    City '09?

The construction site is $89.99 at Toys "R" Us, but $99.99 at the LEGO Store. It's the opposite of the police station - $89.99 at LEGO Store and $9.999 at TRU.
  2. It's been a while since somebody posted here, but it is interesting to note, with the collapse of the British pound now valued at around £1=$1.48, how some LEGO sets are now even cheaper in the UK than the U.S., or many times on par. Take for example, the police seats: 7731 - Post van -- UK: £4.99 ($7.49); US: $7.99 7732 - Post Plane -- UK: £7.99 ($11.99); US: $14.99 7743 - Mobile Command Base -- UK: £29.99 ($44.50); US: $44.99 7744 - Police Station -- UK: £49.99 ($73.99); US: $89.99 10184 - Town Plan -- UK: £89.99 ($132.99); US: $149.99 10188 - Death Star -- UK: £274.99 ($402.99); US: $399.999 (add tax in most U.S. states, it will be $427.99) 10200 - Custom Car Garage -- UK: £49.99 ($73.99); US: $69.99 And the UK prices include tax, the U.S. prices do not, and tax will typically add between 7% and 10.5% depending where one lives (although some place in the U.S. have 0% sales tax). It just goes to show you how LEGO isn't on some sort of mission to rip off certain people. Prices are set locally based on a markets size, and larger markets are typically able to charge lower prices as fixed costs are more spread across the product and distribution is often cheaper. Exchange rates are not within LEGO's control, and are not a fair way of valuing how much one country is being ripped off over another. Is anybody now going to complain that LEGO is too cheap in the UK? Probably not.
  3. I'm in, too.
  4. I stopped by the LEGO Store in Los Angeles today - Glendale Galleria - and they had the new dump truck and construction site at $19.99 and $99.99, respectively. The construction site looks awesome! I almost picked it up, but bought the harbor set (7994) instead, since I didn't have that one and it has been discontinued.
  5. You'd be shocked at the old sets you can find at toy stores in Europe, Asia, and South America. In May 2006, I walked into a small toy store in Thessaloniki, Greece and walked out with, among other things, a 6396 International Jetport (from 1993), a TECHNIC Rebel Wrecker (from 1994), the old lights brick set, a few old grey roadplates, and some other small town sets. And that was just one toy store. Small toy stores in Europe are filled with old LEGO, Playmobil, and other toys that have been sitting on shelves for years. It's even better in Argentina, where the toys are so expensive that they just sit on shelves forever. You can got a toy store in Buenos Aires and find sets from the ten-year old LEGO sets without much difficulty. Italy, though, is the best place to find old toys. Hence, you'll notice that a lot of eBay sellers selling so many mint, old sets are from Italy.
  6. Looks like a cute ride. Thanks for the video. As for the Indy theming (or lack of it), Walt Disney has exclusive theme park rights to Indiana Jones (and Star Wars).
  7. Great price for what looks to be a great condition 6399: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-6399-MONORAIL-EXP...1QQcmdZViewItem The sad part though, is in the description: WE ARE SELLING THEM BECAUSE HIS SON NOW LIKES LEGOS AND WE ARE GOING TO TAKE THE MONEY TO BUY NEW LEGOS ON A TRIP TO LEGO LAND. X-O X-O
  8. New city sets are nice, but they are still garbage compared to the class LEGOLAND collection sets, especially the period between 1987 and 1994, that brought us some of the most amazing LEGO town sets ever.
  9. It's a cool little set. I had fun building it last night. I don't collect SW, but I found two for $12.50 each at Target yesterday in the clearence asile. Couldn't say no to that. A little overprced at $50, though. This seems like a $35 set.
  10. The "Hard to Find" sets are typically available at Toys "R" Us.
  11. Looks like 10184 is now up for pre-order on LEGO.com. Can't wait to get mine.
  12. $59.99 is the US price. Already up for pre-sale on Amazon.
  13. I got this set at TRU in Los Angeles a few days ago. Great set! It's really reminds of true, classic LEGOLAND sets from the late 80s/early 90s. My only two gripes are that it uses the one-piece helicopter skids and that they no longer use the cool green German stickets (but the set still has Germans stickers in blue), but I can deal with it. Can't wait to find the new police station and cargo sets. The cargo sets look great, especially the semi truck.
  14. U.S. price is $89.99. Already for pre-order at Amazon.
  15. The new police copter and station are up for pre-order at Amazon. The copter is $9.99 and the station is $89.99.
  16. You can now pre-order the new LEGO Indiana Jones sets at Amazon, shipping January 1st: 7620 - $9.99 7621 - $19.99 7622 - $29.99 7623 - $59.99
