LEGO Design Team – Open Call For Theme Ideas!
soundwave_sw replied to Masked Builder's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am very excited to offer up some ideas and hopefully they get chosen. I would love to recieve free sets, factory tours, royalties, etc, but I will be submitting my theme idea with no expectation of compensation and anything that might come my way is just a bonus. A memeber of my LUG was a co-creator of the Mindcraft Cussoo project. Normally he would have recieved a royalty of the sales which have been beyond TLC expectations but at the beginning of the Cussoo procedure it was agreed that the proceeds would go to charity as part of the license deal. my friend did get a few copies of the sets he helped create but wont get any money from his labors. The pride and recognition from being a creator have probably exceeded his aspirations. I would love to be able to say I came up with an idea like Ninjago but on the same token, i feel bad for the creator of Galidor. Hopefully if a theme is chosen, the creator will be proud of their accomplishments and if anything else comes their way, bonus! Sir Nagek, my feedback for you would be to trim the US Military angle as TLC won't touch modern military themes and being "American" might be too narrow as opposed to a generic affiliation Play Well, -
Better late than never.... When this model was first posted I was really impressed. I used the instructions to build my own version. Due to my inventory, I had to cheat and tweak a few small details. I was very happy with the outcome. I will probaly add some closer up pics in the future. Since I recently used this model in a public display and posted pictures, I wanted to give credit where it is due. Thanks Zetovince for sharing your instructions. Play well,

The theatre that came with the town plan seems to have already fallen in this catagorey. Lego would never never never re do a set that has been done before.........except for every 5 years if you collect Star wars or city. How about a bowling alley?

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
soundwave_sw replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Please let it be another Christmas train! or a redux of the first one. -
Sounds like Hodgson has some issues with the team. He was too skilled to keep as a 3rd line center behind Sedin & Kesler. Hopefully Kassian can live up to expectations. Luongo has 10 years remaining with a 5.3 cap hit. his last 4 years are only 3.3, 1.6, 1.0, & 1.0 million respectively. It should be pretty easy to buy him out. He is/was my favorite Canuck for a while and I think he has a lot of good years left. He should be able to fill a hole on another team and give them some playoff hope. I think he's handled the whole situation with class. I was hopeing to build a Lego statue of him holding the cup, but it looks like i will have to keep waiting and find another Canuck favorite.

4 Wide Trains + 4 Wide Track + PF = ?
soundwave_sw replied to soundwave_sw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks AussieJimbo, That is exactly what i was hopeing for. I was aiming for a similar sized train. Are both engines necessary or can a single engine do the job? -
Hi All, I am going to attempt to build a 4-5 stud wide micro scale train that will be compatible with the narrow gauge 4 wide track. To complicate matters I am also going to try to add in Power Functions motor and battery box. I havn't been able to find any evidence of anyone else doing this. Have any of you attempted this or seen it done? I have a basic idea in my mind how it may look and turn out but i am open to any suggestions or tips. I'll post some pics and keep this thread updated once i start the project.

That was me. I picked one up on opening day. I didnt any others. I am willing to trade or sell if anyone really needs it.

I would love this to be true but put me in the skeptical catagorey as well. The uniforms look like Bejing to me. There are no new molds just repaints. Dealing with the Olympic logos is extremely difficult and expensive for any company to get a license. I dont know if Lego would go through with it for such a limited product. Having said that, there is recent precident with Lego giving British Airways the recent exclusive airplane set. It is concevable that the Olympic connection began in 2010 for the winter games as many of the early figs were for winter sports. Perhaps the Olympics were the intended goal but the licensing couldnt be done in time. Play Well

Great job Tatertots. The details, colors, and style are all well done. Good luck in the contest. Play Well

This is a very nice entry Darkblane. I like the building and details you put into it. The minifig selection is well done. Great job on the pictures. I agree with the others that bicycles and winter dont match well. Perhaps the store can sell Skidoo's in the winter? Full points for originality!

keep in mind the building is 120 years old so the technology is appropiate. Even though it is not the most aestheticaly pleaseing feature, I have to give props to Lego for being able to include a moving functional eleavator. I also really like the open lobby space

This is a very nice train station Cava. I like the idea of the glowing tiles to make sure the passengers don't slip off the edge! The "winter villiage" decal is a nice touch. I wonder what the station is called during the summer This should make a nice addition to the Christmas train. good luck in the contest! Play Well

The building design looks really nice. I like the fact that it is larger to suit its purpose. I also would like to see the interior and some high res pics of the exterior. (are there any?) The minifigs look great. However, I am the only one that is not a fan of the color? I am happy to get more pieces of a rare color but i don't think it looks great on this building. I will likely substitute the orange/nuget with either a darker color (a la Town Plan) or perhaps a more subtle color. What do you think?

There hasnt been an official announcement yet, but there is evidence of the store being located in Oakridge mall. There is advertisement on Craigslist for the manager position mentioning Oakridge. This topic is very active on our vlc.ca forum. "Allow myself to introduce......myself" I just found this Canadian Eh forum. I usually stick to the Town Forum. My real name is Shane. I live near Vancouver. I am currently Vice President of the Vancouver Lego Club. I have met Ted and a few other from Viclug. I am a proud Canadian (except for our Lego MSRP). My most Canadian moc to date would be a 10 foot model of the HMCS Winnipeg.

Thank you everyone for the comments. There are some fantastic entries. Good luck to everyone in the competition. I hope everyone enjoyed adding to their villages. Thanks again to Hinkley and the staff at Eurobricks for putting this contest on. Play Well

Not too shabby! This is a beautiful moc. The Inn & truck are well done. This entry will be hard to beat. Play Well

Very nice Pizzeria Yaktuu! The building is well done and the hidden light brick is well designed. Your set could use a few more figs. As a whole this could fit nicely into anyones village. Good luck in the contest. Play Well

Very nice Chocolate shop Cecile. I like the use of the Treasure Chest lids. The pidgeons are very clever. The set as a whole fits nicely within the series. The shop will give the bakery a run for its money. Mmmmm who wants Turtles?....I mean frogs Play Well

Very nice build Priovit! It is a very orginal idea. I like the very detailed construction. The use of different textures is well applied. I particually like the effect of snow on the balcony and the snow on the roof. If I had to find a critique it would be to use some brown plate under the white plate for the sloped roof as seen from the rear. And perhaps the addition of a smaller village component. Play Well Shane

Very nice little shop Blackpyre! It is very detailed and I like the color scheme. The camera is well done. good luck in the contest!
