Super Mario 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Set listing leaks for 2HY, and we have 3 $50 sets with suspiciously low part counts... Sorry to everyone expecting things to change with the retiring sets, but it looks like Lego is sticking with the digi-figs. Given that they are retiring everything, I wonder if this is a 2.0 kind of thing. Very torn if it is, since I'm curious to see what else they could add, but I also don't like the idea of having to re-buy the starter courses for the newest sets to be compatible. -

Eh, we got punisher in the Daily Bugle. He's one of Marvel's most violent and mature characters. I think if we get Deadpool this year, it'll be in the x-mansion. Probably another comic outfit though. -
Sonic the Hedgehog - Rumours and Discussion

Maybe Ok, this actually sounds pretty good. Hopefully the knuckles set is a better build this time around, also very happy to see that the Master Emerald is coming in another set. Not expecting much from the boat honestly. Very exciting to finally see Super Sonic though! Not surprised he's in the most expensive set, but what does surprise me is the subject matter. I quickly looked up the Egg Drillster, and I can't imagine how Lego could manage to make a $100 set from that thing. Maybe it's like the $100 set from last year, and it has a lot of terrain bits? On the subject of Super Sonic, I'm expecting him to reuse the shadow head piece, since they have similar shaping. As for any other new figs we might get, no clue. Maybe Big the Cat is fishing with Tails on his boat -
Very small wave it seems. Not too surprising given we're getting a March wave too. The only ones that sound interesting to me are the Tournament Arena, Cole's Titan Dragon Mech, and the Source Dragon of Fire. I've had this idea of a Ninjago mech that can transform into a dragon, so I'm hoping that's what Cole's mech will be? I also want to see how a dragon of that scale and parts count looks and feels, that's exciting. As for the Tournament Arena, I just hope it has plenty of figures and a good arena build. Are we expecting new villains for these? Or is it just more wolf warriors? From my understanding, the whole year is dedicated to DR season 2, but I haven't seen anything to confirm we're getting the same villains throughout. Also curious to see if the climber suits continue or if we get new ones. Maybe the villains will also get new variants, maybe some new generals? I would probably prefer that the sets use the same minifigs (makes them easier to collect) but I suspect they'll be changing things up like they do every wave.

Ok, I like a lot of the things from this summer wave! The Surtur set is a very pleasant surprise! I hope this means we'll get more sets from different films in the future, rather than just focusing on the Avengers and Iron Man movies. I'm expecting at best Thor and Hela, but wouldn't be surprised if it's just Thor. Exciting either way! The Iron Legion vs Ultron Sentry battle back also sounds great, even if it doesn't make sense given that they never interacted in the film. This seems like a direct response to the lack of iron legion drones in the tower, and also a good way for people to army build the ultron drones. I'm hoping it's at least two of each, that would probably be ideal given the price. The Avengers Battle is certainly vague. Given it seems to be based on the first Avengers, there really isn't much in terms of figures that we haven't gotten already, so I suspect a few reuses from the tower will show up. As for the build, no clue. Maybe we finally get a mini fig scale leviathan? I'm very glad to see we're getting an AoU final battle set! This is probably the most fitting of all the final battles for the black base diorama style, given that the location of the battle is a circular building anyways. I'm hoping it feels more substantial than the two we've gotten so far, but I think I'm expecting too much given the amount of figures that will probably be included. I suspect the only bad guy here will be Ultron so that people are more compelled to get the battle pack, so I hope most of the figure selection is dedicated to the Avengers that we haven't yet gotten updated AoU outfits for. I'm also curious as to how Lego will make Ultron this time around, will they just use a printed head? Use the one piece Iron Man helmet? Or bring back the 2015 parts? (probably not the last one) The large scale Milano is great for the fans who've wanted one, but I'll probably pass. Maybe we'll finally get a new Drax with printed arms? Also would be neat to see if they bring back Star Lord's helmet. The midi-scale helicarrier could be great, but I don't like the small parts count. Hopefully it doesn't seem too overpriced. As for what I'd realistically pick up, probably the Surtur set, the battle pack, and either of the Avengers sets. I never got any of the old AoU sets, so I'll probably be drawn to that one, but I don't want to rule out whatever the other one could be yet. Pretty exciting wave overall! -

Yeah, super suspicious about the April 2024 release date. However, the set sounds great! I'm so glad we're actually getting another Red Hulk, hopefully a summer set includes the Avengers Tower Hulk (or a different one, maybe an angry face?) so the new style is more accessible to everyone. -
[MOC] DreamZzz Santa's Sleigh
The_Fiery_Rooster replied to The_Fiery_Rooster's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh yeah, that was one of the first things I knew I was going to add. Thanks! -
Merry Christmas! Back in late November I had an idea for a holiday themed model, and I finished it just in time! It made sense for Santa to be a part of the DreamZzz world, and I wanted to make something more fantastical than many of Lego's own Christmas models. I'm very glad with how this turned out! The model has 959 parts, and 3/4 different builds. There's a small hideout for the villain, a nightmare monster present, Santa's sleigh, and the reindeer. It was very fun to work out the different portions of the model, and I'm very happy how this turned out. As all DreamZzz sets do, this one has an alternate model! It was quite a challenge to make sure both models were stable and strong while minimizing the extra parts needed. There's also the base model, which I wanted to make sure captured the basics of the Sleigh without the extra bits. There's also an interior to the sleigh with the toys and a large hourglass, and the villain hideout also has a prison cell inside. There's five minifigs included, Mateo, Zoey, Santa Claus, and elf, and Dark Frost. It took me a while to come up with a festive nightmare villain. At first I wanted to do something like the Grinch or Crampus, but the color scheme was too garish to make it work. There's also a candy cane staff for Santa which includes the hourglass, as well as the Naughty/nice list, which has been stolen by Dark Frost. I liked the idea of the list being absurdly long, and the 2x3 tile with clips was perfect to make it work. Finally, I made a 360 video so you can see all the details, including the wreath on the back of the sleigh. (you'll have to click on the link to watch it) https://bricksafe.com/files/The_Fiery_Rooster/moc/santa-dreamzzz/360 Video.mp4 I very much enjoyed making this, and I hope you enjoyed it too! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Now that we've seen the whole wave, I think I like more than I dislike. The Warbird, both mechs, and the sandman sets are great. The Blackbird is good other than the price and the less desirable Magneto design. The 2 spiderman sets I'm very torn on, I like the bike build better but like the venom goblin better. I want to try something for the venom Ock fig though. If you just put the generic venom head and this hairpiece (https://brickset.com/parts/6344417) it would look better than it currently does. Well, now we just wait for the official reveal to get more details. -

I was expecting a new Venom minifig, but I'm surprised to see the 2021 Miles here. I never got that figure, so that's good news for me, though it seems they dropped the dual molded legs he had. The build itself looks pretty good, but I suspect the dark grey limbs will look pretty rough in person. Honestly, both of these mechs are pretty good, but I think the War Machine one wins between the 2. Only 2 sets left now! -

Honestly, for the number of pieces it's a really good size, and it looks great too! My biggest qualm is the design for Magneto, but it comes from Xmen 97 so I don't think Lego had a choice for that one. Honestly, so far this marvel wave is looking pretty good, hopefully the remaining sets don't disappoint. -

Oof, venom ock is rough. The venom face and his normal face realy clash, and it really doesn't have enough 'venom' for it to work. Venom goblin, on the other hand, looks much better. They leaned much further into the venom look, and even gave him a unique venom face design rather than reusing the existing one like ock does. Shame the set he comes in probably won't be too good (if it is a recolor of the morbius set) The war machine mech actually looks great, the chunkier design these newer mechs has really fit the character, and it has a lot more detail than this year's offering. Makes me excited to see venom's. -

Sandman looks great, the face especially is less cursed than I thought when we heard it would use the face plate. I think it's because Lego made it look more monstrous and less human, although it is strange to see it's mostly dark tan. Lizard is also pretty good, for some reason I was expecting smaller eyes so it looks a little weird, but it's definitely high quality. My only problem is the price, I'm not sure it's a good value or not. It costs about the same as the buildable figures, but the main build is only half of one. Does the stand have the same value as the legs would have? I'm not sure about that yet. I also don't like the combo, I thought it would use the axle connectors under the scaffolds. Inside the head just doesn't feel right, so I might mod it to expand the base and put it on the right side. We'll see. -

Wow, I'm surprised how much I like the Warbird. It looks pretty sizable for $35, and I dig the big chunky guns. The colors are nice too, and accurate to boot. Still not sure I'll pick this up, but I hope the other sets are like this! Hopefully we see the rest of them soon. Any idea on where the image came from? Maybe we can have another try with the instructions... -
I like the legs and the torso, but the arms are very disappointing. Why don't the main arms have elbow joints? The use of those limb pieces also makes the forearms look absurdly short too. I don't like how the hook works look with the weird asymmetry, and I suspect they're rather stiff given they're built around technic beams. Oh well, I have enough big mechs already.
-
I'm currently reverse-engineering the mechs in Mecabricks and I remember seeing an image in someone's Instagram story of the underside of the upper torso of Cole's mech? It was to show of the new piece, but I can't find the pic anywhere, and I don't have a twitter account to search on there. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Not wrong. I think a lot of the IRL objects or character sets fall into that category. Why buy a less functional, worse looking ,and sometimes more expensive version of something when you can get the 'real thing' instead? As I see it, Lego is banking on the novelty of 'it's made of Lego' and the 'relaxing building experience' to entice customers. I think we can agree how good it looks is subjective, but the fact that an actual action figure would look much better is far more objective. I just don't think that's the kind of market Lego wants to target with these. Still feel this one is up to par with a lot of the other ones Lego has made, like baby Groot or that Yoda from a few years ago. Maybe I'm just not seeing what you guys are? The face has some mechanical vibes, but other than that it has good expressiveness and color blocking. Whatever, not like I'm going to buy this anyways. -

Honestly, don't get all the Rocket hate. Considering what it is, I think it looks pretty good. Sad it doesn't have anything in the instructions though. -
Duck Bricks said in the comments that the Ras mech is the side build of the Kai mech set, the designer misspoke. I like that these suits are explicitly mech suits, it makes sense why they look the way they do. It also works in a meta sense given that neither the Dragons Rising suits or climber suits would fit in the mechs without removing the shoulder armor, which doesn’t work with those hoods. It just makes it weirder that Sora doesn’t get one. I guess her outfit is technical enough anyways? Also, the comment about Zane’s lack of mech is intriguing, given that Nya doesn’t have one either. Maybe a future set? The comments about the Cole mech show how much effort goes into these things, with the attention to detail of including the lava arms and then the show taking that design for his stone form. It seems nothing is a throwaway to the set designers or the show runners. Also I’m glad they noticed that just getting mechs for one half of the year is disappointing, which makes me very excited to see the march sets.

I really like what I'm seeing with these sets! The $20 mechs surprise me with how substantial they are for the price, and the Master Dragon feels very unique with the hat, beard, and sword in the tail. It gives me Dark Souls vibes honestly. Of the mechs, Cole's might be my favorite, the extra bulk makes it look great. I also noticed the hammer has 2 connectors on it, but I doubt the mech can hold it in 2 hands out of the box. I noticed something very funny though. If you look, Jay's dinky mech actually has more articulation that the bigger ones, given that it has wrists and the others don't. I'm tempted to try to add that to the larger ones, at least wrist rotation.

I just saw this on Instagram, and I felt it's very pertinent to what's going on right now. Sadly, it's pretty bad news. I had forgotten about this, but turns out this year's January Star Wars sets weren't revealed until December 15th, (https://brickset.com/article/86955/2023-star-wars-sets-officially-revealed!) so it could actually be about 2 weeks until we see anything, if they don't leak beforehand, Oof. -

Not in Europe, Infinity Saga sets released June 1st in the rest of the world. I'm not talking about the release anyways, I'm talking about when Lego officially revealed them. Take a look for yourself (https://brickset.com/article/59351/stop-press!-daily-bugle-revealed! Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Problem is, there was a reason for it. Lego wanted to reveal those sets alongside the Daily Bugle, so they delayed their reveal to line up with it. The same thing happened this year with Ninjago's summer wave and Ninjago City Markets, they were revealed later to coincide with their respective D2C. As for this wave, however, there isn't any Marvel D2C for January, so there really isn't a good reason for the long wait. Given that someone found the Rocket set, they are still set to release in January, so it truly is a mystery.
