Hi, No I went purely for aesthetics. I love the idea of making a stronger more functional crane, but I probably won't ever get round to it. I'm pleased if it has given you inspiration and I'm sure you can improve on my design. I'm glad you appreciate the sharing. Hopefully I'll be sharing the designs from my new Train Station soon through my group - 'Lego Modulars by Ryan' on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/1482890298390475/ Happy Building, Ryan

Hi, Sorry I've been busy at work. My modulars are also hosted on Knud Albrechtsen's website. He helped me create the .pdf instructions so if you're not on Facebook, try this. Ryan http://www.snakebyte.dk/lego/instructions/buildings/index.php

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. When someone such as yourself takes the time to recreate a MOC, it's such a compliment. I love the alternate colour of the crane and the fact that you've worked around the rare parts. This is why I love sharing my designs. I'll be posting the LDD file for my new train station on my Facebook group soon for anyone crazy enough to want to build it or just curious to have a poke around it in digital form. Happy Building! Ryan

I'd be happy to email it to you.

Thank you. That's very kind. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next modular is and working on my next. Meanwhile if you'd like to build the construction site or just get a more in depth look at it I've shared the LDD file and instructions on a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1482890298390475/?ref=bookmarks Also, the group has details and instructions of my other modulars. Happy Building! Ryan

Hi, After the project was passed over for Lego IDEAS I was contacted by a lot of people who wanted to build it. I shared the LDD file on a group I set up on Facebook. If you search for Modular Construction Site LDD File on Facebook you'll find it. You are right that first someone created a PDF instruction for the crane section. Since then Another person has created amazing PDF instructions for the whole model. I have recently built it up again for a display at BRICK LIVE LONDON and can report that the instructions are amazing. The group has also become a resource for other files. For instance if you want to recreate the graphics as others have you'll see how to go about it. I hope this is helpful. I'm so thrilled at the response I've had to sharing the file and intend to share more, and develop the group into more. Watch this space. It's a testament I think to sharing what you build. I hope you find the group. I look forward to admitting you in, and hope you'll post anything you build as a result on the group. Ryan

Thank you so much. This is incredible. I've now shared it on the Facebook group. Thank you for the work! I hope you are able to do the same for the main building. That would be amazing.

Thank you for your message. As you can see I am happy to share this creation with anyone who wants the designs. I don't think the LDD file will run on a tablet. I'd be happy however to send you the Excel file of the brick list to allow you to start collecting the bricks. I'm sure you could view this on a tablet? You would however eventually need access to a computer to view the .lxf file. There is someone in my Facebook group it seems working on an instruction booklet using a program called 'Blueprint' . Perhaps if this happens I'll post it on the Facebook group and this may run on a tablet... I hope this makes you feel better. Private message me your email and I'll send you the brick list. All the best, Ryan

If you mean instructions more usable than the ones generated by LDD, I'd be interested to see whats possible. I hope you've found the file on my Facebook group. Ryan Feel free to PM me your email and I'll send it directly. Ryan

Hello All. Firstly thank you for all the messages. I've been thinking of the best way to share the LDD file. I'm interested to see where in the world it gets shared. I feel strongly that these things should be shared and not monetised. I've set up a Facebook group called MOC MODULAR CONSTRUCTION SITE. Please request to join and post on the wall your name, where you live (town) no exact addresses and an email for me to send the file to. I hope this is OK. Happy Building.

Hi, Not till January.... wish me luck! Merry Christmas to all!
-
I know it's a long shot but it's still in review, and we won't know till January I guess. Thank you for the compliment. If it doesn't make it through I will share the LDD file. Till then the concept is in Lego's hands so you'll have to be patient. I am working on my next project. My ideas take some time to complete.....

Hi Will. What do you mean by the support thing?

24 DAYS ON LEGO IDEAS & 5000+ SUPPORTERS! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!! (18th Feb 2016)

Thank you for the feedback. The turntable base is a great suggestion. To be honest this is quite an old build, but I may revisit it one day and I'll take these suggestions on board. Since then I have completed my MODULAR CONSTRUCTION SITE https://ideas.lego.com/projects/129250 I'm amazed to say it's only been on IDEAS two weeks and just now hit 3269 (10th Feb) I'm currently doing the research for my next build. Sometimes the R&D is my favourite part. Thanks again for the comments.

Recently I've seen a few MOC Modular builds that were inspired by real buildings. I'm sure we've all walked through our own towns/cities, seen a building and thought, "that'd make a perfect modular" It happened to me walking through Henley on Thames and spotting a branch of Barclays. To date it's my only MOC Modular based on a real building, but I like how it challenged me to recreate what I saw instead of free build. I thought It'd be nice to create a post for us all to share these builds. Here's mine..... "Bricklays Bank" by Ryan Taggart IF YOU LIKE MY BUILDS PLEASE SUPPORT MY LEGO IDEAS PROJECT - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/129250 If you're kind enough to post, please add an image of both the build and the real building, HAPPY BUILDING!

Thank you for the support. Once it's finished on Lego Ideas, I'll post the LDD file online.

Here it is combined with my previous builds - Again, thanks for all the support!

Great for a first MOC! Took me ages to be good enough to be confident to post. I still only use LDD. I've not explored other software. Is it that easy to export to MLCAD and then to LPUB? I've explored the links to your other creations. Slow down you're making us all look lazy! Amazing work.

Wow - the orange and tan brickwork really works. Great work!

Amazing layout! You seem to posses all the skill to do your own MOC Modular... Can't wait to see what you do. When you expand the existing sets do you do the interiors as well? I love the square. Great work! -
Thank you very much for all the comments. And thank you to those who followed the link and supported me on Lego Ideas.

Thank you for all the nice comments. It's now live on LEGO IDEAS!! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/129250 please vote if you like it. Thank you.

It's a corner modular, but it's very versatile. The Building yard and crane will detach completely but also has connectors an each side itself. Details here : http://www.moc-pages...home.php/119061 The builders yard only has one connector on the right hand side, because when the top floor is lifted off the whole building hinges open.
