  1. Interesting news. It sounds like we'll be getting a Twilight Witch-King after all. If he has glow in the dark parts, he'll likely be similar to the Army of the Dead. The Smaug sounds slightly disappointing when it comes to size, but if the design is spot on to the character, I think I can forgive the size issue. The last two sets better be BO5A based, with an army builder set in Dale.
  2. Like I said earlier, Kasdan's changes can only be warranted if they serve the story correctly. Giving Boba a defined reason to hate Han would help explain his actions in the OT. Han and Boba have always been considered as arch-nemesi to each other. The funny thing is, there has never really been a good reason for it. Given what info we have from the films, Boba captured Han only because he is a bounty hunter, and there was no other motive behind it. If this new Fett could have previous ties to Solo, and just be using Fett's identity as a disguise, then his appearances throughout the OT (tagging along with Jabba on Mos Eisley as a way of getting a glimpse at Solo, taking the call from Vader and following Solo to Bespin, and sticking around in Jabba's Palace in ROTJ) would have so much more significance within the story as a whole. It makes Boba a much more dynamic character. It just makes so much sense to me.
  3. Ah, perfect! Well, perhaps you could just easily incorporate the new Chima parts into this race somehow. Those Minifigs just look too bloody cool to not take advantage of.
  4. That's makes sense. I have more points to make (like how Ziro the Hutt was blowing smoke from a hookah pipe in the CW movie, as well as how LEGO portrays bank robberies in their City sets), but I fear that this conversation is treading too closely to off-topic territory, so it's not worth keeping it up. We're obviously at an agreement about this. Does anyone think that there's a current hairpiece that may be more accurate for Han? I was thinking perhaps Larry the Barista's hair from the LEGO Movie CMF series, but I'm not sure because I don't own the fig and thus can't test it myself. I just feel like Han deserves a new hairdo, especially because ANH Luke and Leia got updates back in 2011.
  5. You made reference to a race called the Ungolians? What are those? Because that name would be perfect for a humanoid spider race (Ungoliant was the name of the first giant spider that served Morgoth in Middle-Earth, so adopting her name would be a nice nod to Tolkien).
  6. Those were proven to be rumours right from the start. That list originated as a wish list on this site, so the list we found on that tumblr page just threw those in. The person who runs the tumblr even had a disclaimer saying that those sets weren't real. So as of right now, there are no new LOTR sets coming out.
  7. No news. Until we hear more, there's really nothing to discuss. Anyway, everyone seems to be scrambling in the Future LOTR Sets thread due to the distressing lack of info.
  8. While I'm not involved in the Historical world at all, it would be interesting if the Chima Minifigs (particularly the new spider people) were integrated into the stories and guilds. It could lend a while new vein of story lines, which could prove very interesting.
  9. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but chuckle at this. I don't ever remember seeing Greedo doing some lines in the back of the cantina before approaching Han. It's a kids movie! Sure, there's the suggestion of alcohol and such because it's a bar, but it's never explicitly said or shown. Also, we've seen a LEGO Cantina before. Plus the Cantina acted as the hub for two of the LEGO SW games! There was never an issue with this worry that the portrayal of alcohol and drugs is too risky. LEGO has a talent of taking more adult themes in films and putting their own childish spin on it.
  10. I'm surprised to see that no one has been talking about the rumour that Boba Fett's origin could potentially be changed in his spin-off movie. http://comicbook.com/blog/2014/01/17/star-wars-spinoff-rumor-boba-fetts-origin-will-be-altered-dramatically/ Apparently, Lawrence Kasdan hates the PT, and hated how Boba, the once mysterious and intriguing bounty hunter, was reduced to a clone child, removing much of his unique individuality. The plan is basically to have the clone Boba be murdered by some other bounty hunter or something, and this newcomer steals the Mandolorian armour and Slave 1, and takes on Boba's identity, thus breaking the connection between Boba and the PT. At first, I was bothered by this idea. I didn't like it because I felt like Kasdan was willing to drastically change a previously established part of the films just because he's annoyed by it. It seems selfish. However, after some thought, I believe that this move could prove positive in the overall portrayal of Boba in the OT. The only way that this move could improve the character is if the new Boba has a significant reason for his actions. I personally believe that they could take advantage of the fact that (at least to my knowledge), the Boba from the PT has never had an explicit meeting with Han Solo. This means that there's no preexisting basis for Boba's feud with Solo. The new character could be introduced to be an old enemy of Solo's, perhaps introducing him in the inevitable Solo spin-off film. This man could have been beaten by Solo, and been in hiding for some reason. He comes across Boba, and sees the potential anonymity that the armour lends. He takes advantage of this, and steals Boba's identity. With his new identity, this man could then come out of hiding and resume his hunt for Solo. All of this could make Boba's efforts to capture Solo in ESB that much more personal. It's just an interesting theory, but I think I'd be happy with this if Kasdan must change the character.
  11. I think this criticism about Ponda only existing to be maimed is plain ridiculous. It's Star Wars! Toy companies have been making action figures of Ponda for decades, without issue. He's a memorable character because he harasses Luke, which is one of Luke's first interactions with people from outside his own little farmboy life. This scene has significance to the story, and Ponda became infamous because of it. Plus, going by this logic, LEGO shouldn't make Darth Maul because he gets cut in half, Qui-Gon gets stabbed, Anakin gets maimed and burnt like bacon! If LEGO avoided every reference to violence, we wouldn't have LEGO Star Wars. Ponda is likely going to appear because fans and kids will recognize him, and thus will want to buy the set because of his collectibility.
  12. The thing that seems to be forgotten about prelims is that, unless there are new elements being developed for the set, the build itself should for the most part be final. Only slight changes (piece colour, small pieces could be changed) are likely to be made between the prelims and the final released product. It's in the figs that we see the most change. So yes, it's wise to be wary of these images and not feel like they've missed a ton, but on the same token it's not realistic to believe that these prelim versions will have massive overhauls before release. For the most part, the sets themselves are complete.
  13. Awesome work! This is one scene I'd love as a set! Also, that gate is wicked!
  14. Don't forget that the NY Toy Fair is February 16-19th, and FBTB will likely get lots of pics as usual. Very soon we shall have all the info about these sets.
  15. ^ No, the 2011 version that was released with the Falcon and Echo Base sets. http://static1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110606163926/lego/images/c/ce/New_luke.png
  16. Am I the only one who hopes that the Luke in the Cantina set will have dark tan hair? It makes sense for LEGO to give Luke the same hair colour for each film, even if he has different styles (2011 longer style for ANH, classic LEGO hair for ESB and ROTJ make the most sense to me).
  17. What special forces commander? Is this a fig from the Jek-14 related stuff?
  18. That's what I was wondering. Then again, my opinion is that ESB Luke should use the same hair as ROTJ Luke, while ANH Luke can keep the longer hair. Whether or not LEGO thinks the same, I'm not sure. I'm hoping we get Endor Luke, with his green poncho. Covered to other variants, that's the one I think we're least likely to see in a set, and it's more likely to please the most people.
  19. Hopefully we'll be seeing them at the NY Toy Fair in February, 16-19th I think.
  20. I find it a shame that LEGO will likely never touch The Shadows of the Empire. An Outrider set with Dash, his droid (Lobo, Rebo? I can't remember), and some Stormtroopers would be cool. Xizor would also be a neat fig.
  21. Just looked up the dates for the NY Toy Fair. Feb 16-19. Roughly a month until we get to see this new sets up close and personal!
  22. Thanks for the info, Pablo94. I'm very excited to see what the Rebels sets are like. Do people think we should expect to see these sets at the upcoming toy fair in February?
  23. Recently, I noticed I was given a little title thingy under my avatar which says 'Makes structured rants'. Where did that come from? And why?
  24. The one problem with the 2006 ISD was the overall structure. It's a very fragile set, so I'm excited and interested to see how LEGO will have improved on the sturdiness of the ship. Also, I hope that they've integrated an easy way to transport the ship, similar to 2009's Venator Cruiser or the new Republic Gunship.
  25. I think non-CW versions of all the Jedi who currently only exist in that form is needed. While this may be a while off (LEGO may not touch on the PT again for the next year or two), the best way they could achieve it would be by giving us a big D2C Jedi Temple based on all three films.
