  1. I dunno, maybe it's just me but I wouldn't mind seeing more variety and the stuff used for Technic sets, and its not all bad, just a little repetive while missing out on some cool stuff. Like, instead of doing moar run of the mill stuff, how about something like those epically huge Mining Dumptrucks, or doing the special underground versions of front end loaders and dump trucks; And thats just construction-wise, whouldn't it be cool to see another Hovercraft or other less than standard machines? I just feel like there is so much untapped potential out there... Mike
  2. Didn't someone spontaniously build something like this to climb a hanging power cord with a camera at a convention or major gathering? I think I came across it on youtube not tooo long ago... Mike
  3. The problem is if it lists new and used, you'll end up with double the parts you need, half new half used, Honestly I prefer to just go throug and do it manually, more accurate and you can decide if you want to add in extra parts just incase(I do this with used parts for a bit of insurance or if I just want extra) Mike
  4. I don't think he meant it as his gearbox is the bestest gearbox ever, but if I understand it right his is also different that rather than just affecting speeds his powers completely different functions, kinda like having 4 diffferent Outputs if I'm understanding it correctly. Mike
  5. The crab has a good start, but right now the way the legs and claws are built they feel very stiff with all those 90 degree pivots. I'd try reworking them to add articulation and more accute/obtuse angles. Mike
  6. As someone who is still trying to figure out better ways of doing model kits, I can honestly say that trying to spray That many complicated pieces is much more work than say, killing an evil Space Overlord. Not to mention most Spraypaint Oranges don't even come close to matching the orange LEGO uses. Mike
  7. I'd KILL for this to be buildable.... Mike
  8. No problem, just be sure to share as you work! Also something I just thought of, but when you ready to kinda 'break out' and do your own MOC, I'd suggest doing somethign that has an established design(Gundam, Mechwarrior, what have you) as this can help push your boundaries in order to make your MOC look just like its "supposed to". A good example is with my Heavy Arms MOC, at first the legs were kidna skinny and the feet felt very long, but once I used 2x3 plates for teh feet and bulked up the legs it suddenly because just so much more like the original I'm forever glad I kept working at it. Mike
  9. I'm not sure its released quite yet, as when I first checked on this I had the LEGO set to US, adn it said it wasn't available there yet either xD But this could help to make smaller PF based MOCs easier/more feasible. Mike
  10. What I've done is look at some stuff that you really like and start off by simply reverse Enginnering them, then going and chaning it up a bit. I've done this quite a bit myself; First Time was with one of PeteCorp's Frames; PeteCorp Prototype Frame My Version with some slight modifications Speed Demon MOC Sniper MOC Hammerhand MOC(I'm actually thinking of trying to build something like this again, I love the arms on it!) More recently I worked off one of tkh's Design's; tkh's Strike Gundam My Original 'prototype' HeavyArms MOC Wing Gundam MOC And More to Come... Also depending on your available parts messing around in the LEGO Digital Designer is a decent way of experimenting, but honestly using real bricks is more intuitive IMO, its also much easier to experiment and joints and pivots. Also working in different scales with lead to different techniques, especially in areas such as joints, both of my examples I showed are around 6" tall, but larger models(1' or more) will require much stronger joints and more stability ect ect. IMO just start small and just slowly start expanding and messing with things, join/follow some LEGO groups on Flickr and such to see what and how other people are doing things and just mess around. Mike
  11. Right then, sorry for being so quiet lately, but I've finally got my very first BrickLink order in, and with it, I was able to build Heavyarms to be about 95% accurate! (don't mind the Beam Sword, he's just Holding on to it for Wing Gundam xD) And Speaking of Wing, heres the "Final" Version; I'm just waiting on the Design for a 3rd Gundam before I go and order Parts(also gotta refill my 'LEGO Fund' xD) Mike
  12. Awesome stuff! Thanks for going through all that effort on our behalf, was cool to see it going around and the music was a nice touch. But now a question, does it turn equally in both directions? I think I noticed it in your Batpod video but I couldn't really tell either way with this bike. Mike
  13. Sweet, I really love the use of thor red flex axles over the front wheels. Mike
  14. Ugh, my iPhone must have auto corrected it to groin from However I misspelt "ground" xD Mike
  15. Thanks for the reply Mahjqa, it's cool to know you're willing to dip down to this mortal plane to bless us with your help! xD But a question regarding getting power to the tracks; Where is the best place to do that? Up at the front, in the back, in contact withe the groin or above it(for tracks with an upper and lower leveling track bogies)? I guess it's not really a simple kind of answer, but any kind of insight would be good to know. Mike
  16. Well as I said, Mahjqa's stuff is a big part of why I want in to all this kind of stuff, so I've seen his stuff. I'm also not worried about making stuff as effective as mahjqa's, Basically I just want to chase my cats around. My biggest concerns with using Mahjqa's Car frame are turning, and driving the tracks, they are kinda connected problems really, I'm worried that the front wheels might have trouble turning the car with the long-ish tracks, and I'm worried that the stock design's Differential might make it less effective at actiually moving the car forwards, but also if I were to remove the Diff it would compounf the steering problem. Mike
  17. Basically, I'm coming out of my dark ages and want to mess around moer and more with Technic, especially after seeing lots of Mahjqa's fantastic creations(and others as well of course) and Got me thinking, I always liek Tracked vehicles, and as a kid I always tried to incorperate tracks into my creations, but this is back when the best way to do that was with the 1 size rubber tracks as found in the Mindstorms set OR by using a lot of those really small chainlinks(which I actually did once, ran half decently xD) But now thanks to my use of Brick link and such I'm finally able to really get back into this, and I wanted to start with something simple, so I built one of Mahjqa's simple Car Rigs and while right now I'm missing the XL motor and all the remote control stuff, I built it anyways and make do with one M motor and a Batt Box, just to see it work and all that, which it does(or half at a time at least xD) and I kinda messed around with it a bit to see if I can do a half track with it, it was somewhat sucessful, maybe it would have been more if I had found out about how you can easiy adjust the gear from Hi to Low, but I figure before I go back and try again I should ask to see if anyone has any tips regarding this kind of thing. Basically right now I'm just using the track parts from 8263 Snow Groomer but with Bricklink now mostly figured out I can easily grab some other parts too. But if anyone has some good tips to share regarding wither half tracks specifically or even just tracks in general I'm all ears! *Looks up* Dammit, guess I kinda rambled on a bit didn't I....sorry about that! Mike
  18. I must insist on a video, I wanna see this thing driving! Mike
  19. Good to see these questions being answered and heres a tip based on my experience for my first couple of orders Always try to keep in mind other projects you are or want to do, and heres a modified adage; When shopping Brinklink you always have 3 things in mind; 1- Does this Shop have everything I need? 2- Is the Shop close to me? 3- Is the Shop's Prices good? Pick 2 out of 3. Meaning it'll be rare you find a good near-ish shop that has everything you need for a given project. So I've picked up a bigger, Long Term Project(Metal Gear Rex) to go along with my Short Term Project(Microscale Gundams) so when I found 90-95% of the parts I need for my Gundam Project I still had like 4-5 different parts I need but not one shop that carries them all, so I fuind the shops that do, and throw in whatever parts they have form my Metal Gear project so that I meet the Min buy or whatever. Also Having a program like BrickStore to manage your wanted lists and what not is handy as well. Mike
  20. Cool beans, but if you ask me, looks more like a hover Quad than a Hover Bike! xD Mike
  21. Whelp, I'm pretty much done with Heavyarms, I'm just trying to figure out BrickLink so I can Actually order the Parts, but until then I have been working on Wing Gundam; Admittedly same basic build as Heavy Arms for the Legs, well except for the thruster on the back of the lower leg, but new Torso and shoulders and Arm. Features include posable wings, detachable Shield and Buster Rifle And it can Mostly Transform into Bird Mode(still working on this, much harder to work out the kinks in LDD) Comments? Questions? Mike
  22. I'm not normally one to bump threads, But I'm rather interested if anyone has any tips for dealing with this, because it can be rather frustrating to have to go in and properlly select each part type instead of being able to use the handy "Auto-Fill Cart Min" tool. Mike
  23. Okay, I'm going through my first Brcklink order, ane I got a question, when searching a specific shop with a wanted list, is seems to sow several copies of the same parts, based on thier inclusion of sets I think, but its a lot of work to go through and pick out one type of each, also is there also a way to see if stores have all of the items on my wanted list? Mike
  24. Awwwwww.......Well you know what that means, Wasp MKII! xD Mike
  25. Nice use of the Deep Sea Predator Windscreen, I never thought it it could be used nowadays! I should dig mine out and try to use it for something. xD Mike
