Yes, I am also amazed on how they can see all that on this blurry picture... it must be my eyes which are not good enough :-)
-
Oh my god, I am so excited by these news that I can't work anymore!!! What a wondeful time indeed for Lego LOTR fans :-)
-
This MOC is amazing, but there are three things missing (which I hope will be included in the upcoming set): the bridge where Arwen and Aragorn meet, the place where the pieces of Narsil are kept, and... a waterfall!
-
I still think Minas Tirith would be the best D2C option for LOTR. Meduseld would be a close second though :-) Anyway, we will know soon enough (or late enough) after the Rivendell release if it is a one shot or if we have a chance of getting more LOTR sets in the years to come...
-
My understanding is that the initial Rivendell rumor came from leaky_minifigure on Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/p/ClZ_M3CpDUZ/

This does not surprise me given how disappointing RoP season 1 was... One needs to be inspired to make mocs. They'd better step up their game for season 2 - but given that they will keep the same lead actors and that most of them lack both charisma and empathy, I am not very optimistic...
-
Personally I would definitely buy it even if it is microscale, and I think it will sell well in any case, given how long people have been waiting for a return of the LOTR theme.
-
Interesting comparison with SW. I personally bought only the SW Original Trilogy sets (which represents already a lot of sets!). I enjoyed the movie prequels and sequels but not to the point of buying the associated Lego sets.

I have not read the WoT books so I can't comment on them, but I have seen the WoT show and it is really one of the worst fantasy series I have ever seen. The visual effects are terrible and the casting is awful (except for Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney maybe). Even Rings of Power is brilliant in comparison (at least it looks good visually)...

Yes indeed, by fodder I also meant minifigs parts
-
Given how disappointed I was in RoP, I would much prefer that they really revive the LOTR theme rather than make sets based on the show. But if they were to make ROP sets, I might buy some just as fodder to make LOTR MOCs

Bots and trolls only cannot explain such a low score. The show may well be the most watched Amazon series (which makes sense given how much people were looking forward to it), it is still a disappointment to many. I personally question the casting in particular: most characters of RoP really lack charisma and empathy (it is striking when you compare with the stellar cast of the LOTR trilogy).

Well as mentioned in previous exchanges, for now I prefer to keep my hopes down and I do not expect anything else besides the upcoming Rivendell D2C. But if the sales of that set are really good, MAYBE Lego will realize that there is a demand for a real reviving of the theme and make more sets. I personally prefer miniscale than microscale, but will buy anything branded LOTR as long as it isn't BrickHeadz :-)
-
Could not agree more :-)
-
The sets needed in priority are those which were not made before: Minas Tirith and the Golden Hall. I am nevertheless looking forward to Rivendell because the Council of Elrond set was too small to pay justice to this iconic location. As for Barad Dur it would be nice in the long run, but I am not in a hurry to add a second big black tower to my collection display :-)
-
Except BrickHeadz are just too ugly and would not fit at all in my beautiful LOTR collection display :-)
-
Fully agree with you. I am not counting on anything else besides Rivendell at this point.
-
I would never buy these ugly Brickheadz, even branded LOTR...
-
While waiting for the Rivendell set, I have been working on a Minas Tirith MOC. Here is a first preliminary version (I need more white pieces!)
-
I was personally quite disappointed with Rings of Power, and I hope they will not be making sets based on that show. As someone stated earlier they would probably sell as badly as the Hobbit ones, and this would be the end for good of any LOTR sets...
-
That would be amazing, but don't get your hopes up... Although I hope to to be wrong, I am afraid we will most likely only get Rivendell and nothing else :-(
-
I am not really a fan of the Monkie Kid sets range, but some of them have amazing water falls (in particular The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain). I hope Rivendell will have water falls!
-
Don't get your hopes up, I really don't see why they would put a Sauron figure in a Rivendell set (nor a Balrog, nor the Witch-King of Angmar...)
-
Personally I would not mind at all a microscale Rivendell if it is as well designed as Hogwarts Castle. But I would understand the disappointment of those who do not already own all the existing LOTR minifigs...
-
I am not really looking forward to the figs, as in a Rivendell set they will probably be the same ones we already have from previous sets: the 9 members of the fellowship, plus Elrond and Arwen. I am much more looking forward to the set architecture itself, as for 500 bucks they have the means of doing something truly beautiful ;-)
