I asked Lego, and here is their official response:

I just think it's interesting that these modular buildings are supposed to be "Lego Exclusives" and yet people report they have seen them on toy stores order forms. If they really are on the order forms, is Lego no longer doing them as exclusives, or is it something else the order form is referring to? I find it hard to believe that Lego would put the exclusive modular buildings which they only sell through S@H and in their own Lego branded stores on an order form for purchase by third-party toy stores, when they have not done this before. Or, correct me if I'm wrong. Locutis

Exclusive Train 10219 Maersk Train (Exclusive 2011)
Locutis replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If Lego limits this to 5 per customer, how do you get around those limits? Do you they allow you to order another 5 a month later? Or do they track this and restrict you from ever ordering them again? Locutis- 379 replies

I found that Chapters Polo Park had a very good selection. I was able to pick out some needed S3 MF from their containers near the kids section. I'd say they had 3-4 cases worth there. Locutis

I'm cross-posting this into this thread because it has to do with Canadians, too. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52378 I read here: http://www.bricksnorth.com/ That BricksNorth will be "coming soon" to Canada. This was posted in the summer of 2010. Is there any news regarding this event? Locutis

Will the event be taking place in Toronto on the dates shown, as the website indicates? Locutis

Thanks for the unboxing pictures. Mine arrived from Lego this month in bad shape (read: damaged) and was NOT packed anything like what yours was. For mine, they put the retail box inside their "flap-folded" box, no other protection. Usually at a minimum there's a piece of double cardboard between the set box and the outer box , but mine had no protection at all, and was crushed (something fell on it on angle and put a hole in the outter shipping box and the retail set box). Someone at the shipping company in-between Lego and myself then opened *EVERYTHING* up, and then re-taped the retail box (read: ruined the retail box further with packing tape) and patched the hole in the outer box. I was not impressed. Fortunately the lady I spoke with at the call centre for Lego was very understanding, knew exactly what I was talking about with regards to how these are supposed to ship, etc., and fixed it all for me. It's all good now, but I was quite disappointed when I received it. Locutis

My own gut feelings (and hopes) are that the next building will be one of: - a bank - a post office - a retro police station similar to fire brigade - a library - a cinema - an auto repair shop - a city hall - a school - a complete house, top-to-bottom These (in my opinion) represent some of the most likely candidates based on previous sets they have made, what fits in with the street, and what is possible with a modular design. These are the sorts of modulars I am going to be working on to create.

I didn't mean to try spending $1000, I meant to try building something while you wait. If you are willing to spend $150 on a modular building, but one isn't coming for a while, spend the $150 on something that you like but also can take back apart and use the pieces to build something else with. I bought a whole bunch of Prince of Persia sets on 1/2 price sale back in December, and have disassembled them to use the pieces in modulars. Obviously not everyone (most everyone?) isn't up to my scale of spending, but they also aren't upto my scale of what I plan on building, either. Buy enough to build one building, you'd spend that on a modular anyways, so what's the difference? Also, try and buy some Lego that you can resell at a profit, and use the profit to buy more that you can "play with". What do you think paid for the $1000 of Lego I am building with? I essentially got it for free by borrowing some money, waiting a short while, selling the sets I bought, making back the money I borrowed plus more, then using the money I made to buy lots of Pick-A-Brick, pieces on Bricklink, and sets that I tear apart. Each time I sell something, I buy more with the profit. Right now I'm working on a Market Street, and I've assembled most of the pieces I'll need for about 1/2 what they sell for used. Mind you, it won't be EXACTLY the same, because instead of buying 80 of the 1x4 in dark blue, I bought a bunch of 1x2 and 1x10 pieces, which I found for a really good deal on Bricklink. Sometimes the best sets are the ones you build yourself without instructions.

I agree, I also came back into Lego after seeing the modular buildings. The solution to waiting: build some MOC modulars while you wait! I've bought about $1000 worth of Lego so that I can build and rebuild some MOC modulars while I wait patiently for something exciting to come along. Try it!

Hi all, I now am feeling the need to build a Market Street and I think I can get most of the parts for it (or have already) like the light blue, etc. However, it seems that dark dark blue is hard to find. I did discover I can rustle up some of the pieces required by buying the Volkswagen Beetle set. Anyone have any suggestions in regards to this, or any experience with a replacement blue that looks similar? How about building it in other colour schemes? I don't need to build it to exact Market Street specifications, as I won't have the box and instructions anyways. Do you think it would look good in other colors? I do have (and can just order more) several Fire Brigade sets which contain a lot of that nice dark red. What are your opinions on a different color scheme that would look pleasing? Thanks for your help. Locutis Resistance is futile

Exclusive Train 10219 Maersk Train (Exclusive 2011)
Locutis replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Train Tech
If this is available in Canada/USA, I'll definitely buy it. I won't care if it's even priced as high as $200, it is a beautiful set! My hope is it'll be in the $150 range at most, but even still it is very sharp-looking.- 379 replies

Well, I sold one of my Star Wars Sets (the X-Wing 7191) and the money is coming tomorrow, so I decided to order the Tower Bridge. Unfortunately, it's backordered until Feb 3 for shipping, now. I can't wait! I was sorting my pieces tonight to prepare for the additional building inventory.

I know this is an old thread, but I was searching the forums to see if a review of this set had been done, and found it. I just built this set today, and my 7 year old reviewed it on Youtube for me. Here's his review, including a video of the S-foils: Please excuse his lack of enthusiasm. He initially said he wanted to do it, and then after doing it he said he actually hadn't wanted to. I apologize for hijacking the thread with my youtube video, but I thought some of you might be interested in the S-foil wings in use.

Hi everyone. I am in need of some windows and building "detail" parts to add details to some Modular building MOCs I have in my mind. The Tower Bridge includes over 4,000 pieces, and can be found for about $250. Do you think this set has a good value for the number and variety of pieces which could be used in a tan/grey MOC building? I like the design of the towers, and am considering a MOC building inspired by the towers and roofs themselves. What would you do? I need some windows, etc. anyway. Should I purchase a Tower Bridge and harvest the pieces, or should I just browse BrickLink, look for pieces that interest me, and buy just those pieces? I have about 3-4 MOC buildings I want to build, so I am going to need a large number of various pieces and bricks. I currently have 3x each of the Prince of Persia sets ripped apart and sorted, and a Grand Emporium pieced out. I also have 2x Winter Toy Shops and a Winter Bakery torn apart and sorted, and a 7778 Midi-Scale Millennium Falcon for some if its pieces. My street consists of a Cafe Corner, a Green Grocer, a Fire Brigade, and a Grand Emporium. I want to add a 32x32 baseplate building, and a couple or 3 16x32 baseplate buildings to my street. I have the option of ripping apart a Medieval Market Village and Fire Brigade, as I have an extra of each of those aside from the quantity I'm selling on Bricklink. Thanks for your opinion. Locutis

Free download of some of my MOCs
Locutis replied to marcosbessa's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks very much! I always like building using unique techniques, and seeing how things are done. I'll have to try building the house and the mini Cafe Corner. -
Nice review of this very large set. I kind of like the set, but it is way too big for me to get to put anywhere in my house. I do like a lot of the pieces, and some of the architecture in it, and may pick one up to rob it for it's parts and some of the design features for a modular building or two.

Yes, the Quest against Time and the Battle of Alamut are the sets I bought. There seems to be a good supply of various bricks. Maybe wait for the next sale (I'm sure they will go on sale again) and snatch up some.

What was your first major City/Town building?
Locutis replied to exon_from_youtube's topic in LEGO Town
My first City/Town set was the Police Station 6384 Peeron for Police Station 6384 -
I picked up a number of Prince of Persia large sets when they were on sale last week. They contain a large number of 4-stud wide SNOT bricks. Also a lot of tan and dark flesh colours, and a good selection of minifigs. I have some ambitious modular building projects I want to accomplish, so I purchased 9 of them to get a good selection of parts. They were 1/2 off, but sadly the sale has ended.

Thanks for the advice. I'll rebuild some of it and post updated photos in the coming days/weeks. Thanks!

Edit: I've created a flickr account and posted the pictures there. Thanks for the tip. I may just do that. I was trying to keep the height in-line with the other modular buildings though. The sign makes the height the same as the Fire Brigade's Bell Tower. Or do you not think it needs to be kept at a consistent height? I have 9 Prince of Persia sets coming from Lego (bought at 50% off sale), so I will get a good selection of tan and "dark flesh" colours. I also want to build a bank similar to both this building and the Fire Brigade, in dark flesh, and dark dark blue. I may swap some colours out of this building depending on my needs for another set, and for some more colour (instead of some of the grey).

Hello fellow Lego builders! I thought I would share something I just finished creating (at 3AM!). I started it yesterday just before suppertime. It's a work-in-progress, I'm still going to tinker, get some colours right, etc. I'm waiting to get 9 sets in the mail from S@H so that I can tinker and see what else I can build or substitute parts to make it look better, etc. Any thoughts? I don't quite know how I'm going to do the interior, or how I'm going to make stairs into the basement level quite yet. What better thing to do on New Year's when it's -20'C outside?!?!? Locutis EDIT: Here's the full group of photos I took, posted to Flickr:
