  1. I agree!
  2. Well, I don't know about other people, but I placed a fairly substantial online order for sale items, then called to inquire about the "Sold out" items. I was directed to call the online customer service, which I did. After waiting a minute, I spoke with an agent, and explained that I just placed an online order for sale items, and wondered about some of the "sold out" items. He asks me for the order number, and the item numbers of the items I am inquiring about. After a few minutes, he comes back and says that even though they were marked as "sold out" online, I could have them added to my order. He further explains that when their warehouse hits a certain level of remaining inventory, they mark the website as "Sold out" to allow for some of the orders to process and catch up, with people having the items in their carts, etc. I was able to order several quantities of each of the pirates sets that were on sale, and they had been marked as "sold out". I later received an email from Lego S@H confirming my order, and the added items were listed below my original order in a separate section of the email. Edit: Further to my comment above, when I was speaking with the agent, he mentioned that the "Sold out" was a function of their shopping cart system, and effectively as soon as the sale started many items would have been switched to "Sold out" immediately as people placed the items into their shopping carts. The system reserves their items in carts for a set period of time or activity, and then when the customer is inactive for a period of time, the item is reclaimed back into the system. So an item can be switched from "Available" to "Sold Out" and back to "Available" as people add to their shopping cart, it sells out, then people abandon their carts, and the items are returned back into the system for other customers to order, and then more people add to their cart when it's "Available" again, and so on. At least that was his explanation for the Pirates Sets switching back and forth while I ordered.
  3. My EN is powered with the power functions from Lego. In reverse if operates perfectly smoothly, but in forward, it lunges with each cycle of the front pistons. On fast speed it doesn't affect its performance, it just goes fast-slower-fast-slower in cycles so it looks and sounds funny. But at slower speeds, the lunging affects its ability to drive, especially on corners at slower speed (locks up). I've checked the gear from the bottom and it looks like it is aligned properly. I don't know what else to check. Any suggestions?
  4. Attached is a top-down sample view. Buildings 1, 13, 14 could be Grand Emporium buildings. Buildings 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 15, are Green Grocer/Fire Brigade style modulars. Buildings 6 and 7 are Cafe Corners. Now, what we're talking about for inside-corner is buildings 9 and 11. Make sense now?
  5. I'm going to try this and see how it works. I'll post pictures back to here when I complete it.

  7. Last night I was checking S@H and the Winter Toy Shop was listed as "Call for availability". However, this morning it now says "Sold out". Get it while you can!
  8. Hi Thorsten, Yes, I am using the (bad word) expensive Lego charger. I thought I'd stay on the safe side and be all official with it. I unplugged it and started my Emerald Night. It's been running for about an hour and it appears to be slowing down now. I guess that may be normal given that the EN isn't perfectly frictionless. I only have the basic EN site (one tender, one car). Thanks for your help.
  9. I need to know whether it's normal for the first charge to take more than 12 hours for the rechargeable battery box. I bought one new from S@H, and plugged it in last night. This morning it is still flashing like it's charging, and it's been more than 12 hours! Is this normal for the first charge? Should I not believe that it's charged and unplug and use it to see? I'm worried because the instructions indicated that the first charge is the most important. I'll leave it plugged in until I hear from someone here, or I'll report back if it stops flashing. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  10. Okay, I see your point. Like you said, though, they should make it easier to order tracks. My son hasn't opened his yet (it's for Christmas), so I don't know if inside there's something from Lego mentioning the track options and how to order track. Is there a flyer inside the box?

    Canadian Eh?

Well, there were comments about Regent Zellers, Grant Park Zellers, and Polo Park Zellers, so I figured there were several people from Winnipeg besides myself.

    Canadian Eh?

I ran into a less fortunate family while I was mailing some packages in the States last week. They told me about this and how they hope they win because otherwise they won't be having anything for Christmas. Unfortunately, you won't know until after Christmas whether you have won. I asked them what kind of sets they had on their list, and went to Walmart and bought a few and went back and gave them to the dad. It was the least I could do. On another note, I'm from Winnipeg. How many people here are also from Winnipeg? From the Zellers comments it seems like a few... We should all get together somewhere!
  13. I wish you were franchised, and had a store out west! It's quite a distance from Winnipeg!
  14. If anyone in Canada still wants one, I have a couple for sale. Please PM me if you are interested.
  15. I love your layout! I can't wait until I can redo my basement to allow for some room for a Lego layout. Right now I setup and breakdown in the livingroom, which doesn't sit well with my wife. I want to have a dedicated table in the recroom to do my town. Have you considered any of the modular buildings like Cafe Corner, Fire Brigade, Green Grocer, Grand Emporium for your layout? I think some large downtown buildings would just add to your town.
  16. Is there any way to update the firmware on a PF receiver that I already own?
  17. Many people I meet and talk to in the store when they are buying Lego don't even know about ordering from Lego.com. Obviously this is the reason they go to ToysRUs to buy their Lego for Christmas, they don't realize you can actually order it from Lego for less and get it with 1 less tax that way. The big problem is the box doesn't say it doesn't come with tracks, and they don't offer any tracks for sale in the stores. What train set that you buy DOESN'T come with any tracks? I know it's bad to assume, so I'll use the other word, but parents obviously presume that tracks come in the box. Everytime I mention to someone that it doesn't come with any tracks, they are like "oh, really, oh that's no good, where do I get tracks...". Like I said, all of these kids will be sad on Christmas morning, and really it's all Lego's fault.
  18. I like this train and the set in general (not a Harry Potter fan, though). However, how many kids will be upset on Christmas morning when they open up this set to find that there are NO TRACKS inside? The biggest problem is that these are being sold at Target, Wal-Mart, and Toys R Us. These are places that either aren't allowed to, or just don't carry track. The box for this set doesn't clearly advise the purchaser that track is required. Lego should have done one of: - include a simple oval track inside, even if it meant raising the price $20 - offer to sell track to customers wherever this set is sold - clearly marked on the box that no track is included, and that if you want some you need to go online to order I shudder whenever I see parents buying this set in the store, and I feel so sorry for them, and their kids.
  19. Thanks for the review. I get it that Lego is trying to sell more affordable sets, but I definitely don't like this one. I prefer sets priced slightly higher and above ($60-$150), that offer enough pieces to make something substantial with.
  20. My son is more into the Lego Star Wars than I am, but I do like the Darth Vader machine part. One thing that does bother me with this set is the mis-match of colors. It makes it look like someone built it using their own Lego parts and didn't have all of the right colors to finish it, so they substituted. I see the pictures of all of the parts that come with the set, and I think of all of the other things I could make with those parts. It certainly has a nice assortment of various technic pieces, etc., and it looks like a good build for my 7/8 year-old. Lots of techniques to learn from.
  21. You'll love the Grand Emporium. It's truly grand! I really loved building the Cafe Corner I bought used. It was cheaper than what the new ones go for now, and all that I didn't get was the box (well, and a few pieces, but that's life). Maybe a new-condition but used set would suffice to at least fill up your street?
  22. The site won't let me create a new topic in the "Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds" section.
  23. After being notified by someone on another forum, I checked Lego S@H for Canada and the USA, and the Green Grocer set is listed as SOLD OUT. Get it while you can!
  24. I was just checking the Lego.com S@H site, and they list the Creator Family Home (Set #6754) as sold out! In my opinion this was one of the better creator homes they released, not as good as the Model Town House (#4954) but still a very attractive set! Get it while you can!!!
  25. Hi everyone! I've been a reader of Eurobricks for over a year, and just today decided to join. I'm in Winnipeg, Canada. I enjoy Lego creator, trains, technic, and some castle sets.
