Yeah, too right. Has rob got Ralph yet I wonder?

I've already done the 'reliving my childhood, retro compilation' stuff so I suppose that's taken the shine off it for me. I used to love Cyberball, and it would have been great to have made teams of 7 characters with different abilities, could have been crazy, but never mind. I do like the fact that Gamer Kid is totally original and exists purely for LD, unlike all the other figures. I suppose the retro-games are a bonus really, we are still getting a new level and Adventure World and more gold bricks!

In UK so no Midway 'til Friday for me...but reading the last few posts, I'm really disappointed by the lack of LEGOization(??) in the games. I really enjoy the Gauntlet bit in the main game and being able to use all the different characters and it would have been brilliant to ride a winged monkey in Joust...or use Stay Puft in Rampage...just seems a bit cheap to me!

That really made me smile :) I don't think we will have to wait much longer before news starts to come on the future. I keep an eye on twitter and the developer guys are starting to respond to mithering about future waves with "wait and see" type responses, instead of just ignoring them. There have been a couple of 'wish I could talk about what we've done with Midway' type tweets as well, which is getting me excited.

Well, I do agree with this. If you are a big fan and want to discuss the merits of telesnaps, go to a Doctor Who forum. I joined this site because it's patrons seemed to be the best bunch when I was looking for a place to discuss LD. I want to discuss all aspects of this game equally, and the LEGO it comes with, and I will talk about DW in that context. When fellow patrons are using multiple capital exclamations, then that can't be right. We have been warned once and haven't listened it seems... I don't want to see this thread closed. Let's listen to Rob, eh?

I'd say no. If you've watched the classic series, you will get loads of references that will give you a lovely warm feeling when you spot them in the game. But if you haven't, then when you will get a lovely warm feeling when you spot the LD references when you do watch them. LD has been described as 'a love letter' to Doctor Who fans in some reviews and Tt themselves admit that they spent more time than they should have on the DW content. Andy Holt and Mark Warburton are mahoosive fans, and it shows throughout the game. It's worth noting that Amazon UK recently ran out of DW LP stock and today they direct you to third party suppliers with the mind blowing price of £40.49 ($56.24). It is the only expansion pack that has gone up in price and is becoming difficult to get hold of. So forgive us LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who fans for our unwarranted intrusions on this thread. We are a demanding and excitable bunch with the kind of bonkers passion that irritates none Who fans. Of all the franchises, none have attracted the niche fanboys like DW has and, like it or not, we are a big part of its success.

Missing the first 6 years and 2 Doctors??? That would be like starting Star Wars from episode 4. Oh...

If it follows the first phase patern, the 2nd Month after the final May releases is July, after July it's September. So Sept. Isn't really that late. I think they will not release in July and will concentrate on teasing and whetting appetites for Septembers new releases, as you say, at E3 in June and SDCC July. Prior to that, we should get snippets and teases from about April onwards. If they do intend to start phase 2 in July then we should start hearing about it any day now, well in advance.

More UKcentric LD facts... "sales have now passed 1m units, reaching 1,062,630. That’s in addition to the 299,312 Starter Packs the game has sold since its launch last year..." So on average, each UK SP owner buys 3 (and a half!) expansion packs. "Warner’s game emerged as the annual champ, almost single-handedly driving the sector toward annual growth of 38.7 per cent." And happy birthday 759.

I think that after May, we won't see anything until September and WB/Tt will spend the summer enticing us with drip feed info at the Expos and Comicons. I don't mean to sound nego about LD. I've got every pack so far and intend to get all of the pending ones, and I don't regret a single penny I've spent! The game itself is one of the most enjoyable video games I've played, but it's the LEGO that makes it. LEGO games in general wear a bit thin after a while, and if the "3 year plan" just involves releasing more franchises with the same formulaic game play, I'll probably end up bailing from LD and just start buying standard LEGO sets instead.

Well...there is still Midway Arcade to look forward to from the current phase of releases, and I am very much looking forward to that! Some of these retro games could be fantastic with a LEGO twist. For instance, Rampage (which is named on the LP box) could use characters with 'big transform' ability as the rampaging monsters and the idea of smashing my way through Tokyo with a giant Homer does really appeals to me. I'm guessing that many games will need characters with specific abilities, such as Joust needing 'flying', space games like defender needing a spaceship...it will probably mean that more characters will need to be purchased to access some of the video games. Ka-ching!!

My biggest bugbear with LD is the lack of any real creative aspect to it, but i'd rather they did something different to DI and i'd like it to involve the physical side more than the digital. An example of how this could work is; when you buy an expansion pack, the bricks that make up the models are unlocked in a digital catalog. The more packs you buy, the more bricks become available. Then there is a creation mode in the game where you get to use the bricks from you catalog to create your own models and you write the digital instruction book as you go along. Certain bricks and pieces are assigned the special abilities (wheels=speed, for example) so that your own designed vehicle can still do rces, etc.. When you have created your model, the instructions can be uploaded and shared online or in game. OK, its simplified and would probably be a lot more complicated than I make is sound, but its not to far away from how Minecraft or LEGO Worlds works. LEGO bricks are the unique thing about LD, so why not use them for what they were originally designed for?

I don't think you are wrong, it appears to depend on where you are on the map as it sometimes zooms in and when it's big enough, you can see a stud or brick. The best way is to approach the starting gate as a gold brick hovers in the middle if it's not completed and a purple stud if it has!

I like going onto Disney Infinity forums and asking "No DC or Doctor Who?". Without SW and Marvel, LD has managed to make a massive impact without these perceived 'killer IP's'. In the UK alone, 2015 saw a 39% increase in the T2L sector (£93Mil in 2014 £139mil in 2015) and this is largely due to LD''s unique LEGO builds and the existing Tt game fans, not because of the franchises.

They appeared on Wii U with the wave 2 update, but they are little more than moving scenery, really.

Jurrasic World?? Don't get me started on how disappointing that world was! Luckily the gyrosphere is great fun and you gotta love ACU! He's just a normal bloke with a cattle prod, an inspiration to any wannabe hero. I found BttF to be horribly rendered on Wii U, moving at speed anywhere in town is eyebleedingly bad. But the puzzles and time travel are great. It feels a bit of a missed opportunity to me, a bit like the level! The Simpsons looks great, but the lack of any dialogue and genuine Simpsons humour left it feeling a bit lacking. Still a nice world, though. Chima and Ninjago came as a complete surprise to me. Both are beautiful, Ninjago one of the best. I love them all really, but fave would have to be Portal. It's just got such a different feel to the others, and all the ramps and levels are really difficult to navigate. Finding some bricks is mind-boggling. I completed it recently and am gonna miss it.

Slimer is needed for at least two gold bricks. One requires Cragger to use Chi to open a temple, in which is a ghost swarm that only Slimer can pass to get to the brick. There is also an underwater hatch/sonic smash puzzle that only Slimer can get.

Or the in game character roster, accessed from the Vortron hub!. It's best to whack the puzzle hint cubes to see if any vehicles/gadgets can be upgraded to cover abilities before buying any pack! Whatever you do, there are five Fun Packs that are must buys. Unikitty, Aquaman, Cragger, Slimer and Wicked Witch all have truly unique features that no other character or upgraded vehicle can provide. But my favorite Fun Pack piece is Wonder Woman! Really useful for exploring the Starter Pack levels because she has Batman's abilities (apart from stealth) and can fly around to help find minikits and secret areas. With mind control and super strength (and the Wonder Woman T.V. theme when she takes off!),she really is great value. Her invisible jet is brilliant and helped me get a gold brick I couldn't get with any other currently released character!

No, it's laser(cut gold bricks) and dive. You can upgrade the cube from Portal to deflect, so you use that.
-
Just to add...I haven't explored Ghostbusters and Doctor Who Adventure Worlds yet and there might be some puzzles not covered by the above, so someone might be able to offer advice on that. Also, Midway AW and Level Pack might throw up another Gold Brick that is not covered by the above, so you might want to wait til March when the list may increase...
-
If you want all 480 Gold Bricks you will need to get all 6 Level Packs and the Scooby Doo and Jurassic World Team Packs. In addition the following Fun Packs are needed. (It only mentions the ability that makes them unique, not all abilities they have!) Emmet/Bane-Drill Wicked Witch-Oz Adventure World Unikitty- Rainbow Bricks Cyberman* Sensei Wu-Pole Aquaman- Atlantis Cragger- Dive/Chi Slimer- Dive/pass ghost swarms/sonic Superman- Dive/laser** That should open every world and cover every ability needed for gold bricks. *Cyberman has lots of abilities shared by other characters but there was at least one gold brick I could only get with him (or possibly her?!), I think it was the hacking terminal in the SP Ninjago level or an underwater one, so I'd get 'it' over Doc Brown for the Drone ability. **Superman has a unique freeze breath ability that no one else has, but there don't seem to be puzzles that need this, but I'd go for him over Cyborg just in case.

1) The only thing saved to the vehicle tag is the last update that is saved. So if you save build 3 and then use that toy on another persons game, the only version that is usable is build 3 and no changes will be able to be made, apart from turning on/off the abilities (bolt colour, etc.) for that particular build. If you put in the vehicles associated minifig, it will make upgrading possible starting from the first build but will use your friends studs and bricks up. Take your toys home, and the last build from your friends game will appear, but your already paid for upgrades, registered to your game and unlocked with the minifig, will be available. 2) The vehicle tag just provides a simple code which tells the game what digital version to drop into the game. These are ubiquitous to all versions of the game and Wii U will work with PS4,Xbox, etc. 3) The minifigs toy tag is read only and cannot be re-written. It's is not possible to set a Doctor or Ghostbuster to any regeneration/team member for multigame use. 4)Yup, and both Chells if you want!

Wonder Woman deflects laser and her Invisible Jet, build 2, has laser that melts ice.
