  1. I find it a bit careless on the designer's part not to take notice of things like skin tone, etc. ...Unless it's an inventory thing, and they are forced to use whatever parts they already have just to get rid of them, which would explain things like the tan pieces in the newest hoth set. On an unrelated matter, I was wondering if the new Luggabeast model will somehow incorporate the fact that the actual thing is part animal, part armor/machine...I really wish it they would use some kind of dewback type figure..though it's seems kind hard to pull that off.
  2. Dang it! I am also located overseas, and the px store here only had a couple of sets, and they where ridiculously overpriced. They had the flash speeder for $60!!! Nearly had a stroke when they told me the price, cause I thought px stores weren't supposed to jack up prices...
  3. OH sure talking about the pricing of sets distracts from the purpose of this thread, but a page and a half of discussing whether or not Snoke is Plagueis is completely relevant... Anyway, do you guys believe that NYTF will reveal any news regarding this year's UCS sets?
  4. Hey just a quick question if you don't mind. When you say base exchange do you mean like an overseas PX store? Thanks!
  5. Just to clarify my intentions when discussing the pricing of sets. I was merely commenting on the fact that TLG has significantly increased the price threshold when introducing newer models (considering that many of them are rehashed, inferior versions). I understand that certain countries pay a lot more than we do in the US, and it sucks. Again, I was just commenting on the overall trend. I feel that pricing is a very significant part of the whole LEGO experience; higher prices means that fewer people can afford them and thus fewer people have the opportunity to enjoy this experience. If you can't enjoy something what's the point of having discussions on the subject. Just....saying I promise these were my last thoughts on this topic.
  6. I apologize for veering off It just seems that the pricing is reaching a point where it affects the discussion of the sets. But I must respect the council's wishes . Now regarding Rex's AT-TE, I wonder if the clones come with special printing so that they can be distinguished. It's a shame their helmets aren't included, especially since they did sort of feature considerably on those couple of episodes...
  7. the 400 piece count translates to 20 cents per piece, that's nearly double the 10-12 cents per piece norm we've had for so many years. Even at 500, we have 16 cents per piece...that's still too much. But I guess in the end it doesn't matter, that's how S&D works...and as long as cheaper themes sell enough sets to offset losses, prices for star wars sets will remain this high. It's just sad cause in the end for most of us, it comes down to only affording a max of 2-3 sets a year. Now regarding the sets themselves, I would love to get my hands on the turbo tank (I've missed all previous versions), as well as the TIE and a wing set. As for the rest of them I'll probably wait them out and look them up on the secondary market.
  8. When you compare those prices for regular sets with the UCS Slave 1, $199 is a real bargain. I am afraid to even think what future UCS sets will cost.
  9. I am starting to get the sense that the TFA hype is not the only factor driving prices up every time. With many so many projects that TLG has kick-started (animated shows, ideas, special themes, knights..e.t.c), it seems that the star wars theme is set up to bare the full force of potential flops. I mean...for the life of me I cannot explain the price tag on certain sets such as Encounter on Jakku. WAY too much! Maybe TLG is starting to overextend itself again?? I could be way off, of course.
  10. "There are two different offers for the polybag in the US as far as I know. One is a LEGOLAND Florida special offer where purchases of $35 or more from September 7 to September 28 will net you on of these polybags. The other offer hasn’t been officially announced yet but I heard that it will be available at Toys R Us with a certain purchase amount in November. - See more at: http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-star-wars-the-force-awakens-c-3po-5002948-minifigure-polybag/#sthash.FxklBrjT.dpuf"
  11. Just saw the 2014 MTT with a retiring soon label on the lego shop. I guess TLG is getting rid of non sellers a lot faster than it used to.
  12. looks more like MF with albinism. But yea I would be interested to see the finished product in the end. Who knows, I might end up loving it PS: Sry about the angry post above, didn't read that you were starting a new thread
  13. Can we all just agree to disagree and get on with it...NYCC 2015 is happening (no star wars stuff so far :( ) and nobody in this thread gives a hoot...white/grey whatever, who cares?!? make a different thread and argue all you want there! sorry didn't mean to rage
  14. Isn't it kinda the point of a rumors thread to get us all "antcy in the pantcy"? we wants new ucs sets and we wants them now! :D
  15. Exactly! Slave 1 plus Hoth Base and my bank account would waive a white flag! On a not so side note, and I apologize if this goes a bit off the 2015 thread topic, but I have the feeling that what everyone thought would be a UCS Hoth set, is actually the leaked 2016 Hoth attack set (maybe that's what the video that Lego released actually showed).
  16. Yeah..it would make a lot of sense for them to just focus on TFA stuff for the time being. Maybe they are waiting to see how people react to the movie and then capitalize on that. Don't get me wrong, I'd like nothing more than another giant set to waste my money on (especially one based on OT) but I guess I wouldn't mind waiting for the hoth set, if that means we get sets based on new material.
  17. So I guess hoth echo base was either scrapped or putt off for next year. It would make sense for TLG to schedule a release for a play-set style UCS right before Christmas, and since that's likely not gonna happen, my bet would be on a May release, just as kids are getting off from school.
