Open fire on the Rebels with the UCS Death Star! This massive model has loads of great features, such as a spring loaded turbo laser, rotating turrets, a trash compactor, and meeting room! Close up the flaps for display, or open them to play! Picture: https://img.rebricka...nts/4633691.jpg

Oh my, completely forgot about that. I have seen a few episodes, and when I saw the TIE Advanced, it just looked like the movie to me.

If you look at the ship from the front, you can see that the panels angle in at a 45 degree angle. http://vignette4.wik...=20150310124250

Agreed. The design of the very first TIE advanced is breathtaking. I look at it, and it's so realistic that I think it's not even LEGO. I have dedicated a shrine to 7150 and worship it every day. I like puns

Lookin' good.

The "hallway" leading to the cockpit looks.. off. Maybe it's a bit too high, or maybe its me, but it looks too "sticky-out."
-
Why the hell is the cockpit piece on that falcon black Why not light bley? Or better yet, the printed piece used in the microfighter?
-
Is it out now? how did you get it early?

OK, thanks for all the feedback, lets answer some questions. I am in fact not whining, just making some observations of the size of the ship and such. I in fact love the new TIE, I'm just interested in things like this. No need to add salt into the mix. I know, I was not talking about those angles, but instead, the angles of the corers of the panels. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Mmmm, I did some digging, the model I was referencing implied it was a studio one, when in fact it wasn't. I rewatched the Battle of Yavin and paused it at certain times, and yes, you both are right. Sorry for the false information. Yeah, here in Australia, it will cost about 150 dollars, which is just, ridiculous. Yes, it is simply gorgeous. and the fact that they FINALLY got the colours right, and didn't use dark bley.

This is great, and reminds me of another topic from a month or so back, take a look, yours and his are very similar. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=117354

I'm much more fond of the rebel pack than this one, the vehicle is, while not great, far better than the thing in this set, and the troopers are way more generic in the rebel one than in this one, and they have better detailing.

OK, I have taken a great interest recently in the new set, the TIE Advanced VS A Wing, and you'll known this if you follow the 2016 news and rumours page. Now, while this set looks great, and the A Wing is the best I have seen yet, the TIE is quite off. I'm going to be referencing the old TIE Advanced, 8017, so bring up a picture of that in your mind. http://brickset.com/sets/8017-1/Darth-Vader-s-TIE-Fighter And here's the new TIE: http://brickset.com/sets/75150-1/Vader-s-TIE-Advanced-vs-A-wing-Fighter Now, the first thing that I noticed straight away was the solar panels. They look too short. They should be extended by about 4 studs. And, the angles on the panels are wrong. They need to be a 45 degree angle. Notice that the old set got the panel shaping right, but is lacking a good border around them, which the new one does have. The other main problem is the back part of the ship. Simply put: it's puny. The older set also got this right, but is lacking the detail that the new set is boasting. https://dynamicsubspace.net/2010/01/22/lego-star-wars-darth-vaders-tie-advanced-fighter/#jp-carousel-1203 But which set is better? Well, if your into the fine details and overall look, then definitely the new TIE: It is my favourite, simply for how good it looks. Also, its looks pretty easy to mod in the right proportions. With the older set, sure, you're getting the correct proportions, but it would take alot more modding to make it look good, as it is missing alot of nice details. Also, you're not getting the great new windshield and canopy the new one is boasting. Anyway, that's my take on it. Let me know what your thoughts are. BONUS DRINKING GAME: Take a shot very time you see the word 'proportions.'

get the TIE. I missed out on it, and I regret it, as it is a great set. In other news, I've looked into it, and the old TIE advanced has a more accurate sing shape and legth. Also, the proportions on the back rounded part of the TIE is more accurately shaped. However, the new TIE is more accurate on the front part, as it looks alot more rounded and closer to the real thing. My final thoughts are, wait until a price drop on the new set, and mod it so that its a bit longer. I think this is a better option, as the new one looks alot more solid, with a much better wing design. However, the slant on the wings should be a 45 degree angle, not the 20 something degree angle on the official one.
-
this is justmy opinion, but I really don't like the blue windshield. Sure, it saves money, but it looks too... Kiddy? Like when I used to make things with whatever colours I had?
-
it's a shame it's not real LEGO, but its very impressive for a CGI photo!
-
Hm, I didn't know that.
-
I think the new TIE is a HUGE improvement over the old one, I have it, and its far too blocky. The new one uses a new design for the wing border, which is probably the best they can get without hinges flopping about. Making the wings about 2 or 3 studs longer wouldn't be too difficult to MOD. I still wish the Vader in this one had leg printing. I guess I'll just use my Death Star Trooper legs. No where near as good as the old one? The new one looks alot better, in my opinion. Also, this one is actually light bley, where the old one is more dark bley, and looks wrong.

the solar panels on Vader's TIE look too short.
