Fort Legoredo on sale (auction) at Brinklink
Dfenz replied to gylman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I just picked this up for $61. It seems good value and its my first Western theme purchase. David -
Edited - I see that you don't have to replace the XX before the 13 with anything! thanks David

No doubt this is a stupid question but i'll ask anyway as I've seen the same comment made another site regarding a different set. If the sets are not listed how do you see the pictures? Is it simply a case of typing the set number into the search box at LS@H? David

All the pictures of the Legoredo trains on the front page tempted me to take a plunge on the Legoredo fort. I picked up a second hand set in a Bricklink auction. David

I presume you've me down as one of the fantastic four! David

My tuppence worth Even if Doctor Who was internationally well known outside of sci-fi fans (of which I'll admit I'm one) I don't think it would make a very good line for Lego. Like Spiderman it would suffer from a lack of a diverse range of characters (compared to say the Harry Potter or Star Wars universes). The only way you'd get the range of characters required would be to make a hell of a lot of alien moulds (expensive) and have the Doctor's enemies in different sets. If you look at the other toys around that are based on the Doctor Who franchise the same limitations can be observed - after a Doctor Model, Dalek model, Cyberman model and Tardis there's little else left in my view, and as I said I'm a fan of the series. If you compare Doctor Who to say Batman or James Bond its easy to see that the opportunities for play sets, vehicles (very important even in Star Wars franchise) and gadgets are limited - there's not much fun to be got out of a sonic screwdriver even if a sound brick was added. 10181 Eiffel Tower this August confirmed by reseller !
Dfenz replied to agrotic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Also, that must be a minature door and steps in the background as otherwise there is no way that tower is only 1m tall. Oh wait a second maybe its Yoda's house !!! David -
I was in Legoland Germany last week and they had no new sets - the most recent being the Hobby Train. It had some harder to find sets such as the Factory amusement park and skyline but otherwise nothing to write home about. In fact the Lego shop in Munich seems to be a better proposition in that at least that store has Cafe Corner. I'm not sure if Windsor is any different. David

The 9v tracks currently on LS@H are definitely in Bley as I got some recently. Also my Motorized Hogworths Express came with Bley Tracks. David

I got the railcar and metroliner together with a few extra straight rails in an ebay auction a few weeks back for

I came late to the 9v train system and really liked the Santa Fe locomotive and carriages. Unfortunately for me the only carriages available on LS@H are the Type I Carriages (set 10025) whereas I'd also like to acquire some Type II sets (10022). The prices on Bricklink and Ebay for these sets are astronomical and to acquire the individual parts to make up a set wasn't really feasible. What I decided to do was acquire 5 Type I carriages from LS@H (still available) and convert 3 of these to Type II carriages. Given that they use the same train base and sticker sheet this seemed a runner. Anyway after going through the process of acquiring various parts on Bricklink I thought it might be useful to list out the extra parts needed to do the conversion as it is not simply a case of comparing the two inventories and ordering 3 of every shortfall. As the sets are designed to make different models not all parts are required for each railcar, an important consideration if those parts are relatively expensive. Here is my list which I compiled late last night so if there are any errors please let me know. My Metroliner and an observation railcar arrived earlier in the week. I agree its a fantastic set. Just one question though, does the front wheels on your locomotive turn in a somewhat restricted manner because of the wire connecting to the lights? - it seemes stiffer than on other engines I have. At the weeknd I acquired two Star Wars Imperial landing craft and the Hobby Train using 10% discount courtesy of my new annual pass at Legoland Germany. Picked up plenty of pick a brick at Legoland and at Reim Arcade in Munich. Got 50% off Vikings 7020 and the KKII Gargoyle Bridge (=

Its back up alright but now its at full price again !!! They still have the classic castle set at half price (set 10176 even though its not appearing on the sales and deals page. David

The half price offer appears to be available to all countries serviced by LS@H Europe. Its even half price to Australian purchasers!! David

This is addressed primarily to the people that visited Legoland Germany as part of the recent Eurobricks event. I'll be heading over to Legoland on Thursday (3 May) and again on 12 May. I'm wondering was there anything worth purchasing in the shops at Legoland and if its worth getting the annual pass for the 10% discount. From the pics it seems like pick a brick is popular. How about recent sets like Cafe Corner or the Hobby Train set? One further question, does anyone know if the 10% discount with the annual pass is valid in the shops at other Legoland parks? regards David

If anyone is interested I see that the K10176 Classic Castle set is half price at LS@H Europe. That makes it

Added a second Death Star II to the collection today. I could not pass up the 50% off at LS@H Europe. David

EDIT: List is 49.99 US on this set, but I wouldn't be surprised to find it for less. I have two of these sets neither of which were acquired at full price. The first one was acquired via 2 'grab bags' at Lego store in Anaheim California for $6 each. I didn't know what I was getting until I eventually figured it our from the parts that it was the Wright Flyer minus the caterpillar links that I had to acquire on Bricklink. A good deal nevertheless. Having built the first one I picked up a second when LS@H offered it in their sales and deals section - I think it was the beginning of last year. It looks very well but it is quite tricky to put together in that I found it difficult to snap the plates together properly where the wings connect to the bodywork. David

Hi I see you're from Munich. By any chance did you get these at Legoland Germany or in a store? I'll be visiting Salzburg in 2/3 weeks time and will be stopping off at Legoland given that my flight goes to Munich. I'm just wondering should I bring an extra suitcase and yes I'm flying on one of those cheap airlines that charges by the suitcase!!! David

4 Santa Fe Type 1 carriages from LS@H (Europe) and 3 star wars magnets sets. The plan is to convert the Type 1 carriages into Type 2 carriages with the help of extra bricks from Bricklink and spare parts already held. I reckon I can do it cheaper than buying three type 2 carriages directly from stores on Bricklink although I'll have a significant number of extra parts given the minimum order requirements of some of six shops that it took to source the additional parts from at reasonable prices. Don't anyone tell me anytime soon that these went for next to nothing on ebay!!!!

I have to say I like the idea of a European Forum to discuss Lego. That's not to say our friends from the US and other countries aren't welcome its just that I like the idea of a European site focusing on a European toy. At least that's my perception. That being said, someone will probably extract some statistics to demonstrate that most members are from outside of Europe adespite the name of the site and that the same people frequent all the Lego forums!! I don't post on fbtb.net but do frequent that site. It seems to me that the site is not as active as this one, which might not be that surprising given its natural tendancy towards Star Wars but what I have noticed is that there are plenty of fairly sharpish posts directed at new members. While I can understand that people can get annoyed at newbies God help anyone who asks a question that has been answered in the 23rd post of a 40 page thread 6 months ago!! The search button is not always your friend!! Incidentally despite that site specialising in Star Wars some of the best pics this year and news/rumours have emerged from other sites including this one. Even though Bricklink is a buy/sell site the discussions in the forum there are quite interesting sometimes. When you post there, like here, you are likely to get a response from someone who knows their Lego. David
