Well, the Snowtroopers are completely new, plus one of them is called a 'Snowtrooper Commander', so that adds some kind of variation. Yet, overall, you're right. While the figs selection is fine, the number is too few in both sets. I would've added Tarkin to the Star Detroyer, along with maybe a Death Star Trooper, and added a Rebel soldier on a Tauntaun in the AT-AT. I'm extremely excited to see what sort of figs we get with eth Rebels sets. I wonder if the overall negative feeling towards the goofy cartoon CW faces will influence LEGO to avoid making more figs with that design. It'd be great if LEGO kept the Rebels figs in line with the regular Saga figs. Also, I really hope we get the Inqusitor in ine of the sets. He looks like an intriguing villain, like the Ventress of the Empire.

If only that technology were real. mdelleman, the response you got seems to suggest that we could be in for something. While vague, it could be a solid hint. Then again, the overall future of this theme is looking bleak. To be completely honest, I'd be happy with LEGO ending the theme soon. Give us sets that cover Gondor and the Battle of Pelennor, and I'll be happy. LEGO LOTR and The Hobbit has been very expensive, and with the upcoming Star Wars films and inevitable sets, I'm looking forward to being able to set my sights away from LEGO Middle-Earth in the near future.

The Battle of Endor set came out in 2009, and hasn't been in production for a while now. The name for my set idea was just a placeholder. LEGO would likely have a more suitable name for it. I just thought that it'd be a way to have a set, along with the AT-ST, based on the battle on the forest floor. As for the Hoth BPs, the ones you're referencing came out in 2010. Those Rebels are outdated. The Snowtroopers are getting a complete remake, so it's fitting the Rebels get the same. Sure, LEGO has flogged Hoth like a dead horse, but regardless of that, it's an amazing source for sets. Plus, if this summer gives us a Snowspeeder and AT-AT, won't kids want a cheap way to fill out the battle? The Vader helmet, in the way I imagine it, is a three piece deal. Basically, the breather is a neck piece. The mask covers the face, and the top section of the mask (which covers the top of Vader's head in the films, and fixes the helmet in place) is where the stud fits in, and there could be some little connectors to secure the mask to the breather so it doesn't turn. The helmet would then connect to the top of the mask the same way that Tonto's bird fits in his hair, with just a little rod. Having this level of detail could allow kids to replicate Luke removing Vader's mask with exact movie accuracy. Also, I've always loved Vader toys that have the three parts separate.

Thats a custom. The printing on the torso is identical to the 2004 Greedo, and you were correct in saying thats Farr's head.

Link? Source? Such claims without evidence are deemed poppycock until proven otherwise.

Huh... I didn't know that. Well, I'm fine with three. Also, I just noticed that Vader is in the Star Destroyer (duh ). Hopefully he'll be new in some way!

I've been doing some thinking about what sets deserve a serious revamp. Over the past few years, TLG has done a good job of covering the PT, with plenty of good TPM sets, the AOTC wave, and now the ROTS-heavy 2014 winter wave. Given what we are going to see in the summer, it is obvious LEGO has switched gears and they're focusing on the OT. So, if the 2015 winter wave were to be the last chance before Ep 7 that we could get some seriously awesome OT sets, this is my list (following the size and price pattern of this year's winter wave): The Battle Packs Imperial Snowtroopers - includes three Snowtroopers and one AT-AT pilot. The build could include the boring old speeder bike, as well as a probe droid. Hoth Rebels - includes two updated Hoth Rebel soldiers, one Hoth Rebel technician, and maybe a Pilot (or just have three soldiers and the technician). The build includes one dish turret and one white tower turret (or one turret, either version, and some sort of trench thing). And maybe a Tauntaun. Price - $16 Medium Sized Sets ($20-$35) $20-$25 Imperial AT-ST - includes Chewbacca and an AT-ST driver. The build is pretty self explanatory. $20-$25 Battle of Endor - includes Han (trench coat, either printed or a special cloth piece), Leia (Endor outfit), two Stormtroopers, one Scout trooper, and maybe an Ewok. Build includes speeder bike, a tree (as tall as the AT-ST) with a swinging vine, and a title catapult or something. Basically the Battle of Saleucami of that wave. Meant to be combined with the AT-ST. $20-$25 Twin-pod Cloud Car - includes one Cloud Car pilot and Han (updated blue jacket and brown pants print). Build is the ship itself. $35 Yoda's Hut - includes Yoda (OT outfit), Luke (training outfit), and R2 (muddy). Build includes the hut, with interior details, some of Luke's training stuff, and a buildable swamp monster (maybe, I'm a little iffy on that idea, but it'd be cool). Two more sets based on the Rebels TV show. Larger Sets ($45-$60) $45 Tie Bomber - includes Tie Pilot and Captain Needa. Build is the ship itself. $50 Imperial Shuttle - includes Luke (Ewok Village version, add leg printing), Emperor Palpatine (revamp of the current OT Palpatine), Vader (complete overhaul, like I've explained before), Moff Jerjerrod. Build is the ship itself. $50 X-Wing Starfighter - includes Luke (pilot outfit), R2, 3PO (leg printing), General Dodonna. Build is the ship itself. Change the dolour scheme to light grey rather than white. White has never been accurate. $50-$60 Rebels set. Exclusive Cloud City - includes Luke (Bespin outfit, new battle-damaged face print with scars), Lando (Bespin outfit), Han (white shirt and brown pants, as well as carbonite version), Leia (Bespin prisoner outfit), Chewie (perhaps a special mold with 3PO on his back, but that might be too expensive), Vader, Boba Fett, two Bespin Guards, two Stormtroopers, one Imperial Officer (grey uniform), two Ugnaughts. There might be more that could be there, but these seem like the essentials. The build could be a mix of the Death Star and the Ewok Village. Perhaps there could be a stand that could hold the set in place by the pinnacle at the bottom of the city (where Luke could hang from). Then the set could have a couple levels, with rooms such as the dining hall, prison cells, and carbon freezing chamber on one floor, and the droid scavenge room, along with the hallway, window and walkway where Luke and Vader duel. I don't really have a distinct visual in my head, but regardless, LEGO would do a stellar job, as always. So thats my ideal list for the 2015 winter wave. I think it does a decent job of covering what needs to be remade, as well as gives us the new figs and new versions of characters we've always wanted. Sure, some of it sounds like a serious wish list, and I don't really like the Tie Bomber idea, but I wanted to make it seem realistic, yet still fantastic. After this wave, I'd be really happy if LEGO gave us only Ep 7 sets the following wave.

I never looked at it that way, but that makes absolute sense. Hopefully the winter 2015 wave will give us some updated ROTJ sets, since this year seems pretty ANH/ESB heavy. Also, aren't we in store for a new, big Sandcrawler? There's a strong chance for new Jawas, Tuskens, Owen and Beru, and the droids. Perhaps we'll even see a Bantha?

Would it hurt you if the Star Wars franchise would stop right now?
Fives replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That's my point. Star Wars will never lose its relevance, especially now that Disney has it under their massive umbrella. When it comes to hypotheticals like this, I can't help but have the influence of reality impact my answer. -
I have a strong feeling that the current price we've been told for the Cantina is false. Judging from what is included in the set, I'd think that at least $80-$90 is more accurate a price tag. Also, if the 8 fig count is correct, than $70 is way too little for that many figs, new or otherwise. Also, I really doubt LEGO would make a battle pack style add-on set based on extra Cantina patrons. Sets that size are usually reserved for BPs only, and something slightly bigger, perhaps $30, would cause the wave to not be diverse enough. But this discussion train edges too close to wish-lists and future set talk, so I'll just stop now. Are the prices we have heard supposed to be in USD? Because if that is the case, then they'll be at least 5-10% more expensive here in Canada.

If the Black Arrow and Windlance are flick-fire, that'd be lame. LEGO needs to be clever and create a unique function. A spring-loaded weapon, like the new spring-loaded weapons seen in the new Star Wars sets, with a special Black Arrow piece would be cool. Alas, knowing LEGO's track record, we're probably in for a flick-fire Windlance with a black missile. Yippee...
-
I guess, but it would still be a nice touch. I suppose leg prints are far more important. Also, I'll make some rough sketches of what I mean for the helmet. I'll hopefully have those up by the weekend.

Aren't the three Bith band members identical in appearance? Even if they aren't, I doubt LEGO will bother to make the distinction. Kids aren't aware (heck, I'm not aware).

Fives replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The day that LEGO and Star Wars part ways is the day that Star Wars becomes irrelevant in society and pop culture. However, in this hypoothetical situation, I would be both extremely upset and outraged, but also thankful for everything we have seen. While there are so many sets and figs I'd like to see updated, I wouldn't be completely ruined if it didn't happen. Overall, I tend to not like to entertain this idea, as it takes me down a complicated train of thought. -
Well, to my memory, they called the Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon figs from 2012's Gungan Sub new, even though they only had newer prints. And I don't think that's the only example. Maybe LEGO is changing up how they label 'new' figs, but I think the more thy can call new, the more people will buy sets.
-
Those were some great sets, but I bet that Disney may have quelled any further production of those sets. They likely want LEGO to focus their energy and resources on the upcoming show and films. Still, even with the few sets we got, SWTOR gave us some stellar builds and figs.
-
Maybe that's they tactic, but I really doubt it'd work if there are so many named figs, as well as the Landspeeder. Fans are more likely to just buy one set and Bricklink a third Bith to finish the band. If there's only two Bith, that's definitely my plan. Also, I feel like the Star Destroyer was an amazing chance for a new Tarkin that LEGO seems to have just let slip by. I'll oily get the set eventually, but the lack of an updated named character makes the set much less desirable for me. On another note, where have the new winter wave sets started to appear? I haven't had any luck yet here in Toronto, but my local Toys R Us told me February when I inquired about one of the new sets, so the wait isn't too much longer.

Of course a redesign of Greedo counts as new. He's not been in a set for 10 years, so he'll be all new prints and colours, along with the evident new head. Heck, if the give Luke back printing he'd be new. Ben is new, if they've updated since 2011. When there are, say, new Clones, and we get two in one set, they just say Clone Trooper x2 with the big orange NEW stamp above the fig. That'll likely be the case for the Bith. That means that Greedo should have a NEW stamp as well, and I hope Ponda Babba is the last new fig. My ideal fig list for this set (and I believe it's very likely): Luke, Ben, Han, Sandtrooper, Greedo, Bith x3, Ponda Babba. That's essentially three new figs, and 9 figs total, along with the new molded Dewback. Knowing that LEGO is aware of how badly the fans have wanted a decent Cantina for years, and how much we love more alien pieces, I really doubt they'd waste fig slots with humans like Wuher. They'll only give us the main human heroes, and then make the rest new aliens we've never seen before. That way, they'll have given the widest variety of plausible new pieces to please the most fans possible. It just makes sense.

He's the bartender at the Mos Eisley Cantina. While he would be a cool fig to get, he's easier to make a custom of rather than a Bith, so I'm not itching to get him in the set.

Seeing the level of detail LEGO is now going to with their figs this year (new Han, Chewie, even the leg printing on the Rebel and Imperial pilots is stellar), I think its high time that we see some more major OT characters get this treatment. My list: Vader (new leg, back, and back-of-head printing, along with anew breather/mask/helmet as three separate pieces) The Emperor (new face that matches how his new PT versions look, and new body and leg printing) Princess Leia ANH (updated body print, back print, new leg print) 3PO (new leg printing) Stormtrooper (remodel the helmet, much like the new Phase 2 Clone helmet, so the helmet can turn around on the neck without interruption) Bespin Luke (complete overhaul on the old fig) Bespin Lando (same as the Luke fig) I bet there are more that people would like to see, but these ones seem to pop out most importantly in my mind (especially Vader; the current helmet, while decent, is going out of style next to all the new detailed pieces).

I think we're in desperate need of an updated System scale Imperial Shuttle. If I had been in the place of the design team, I would've altered the Death Star Troopers BP from this year to include two Death Star Gunners and two Death Star Troopers, rather than two Royal Guards. Instead, shift those two figs to be included in a Shuttle set, along with three new figs: Vader (updated printing, back printing, leg printing, new helmet with breather/mask/helmet as three separate parts), Luke (same as the Ewok Willage one, maybe with a new face print), and the Emperor (new face print, body print, leg print). Maybe throw in Mof Jerjerrod for good measure. The set itself would just be the Shuttle, but could be based on the numerous scenes in ROTJ that feature the iconic ship. The back of the box could show Jerjerrod greeting Vader, Vader greeting Palpatine, Luke and Vader dueling, and Luke removing Vader's mask at the back of the ship. It would be a great chance to get some much needed updates of the two main Sith Lords, along with a revamp of a set that hasn't been in System scale for nearly 10 years. Perhaps this could be a set in the 2015 winter wave?
-
I'm most excited to see what change they've made to the Rodian head; what warranted LEGO to use such a random placeholder piece? Perhaps Greedo will be able to turn his head without his snout being bellow his neckline.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Fives replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Its a nice fig, but unless you're interested in the whole set, just get the fig online. -
Am I the only one who is desperately hoping for a light grey version of either the Ep 3 Obi-Wan hair or the new Dooku hair to be used for the updated Ben? The plain classic LEGO hair seems out of style for these updated figs. Especially Han. LEGO needs to do something there. EDIT: Also, I'm not sure if all the sets are up on all of the LEGO Star Wars sites, but they are for the US, and it seems like the Han in the Falcon Microfighter is completely new, except for the hair. http://cache.lego.com/r/www/r/starwars/-/media/franchises/lego%20starwars/products/75030/prod_minifig_main_retina_1224x688_75030.jpg?l.r=411004456 Heres a link to the rest of the products page on the site. Lots of goodies to see. http://www.lego.com/en-us/starwars/products Sorry if this is old news.

Wow, this is sheer genius! Everything looks incredible! Great work!
