Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
Pchan1983 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think so because I didn't get any of those when I bought them from Lego Store today. -
Happy New Year, just like previous years dashed out to buy and build this. Here is my review on 80107 Spring Lantern Festival. THE GOOD: Looks stunning. A good looking completed build. Various interesting build techniques and design, like the bridge, way to build terrain, the pavilion, the bamboo tress. So many new pieces and new printed pieces and torsos. Compatibility with modular buildings. Great value. THE NOT SO GOOD: None, but if I have to I probably single out the bench on the footpath but being an obstacle. (This is very nitpicking) Overall, LEGO has outdone themselves again. I think this is the best Chinese new year set to date. It looks stunning and compared to previous years, this is the only completed build. You can also easily extend this with different modular sets or create you own. It's difficult to single out what is the best part of the set simply I love the whole set. Although the package said 8+ but some of the builds will need extra patience and experience. The whole garden just looks so lively. I'll totally recommend this set and this is probably already a contender for set of 2021. Especially the price is very good as well considering what you are getting from this! Off topic, but the OX lantern does give me idea of the Brazen Bull. Also is switch is right on the butt of the ox, which is quite funny to be honest XD

After 2 years, I finally opened the 2018 Christmas Gift! and it's brilliant!

I actually like this one more than the halloween one. Here are my detailed thoughts.

Here is my review on 60250 Mail Plane: THE GOOD: Cheap way to get another white bird. Uncommon minifigure included. The plane turns out to be pretty good than originally expected. THE NOT SO GOOD: To be honest, there isn't any. If I have to pick one, it will be the limited availability. Overall, I think this is great. It's perfect as a small gift for Christmas. The plane turns out to be looking better than expected. And it's a great way to get an extra white bird (this is the main reason I bought it). Now this can be hard to find for some as it is limited to Lego store and selected retailers depending on the region you live in. Anyway, totally recommended!

Thanks! I bought it back in 2019 when it first released. It's getting difficult to find this set because of supply chains issue with COVID pandemic this year. Is there any Lego store close to your location? If yes, call and see if they have it in stock. Otherwise your local toy store or amazon (make sure seller is amazon but not reseller) may be selling it too.

Here is my review on Monkie Kid 80006 White Dragon Horse Bike: THE GOOD: Monkie Kid and Mei minifigures are extremely well done Nice colour scheme on the bike THE NOT SO GOOD: OVERPRICED!!!! NZD35 seems to be more fair The build of the checkpoint doesn't add much value to the set While the bike looks nice but it's a bit too big for minifigures Overall, this set is very very pricey. Given this is Lego exclusives it's very unlikely you get much discount from it. While you get a nice selection of minifigures, you don't get much value from this. I do like the colour scheme on the bike but personally I'm not a fan of oversized bike compare to a minifigure. I also feel a smaller mech or bike for the bad guys would be better than a check point build. Only get this set if you want some monkie kid related components but other big sets are even more pricey. Otherwise, if you are just into the minifigures, better buy the minfigs off private seller.

Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion

The big on house is ok but the garden one ... must have. I think might have to get multiples. Seems like this one doesn't have all printed like this year's one. I notice some of them looks like stickers. -

Built the Frankenstein on Halloween. I'm surprised how good it is. To be honest, the nutcracker on is also more spookey than christmas feel =) -
After months of wait, the Hogwarts students acc. set finally arrived. For some reasons, it took like 2months before it appeared as Available on NZ shop@home. Nice surprised to see all torsos with different colour tie. More on my thoughts here.

For whatever reason, Australia and New Zealand somehow got The Christmas Carol promo first via LEGO Certified Stores. Rushed out to spend $199NZD just to get it. Totally loves the idea on build scene on top of a book. I absolutely love the small details packed into the set. I wish Lego carry on the same approach for GWP but at the same time I wish these are more widely available! I hope ROW get news on when this will available soon =)

Just built the mandalorian brickheadz. Baby yoda is so cute when taken out from the pot. I'm really surprised on how they build the helmet, like seriously? you can do that? Anyone recall if the boba fett brickheadz used the same technique? -

Elf Club House is loaded into the system now but reindeer is out of stock for the time being =( -
I didn't notice the instruction is black background until mentioned here so I guess it was alright. I built the set during the day though so may be a brighter environment helps a bit.

Just built this set today, here are some thoughts: POSITIVES Love the reindeer, I need more! The waffle cooker is awesome. Some interesting building techniques at various place. NEGATIVES Light brick felt unnecessary. The brick built toys are getting boring. I enjoyed the building experience but I like the Gingerbread house more. It's called club house but feel a little bit quiet. More Elfs would be welcomed. The action feature on the waffle make though, it's brilliant. And I absolutely loved the reindeer, Can't wait to buy more of these!
