Its unnecessary and not creative also overused. -

The supports itself could be the part that "rotate" -

That thing looks even better and not so awkward than the one from 42056 where the section where the Steering wheel is looks somewhat ugly in my opinion. -

I also think that the black plates behind the seats are covering the engine compartment and the gearbox/drivetrain. Since the Boxer Engine in Porsches is quite compact indeed, there will be enough room for other stuff in there. I see a function for a adjustable Spoiler, since it's in the real one, also there are Pictures where you can see that the angle on it is different. (I compared the Box-Art image with the actual set on the Fair, the angle is different on the one seen from the images of the nuremberg fair, its almost horizontal there, while at the box art its tilted towards the car) For the middle stick/ handbrake i think that its connected to the gearbox in the rear of the car, and the actual gearbox is not exactly benath it. I suspect that it will change the angle of the spoiler. I think that the red switch here behind the door is for opening and locking the hood since that is roughly the position where that switch would be in a real car. We can also see that there are some struts going from the steering to the rear of the car, thats why i think that there is a rear-steering included. (the real one has it too, quite popular in modern sports cars, as it helps in sharp turns) Tough it will not turn 1:1, the rear wheels only turn a small bit on the real one too, just to "help" it basicly. -

I guess the gear is part of the regular technic engine, the grey parts could be PF motors tough. I suspect that the angle of the Spoiler will be adjustable via PF, so atleast one PF Motor will be needed. Question is, if they use the new PF 2.0 or not, i looked at images and the rear of the new ones is not smooth/clear of edges. The surface of the grey things here seems to be entirely flat and free of edges. EDIT: the sides of new ones are smooth and free of edges/engravings. So they could be mounted facing to the center or the sides of the vehicles. But i guess i'm stretching it reeeaallly . Maybe like this? I know the size is a bit off, but they are roughly 6 pins long. This are the new small motors. -

They have different strengths, they have been used before, tough not that often. If its not that, probably because they're red in the original. -

by the looks of it the rear wheels seem to lack a steering option. So i doubt we'll be able to switch between front steer, or front+rear steer. -

Thats nicely done, i think that they will not use black in the final model, as it sucks up too much of the shapes achieved by the modelling. White seems to be the best choice as its neutral and red gets associated with ferrari the most. Purple... not so much. I believe you are refering to the fuel tank cap, its on the front on the real porsche. -

The grey piece is part of the exhaust system in the real one. I have 3d modeled one of these some time ago and know this from my research. It also seems to flat and lacks possible connector holes for a PF Motor. The "CV" seems to be this part here, you can see it in one of the youtube videos. -

I believe that the stick in the middle will be a handbrake function, or change in between front wheel steering and 4 Wheel steering, since the newer models have a backwheel steering (tough the ratio is not the same, it helps in cornering). Also the steering wheel is relatively far away from the shifters, which will them more accesible for your fingers, but i doubt that they will be functional, since i see no mechanical connection besides a middle strut where booth sides are connected to. On the latest image here we can also see one of those red gearbox switches, i think it will be here for turning the lights on/off or tilting the spoiler. (wich seems to has been done, look at the angles of it. Also on the front window, on the dashboard is a small hole, you can see a small gear trough it, i suspect that you can plug a small knob in it, for more accesible steering. The battery box will mostlikely be in the front, for accessibility and weight dispersion. So what we get will most likely be: - Power functions light - Spoiler which is changeable in angle - a handbrake or switch between Front Wheel Steering or 4 Wheel Steering. (or the spoiler can be adjusted from it) I'd love if the final model is white, or if they sell it in different colour variations. The rear is a bit too flat for me tbh tough.
