TLG gets greener (ie. more environment friendly)
Dazmundo replied to Sandy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Around here in the UK we can recycle plastic types 1-6 which basically covers the vast majority of stuff, we just put it in the box and it is collected once a fortnight. So I can recycle my bags D -
Looking forward to seeing pics of this display, if I wasd in the US I'd be making a journey to support him. I'm currently up to 263 different sets D

As I wasn't really buying Lego at the time of the change I wasn't really aware of it until recently when I broke down all my old Castle sets to start a MOC of Castle Stalker and when I bought some more bricks to add to it they were a different shade. Not sure what I'm going to do, probably just mix them and work on the theory that no castle has walls all exactly the same shade of grey! D

I have never used any tools up until this week when I was assembling Emerald Night as it had clear stickers and I didn't like getting my finger prints on them so I used a pair of Vinyl Weeding Tweezers I usually use them when making cut vinyl stickers but they were great for the Lego stickers D

I bought 4541 from ebay and it arrived this morning Not actually for me but my wife. She has been saying for ages (Long before I got back into buying Lego) that she wants a Road-Rail vehicle for her desk at work (She is a design engineer for Network Rail) and it occured to me that there may be a Lego one and I found this so bought it for her as a suprise.

Tesco have some Lego sets in their Sale worth a look D

I'm not usually a visitor to the Sci-Fi forums, even though I am a big fan of Sci-Fi TV & Books it has never crossed into my Lego building, but this ship was worth the visit. I love the fact that you have a whole back story to it and the design is fantastic. Mine too, maybe there should be an award, someone should suggest it to someone in Admin D

Yeah that is what I thought. I was fairly sure it was only a £20 set. D
-
I have just seen 4755 - HP Knight Bus in a charity shop (missing the dog) for £55! Does everyone else think that is as crazy a price as I do? I have no idea where they get their prices from. D
-
I just watched an episode of the Sarah Conner Chronicals. John Henry (a reprogramed cyborg) is playing with Bionicals as he is trying to learn using his imagination. D

How open are you about your Lego passion?
Dazmundo replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am a secondary school teacher and do not hide my interest but obviously don't often talk to the kids about it. However I do have a Lego minifig torch keyring hanging from my bag and my Lego calendar sits above my desk in my classroom and that has started a couple of conversations in the last couple of days, One boy asking me where I got the minifogs from and one girl who I pointed out looked like the cheerleader figure (she is blonde and a cheerleader) D -
That is my plan, but what do I actually need as a minimum to get it moving? D

I ordered 10194 Emerald Night last night from S@H Then I got the Castle Brickmaster book from my 18month old daughter this morning for fathers day D

This looks really nice, I have done something similar but much simpler I have replaced all the red with lime green and I am gradually replacing the white with orange as I get bricks with other Bricklink orders, no one has many orange 2x4 bricks. Have you thought about doing 2 slightly different versions so when you put them together the front row of one is ofset from the back row of the one infront? D
-
I'm on step 13, although I have been there since I was about 13years old, I was quite OCD as a child when it came to Lego. I totally skipped the sorting by colour stage, never saw the point in that D
-
Bricklink order from USA arrived today Contained a Mindstorms RCX 2.0 Box so that is quite exciting, also had some helmets for my 677-Knights Procession that had got lost/broken in the years of my youth, just need a few swords and shields now to complete the set. D

EB 2011 Windsor Event - pics & stories
Dazmundo replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Gutted I couldn't meet up with you all. I was in the park on Friday with my 18month old daughter but couldn't stay for the presentations as I needed to get her home to bed and my wife was ill so that ruled me out. Gutted, glad you all had a good time though D -
Today I was at Legoland Windsor and bought 8201 - Radiator Springs Mater 853195 - Brick Calendar D
-
I was at Legoland Windsor today (Yes I know everyone else is there tomorrow) and I spotted just one of these so I had to have it, £9.99 minus 10% for my passholder discount made it £8.99 which I thought was a good price. According to the box "Components made in DENMARK, HUNGARY and CHINA" I made it according to the picture on the box but this has to lead to a competition for the best designed calendar using only the parts from this set! D
