  1. Thanks guys. Sorry, I don't have a parts list or an LDD file to share. But really, the only critical things you would need are: Stand arm: 12 pcs 1x2x5 Trans-Clear Bricks Top platform: 1 pc 4x6 Plate 1 pc 4x4 Plate 2 pcs 1x4 Tile 4 pcs 2x2 Tile OR 2 pcs 2x4 Tile Base: 1 pc Plate (whatever size, but 8x8 would be the recommended minimum. I use a 16x16 mainly for decorative purposes) Everything else, you can be as creative as you want I just wanted to reiterate once more that while this isn't as sturdy as a technic-based stand, you need not worry about it collapsing on itself even under reasonable shaking. It looks nicer than a technic stand too IMO. BTW, I tried rearranging the layout of the stand a bit this morning so that it's more like a single column. While I think this looks better, it also looks kinda weird when the Shuttle isn't placed on it because it looks like a phallic symbol LOL...
  2. The stand is actually sturdier than one might think. I've tried rocking and twisting it rather vigorously with the shuttle on top and it holds up well with very little wobble. The weight of the shuttle plays a big part in keeping the bricks together. Of course the stand is not as sturdy as one made out of technic, but since I'm just displaying it at a flat angle, I don't really need it to have that level of sturdiness. I prefer to use bricks because they're much less visible compared to technic liftarms (even the clear ones). I also like the convenience of being easily able to remove the stand arm and use the base by itself for the shuttle's landing mode. I was just really sharing the stand I was using, and not really recommending that anyone copy it. It's more of a proof of concept for the TC since I saw that he initially wanted to use clear bricks in his stand rather than technic.
  3. I always use the stickers. I don't see the point in not using them for fear of them eventually peeling off. Besides, if and when they do start peeling away, I can just take them off entirely and it'll look no different than those where stickers were never applied at all. But at least I would have gotten to enjoy it with all the stickers applied for a good amount of time. I think that's better than just keeping the stickers stored somewhere when they would eventually deteriorate anyway.
  4. What program is used to open these files? Where can I get one? Thanks.
  5. This is my custom stand. No technic pieces and nothing too fancy. But it holds it up nicely, not that distracting, and can also be used in landed mode just by pulling off the top part.
  6. Thanks, Schwizzle! I followed your idea about placing tiles over the Tydirium and it does look much sleeker now. I haven't touched the wings though as my local seller doesn't have any white 1x6 tiles in stock. One mod idea that I would like to share in making the Tydirium look even better (at least in my opinion) is changing the color of the 2x6 light grey plates under the trans-blue engine tiles. I couldn't understand why the designer opted to use light grey plates for these. Moreover, using light grey plates underneath made the trans-clear tiles look rather dull and not very visually appealing. So I replaced the two 2x6 light gray plates with two 2x6 white plates and here is the end result: I believe the engines look like they're glowing brighter now and the color looks more consistent. Let me know what you think
  7. Thank you everyone for your kind words. You guys seem to be a great community! Sorry, I didn't think of that. But I guess I should've encircled the 2 parts I added for more clarity. Thanks for explaining the 2 parts I added. I'm really glad that some people were able to benefit from this simple mod.
  8. Hello, I've just recently got back into buying Lego again after 20+ years, and it was the Star Wars theme that pulled me back. Needless to say, I am a true noob when it comes to making mods (and MOCs are out of the question). Anyway, I got myself the ISD 75055 and while I really love it, it bothered me that the top portion was not solidly attached onto anything and could slide around freely (especially when swooshing). I tried searching for a solution online, but couldn't find any (maybe because it was already so obvious and therefore no one felt the need to be publish one). So with the best of my own extremely meager abilities, here's the solution I came up with (it's basically just 2 parts placed on the surface): With those 2 parts in place, I can now easily attach the top portion to the main ISD body and keep it from sliding around. Another benefit is that having the top part attach in this manner keeps the 2 halves of the main body perfectly aligned with the center, satisfying my OCD. That's all! Again, I realize that this is a super simple mod and maybe it's not even worthy of having a topic. But I guess I wanted to share it anyway since a couple of the reviews I watched/read on the 75055 ISD mentioned this issue. Please do not be too harsh on me if this mod seems like a simple no-brainer...
  9. Hi everyone. New member here. I just bought my first Lego again after 20+ years and the UCS Slave 1 is what pulled me back. I really love the look, build, engineering and how sturdy it is. Plus it is also in true minifigure scale. Anyway, I've had it on display for a few days now and noticed that the wings are drooping a little. They're very close to touching the red parts on the side when rotating. I wanted to ask if anyone else has this issue or if I should be concerned that over time, the Lego rods supporting the wings will warp/bend from the weight. And is it safe to leave it on its stand over extended periods of time (years) without worrying if the bricks will eventually deform from the weight or come apart?
