Would you or have you ever painted bricks?
Dazmundo replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have a few parts that when I was younger I painted, or coloured in! Including I am ashamed to say, this flag, I only coloured it black in permanent marker so I am hoping to get it cleaned up! D -
We picked one of these up at Legoland Windsor last week and as far as I can see there isn't a review on here so I thought I would do my first ever review of this set. Set Data Name: Lego Travel Game Theme: Board Games Number: 852676 Year: 2009 Pieces: 137 Minifigures: 0 Price: GBP:17.59,USD:24.99 (Although we only paid £9.99) Brickset The Box You can see the box closed above. It gives a good idea of what the box contains and lists all the different games that can be played with the parts inside. The lid fastens with Velcro dots and when you open it up this is what you see. As you can see the box is divided into two the left hand side holds two gaming boards and the right has all the playing pieces. I have spread the parts out so that you can see the whole inventory of what you get The Games The cardboard game boards fit into the blue foam frames and then a clear 16x16 plate fits on top allowing you to see the board through the plate but giving you the ability to attach your pieces, essential for a travel game. You can see that there is a hole in the bottom of the blue frame to make popping the boards out easy. The games you can play with this set are:- Chess Draughts (Checkers) Backgammon Snakes & Ladders (Firemens Hoses & Ladders) Ludo Solitaire Car Bingo (6 boards so 3 pairs) The whole 9in1 is a bit of a cheat when 3 of the 9 are just different boards for the car Bingo! but more on that later. The instructions for each game are on the back of the board, which seems like a good idea until you want to check the rules half way through a game. Not too much of an issue as the pieces are fastened to the clear plate not the actual board but it does involve you taking the plate & board out of the blue frame. The Playing Pieces There are set pieces for the different games with some pieces used for more than one game. Chess - The black and white cones make up your pawns but the main playing pieces have a bit more personality Black Clearly supposed to be the evil team with Skeletons for Bishops and Orcs for Knights. White The good guys with happy smiling figures I was surprised to find that the heads of all the playing pieces are attached to the cone pieces with a metal bar (You can just about make it out on top of the Castles in the birds eye view shot above). I assume this is so that there is no chance of the pieces coming to bits during play. Draughts - Unsurprisingly you use the same pieces as you used as Pawns for Chess Backgammon - There are a large number of small 1x1 cylinder pieces in red and blue as the pieces for this Snakes & Ladders - 4 more special figures for this game Policeman, Builder, Fireman, Thief. As you may be able to see from the bottom of the instructions, there are a few other special squares on the board other than Hoses & Ladders to fit with the other three character playing pieces. Ludo - The Chess teams are split into two for this giving you four teams two black & two white, King, Queen & Bishops v Knights & Castles. I've not played this yet so I'm not sure how confusing it will be having two teams with the same colour, especially when the board is set up as Blue, Green, Yellow, & Red Solitaire - This again makes use of our 1x1 cylinders but just the blue ones this time. There are more blue ones so you can't play solitaire with red as there are not enough. Car Bingo - Black & White cones again. I was quite surprised to see that there are 6 playing boards but only 3 different designs, the idea being that you and your opponent play the same board. I guess this is so that no one can blame their board for not winning. The 3 different boards are designed to be played in different areas so you have 1.On the move 2.Inner city 3.Countryside Conclusion Design: 9/10 Price: 7/10 (8/10 for the price I paid) Playing Pieces: 9/10 Playability: 9/10 Overall: 8/10 I was really pleased with this, It will be living in our Camper Van so that we have a choice of games to play in the evenings while my daughter is asleep. Please let me know what you think of my first attempt at a review. D

EB 2011 Windsor Event (2-5 June) - Hotel reservations
Dazmundo replied to Superkalle's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I assume you are getting the train from Stansted. In which case it is probably as easy to get a train straight to Windsor rather than go to Heathrow, it would be 2 changes to do either. Feel free to keep my thoughts to myself but just thought I'd let you know. For anyone planning train journeys who isn't from the UK you may not have heard of www.thetrainline.com it makes planning your train journeys much easier! D -
Not a clue??? D

Legoland Windsor had a few things I was supprised to see Series 3 minifigs - Not loads, but I saw them in a couple of the shops. Quite suprising seeing as the park was shut when they were released! 852747 - Priate Battle Packs - £7.99 852922 - Dragon Knights Battle Packs - £7.99 852921 - Lion Knights Battle Packs - £7.99 I didn't realise that they are actually quite good prices and seeing as I would have also got 10% off with my annual pass I could have got some bargins, Oh well will have to see if they still have some next time I go. D
-
That is fantastic thanks for the link. I've never actually seen the Lego camera piece before I didn't know they did one so I shall have to be on the lookout for one now. D

Went to Legoland Windsor today so 'had' to buy a couple of bits 10211 - Grand Emporium 5766 - Log Cabin 110g of Pick a Brick (Mainly 2x4 Lime Green Bricks for my Series3 display stand, There would have been the same again in orange but they only had 5 bricks so I just got those) 852676 - 9in1 Multi game pack reduced to £9.99 2x Legoland Annual passes They get you 20% off in the resteraunts and 10% off in the shops, unfortunatelly not off any 'hard to find' sets (numbers 10***) so had to pay full price for the Emporium The annual passes we got with our Tescos vouchers so were not to expensive at all! D

Thanks for the comments everyone, I am converting my wife to the way of the Brick, went to Legoland Windsor today and bought the 'Grand Emporium', But then my wife insisted that I buy her the 'Log Cabin'. I couldn't think of any other way to do it, I'd love to see some other versions of a similar thing. D

I have been before, the relatives we are going with have 3 kids so it is useful to have a 3rd adult with them and as I'm a teacher I'm on holidays when they are going so I often go along to 'help out' it's such a hardship for me They were at the after dark event on Saturday and got their Limited edition Duplo bricks unfortunately I couldn't make that one. LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Dazmundo replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No I picked up a scientist yesterday no problem, was only the 3rd pack I tried. Found the flask and the hair. The fask was more distinct than the hair actually D -
I am heading down to Legoland Windsor tomorrow with my family. My daughter is only 15months but I'm sure she will enjoy looking at the models. The other kids we are taking love the rides, it'll be their 3rd visit in 2 weeks! Is there anything I should look out for, maybe things only those 'in the know' would see (such as the Simpsons watching the changing of the guards)? Anyone know if they have any particularly good deals on in the shops or if they have any exclusive sets? Getting quite excited , We are getting annual passes so this will not be my only visit this year! D

Bought a series 4 Mad Scientist. Don't need him but I was in Tescos and decided I wanted to buy some Lego and CM's are the cheapest thing to buy D

Brazil Builds Worlds Tallest Lego Tower
Dazmundo replied to Dazmundo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Interesting that the link I posted claimed it was 25cm taller than the Chilie tower but yours claimed 6m taller! They both have the Brazil tower at 31.19m though so it must be the Chilie tower that they are not so sure about. D -
Since reclaiming my Lego from my parents I have set up a small display on a shelf in our living room However my wife wants to display some pictures of my daughter too So I decided that the space infront of the pictures needed something Lego that was in keeping with photos, so I created my photographer. I'm sure I'm not the first person to do something like this but I was pleased with my effort. C&C welcome D
-
Just saw this doesn't have much detail. Does anyone know anymore? Tower D
-
Switch the arms too then you have one fully dressed and one naked! D
-
Appears to be cheaper if you buy him sealed in his original packaging! http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=93926 D

I can't believe how many Classic Grey & Red knights you have. I have 6 from 677-Knights Procession. They were only in 4 different sets so you must have been doing some collecting D

I love that microscope, looks great. As does the whole MOC obviously D

Mine have a shelf in my book/dvd case. At some point I'd like to build the stands in the correct colours for the packaging but I don't own any orange or lime green 2x4 bricks never mind the 41 that I'd need. D

Dazmundo replied to JopieK's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I took this is Windsor shortly after Gordon Brown left Downing Street. D
